2/9/2010 2010 Ford F-150 Review: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Ford_F-150/ "Yes, Dearborn has its troubles but this is the best pickup truck on God's little acre. Yes, the Japanese have beaten up on the domestics, but Toyota and Nissan only wish they knew how to build a full-sizer as tight, as tough, as well-sorted, as keen and mean as the thing behind the Blue Oval. I mean, people, it isn't even close. My Car of the Year is a truck." According to the Los Angeles Times, the new 2010 Ford F-150 ranked the top vehicle of the year. The Auto Press actually proclaims the F-150 number 1 against the other 8 competitors who make full size pickup trucks. Based on the numbers from performance, exterior, interior, safety, and reliability the U.S. News scores the Ford at a 9.0. For all of you Ford haters out there, I would take a look at this review and think twice before you say “Found On Road Dead” or “Fix Or Repair Daily.” The review is not saying that the 2010 Ford is not the only option it just ranks as the top for trucks. The 2010 Ford F-150 has numerous features stretching from heated seats to a Platinum trim package. It offers many options to truck buyers, but the basic version is an automatic two-wheel drive regular cab with a 6 ½ foot bed XL priced at MSRP $21,820. The fuel economy is great on the new 2010’s with a MPG of 15 city and 21 highway. These are the basic specs if you go to a Ford Dealership and buy this right off the lot. Since Ford’s competitors have larger engines, Ford is looking to add a 400 horsepower, 6.2 liter engine later in this year’s lineup. All of the extra features are too many to list so going to Ford.com or asking a local dealership what options you can get is best way to figure what you want on your 2010 Ford F-150. The performance ratings are high and the engine options are great because…...

...A. INTRODUCTION Ford Motor Company started out with Henry Ford’s passion of engineering and mechanics. Ford’s first leap into the world of automotive mechanics was in 1899 when he founded the Detroit Automobile Company, in Dearborn Michigan. It was not long after the Detroit Automobile Company failed that Ford founded the Ford Motor Company on June 16, 1903. What made Ford’s vision different from the other 87 car companies in the United States at the time was Fords understanding of the cultural impact automobiles will have on the society. Ford envisioned cars being an affordable item rather than a luxury in the near future by transforming the manufacturing process. The success of Ford Motor Company was because its’ strategy encompassed a new way of manufacturing called mass production, advancements in technology, the supply chain and most of all changes in lifestyle. Ford’s personal motto, “Help the Other Fellow”, affected his goals, work environment and the corporate strategy of the Ford Motor Company. Today’s Ford embraces all of Henry Ford’s beliefs into its current corporate strategy. Ford is known for building the everyday man’s car focusing on reliability and quality. Ford is now a leader in innovation in the automobile industry right next to BMW. Energy efficient efforts, future safety features and technology advancements are all what makes Ford, Ford; however, the cars are not all that have made Ford into the global enterprise it is......

Ford Fiesta

...MKTG 301 Ford Fiesta When Ford was releasing the Ford Fiesta back into the U.S. market, it was facing a new demographic that they have not marketed to yet, Millennials. Millennials are characterized as to be born between 1979 and 1994. To further help Ford further identify who and what a Millennial is, they created Kristen. Kristen is a twenty three year old college graduate who studied journalism. Like the typical millennial, Kristen is fully intergraded into the social media construct; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram just name a few. Narrowing down the demographic, Ford can now customize the Fiesta to fit the lifestyle of Kristen. The next macro environmental factor that Ford looked at was culture. Ford figured that Kristen, being a recent college grad, would move to an urban environment. The two main focuses of Kristen are fuel economy and the ease of parking in a city. Equipping the Ford Fiesta with a 1.6L 16 valve motor with 29 miles per gallon in the city and 39 miles per gallon on the highway (Ford Motor Company, 2012) makes it a perfect for Kristen. And at 160.1 inches long for the hatchback model (Ford Motor Company), it further compliments itself to city driving and Kristen’s needs. The ability to squeeze into tight parking spots is a premium in such a city like New York. Ford had to be careful when deciding on what options they would put in the Ford Fiesta. The Millennial is budget conscious but likes the finer things in life. With that, Ford......

...The changes at Ford initiated by CEO Mulally, a former aerospace guy, have meant the difference between death for the automaker and merely being sick Almost 30 months after Alan R. Mulally left Boeing (BA) to become chief executive of Ford Motor (F), it's still easy to peg him as an industry outsider. Talking to Wall Street analysts in November, Mulally described the debut of the tiny, fuel-sipping Ford Ka at the "Paris Air Show" when he meant the "Paris Motor Show." Earlier this year, Mulally showed how he'd tried to stop appending an airplane doodle to his signature, but struggled to ink a car instead. "Rats. I still haven't got the car down," he said, in the "aw shucks" Kansas delivery that has become as familiar in Detroit as his off-the-rack blazers and shirts. Outsider CEOs have a decidedly varied track record. Some bring in their own people and impose a jarring management philosophy on a corporate culture, as Robert Nardelli did at Home Depot with such mixed results that the board pushed him out. Some are unsuited to running an unfamiliar business. Former S.C. Johnson CEO William Perez's 13-month stint at Nike (NKE) comes to mind. Others tread more softly and succeed, like Eric Schmidt, the former Novell (NOVL) guy who runs Google (GOOG). Mulally arguably falls into the latter category. Since arriving he has left most of the team he inherited in place and quieted talk that an aerospace guy couldn't run an automaker. Of course, Ford remains a very sick company. It......

...Ford and the world automobile industry in 2012 At the beginning of 2012, the Chief Financial O cer of Ford Motor Company, Lewis Booth, was reviewing his nancial forecasts for 2012-16. Ford’s turnaround since the crisis of 2007-8 had been remarkable. After a loss of $14.7 billion in 2008, Ford earned net pro ts of $6.6 billion in 2010, and it looked as though Ford’s pro t for 2011 would exceed this. The recovery had been much more rapid than Booth had expected. Ford’s business plan of December 2008 projected that it would not break even until 2011.1 Booth attributed the speed of the turnaround to three factors: rst government measures in North America and Europe to stimulate demand through incentives for scrapping old cars and subsidies for purchasing new, fuel-e cient models; second, the recovery of demand in several major markets including China, India, Brazil and the US; third, Ford’s own restructuring. The “One Ford” transformation plan introduced in 2006 had closed plants, cut Ford’s workforce from 295 000 at the beginning of 2006 to 148 000 at the end of 2011, sold Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo and a large chunk of Mazda; integrated Ford’s global activities; and accelerated product development including an increasing emphasis on smaller cars. Despite these successes, Booth looked to the future with much trepidation. Ford’s performance over the next ve years would depend on three main factors: Ford’s ability to continuing success with its One Ford strategy, the state of......

Ford Paper

...Introduction This marketing research paper is about the Ford Motor Company and its newest vehicle, the Ford Fiesta, a very small and fuel-efficient car. This paper will be covering the history of the Ford Motor Company. The paper later informs about the changes, which had to be made in the last ten years. Changes not just to save the company, but also to make a step into a more successful future. A key for that is producing smaller cars as the Ford Fiesta. People have always loved cars, ever since the first automobile was produced. It was Carl Benz from Mannheim (Germany) who received on January 29, 1886 the patent for the first automobile. The first automobile in the United States is associated with the name Ford at the beginning of the 20th century. More than a hundred years later cars exist all over the world. If sedans, coupes, convertibles, sports cars, vans, minivans or trucks/ sport utility vehicles (suv’)- all kinds of different cars are available nowadays. A very important factor to drive a car is the gasoline. The gasoline prices were always very low in the United States, compared to other countries, especially compared to European countries (see table no. 1). According to a study in 2008 the US had the 45th cheapest gas prices out of 155 countries surveyed. As of end of March 2008, U.S. gas prices averaged $3.45 a gallon, compared to over $8 a gallon across much of Europe. The government fought for lower gas prices.[1] The reason why you find......

...2002 ANDRÉ F. PEROLD On April 14, 2000, Ford Motor Co. announced a shareholder Value Enhancement Plan (VEP) to significantly recapitalize the firm’s ownership structure. Ford had accumulated $23 billion in cash reserves, close to the company’s largest ever cash position and significant relative to Ford’s $57 billion equity market capitalization. Under the VEP, Ford would return as much as $10 billion of this cash to shareholders. In exchange for each share currently held, the plan would give stockholders one new share plus the choice of receiving $20 either in cash or additional new Ford common shares. Ford also announced that it would distribute ownership of its Visteon Corp. parts unit to shareholders. Ford’s share price had performed poorly over the previous year (Exhibit 1), and the proposal drew a positive reaction from analysts who had been urging the company for months to distribute cash to stockholders. Some hailed the VEP as the boldest step yet by Ford Chairman William Clay Ford Jr. and Chief Executive Officer Jacques Nasser to convince investors that they were undervaluing the world’s No. 2 automaker. However, the plan raised a number of questions for investors. Why was Ford proposing this transaction instead of a traditional share repurchase or a cash dividend? How did the interests of the Ford family factor into this decision, and what did the transaction imply about the future involvement of the family in the company? Why was Ford......

Ford Motor Company

...conditions can be attributed to the revenue growth that Ford has experienced over the past few years. The United States has experienced a downward trend in fuel prices, due to the discovery of a large oil deposit in the US and Canada; and the unemployment rate has been steadily declining. These two indictors of the economy’s health can have a direct effect on automobile sales. Since its peak in 2012, the average price for a gallon of fuel has been on a downward trend nationwide (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2016). Because of the falling fuel prices, the demand for vehicles has been growing. When fuel prices increase, net vehicle ownership increases (Jeihani & Sibdari, 2010).  Because of demand increases, Ford has been able to sell more vehicles. Sales of their pickup truck, the F-150 has been particularly impacted as pickup truck sales increased along with the falling gas prices. Another economic indicator that has effected Ford’s sales the overall employment rate. Since 2010, the unemployment rate has been on a steady decline from 9.8% to 4.9% (Bureau of Labor and Statistics , 2016). As more and more people have been able to find gainful employment, they have been able to purchase new cars more frequently.
