1. Based on the descriptions in the text, where do you see yourself on the Kolb Inventory of Learning Styles?

Based on the descriptions in the text of the Kolb Inventory of Learning Styles I see myself as an active experimenter. I make decisions easily and enjoy solving problems. I enjoy applying what I have learned to see if I understood the material correctly and feel that I learn quickly. I am always ready to move quickly from thinking to action and get frustrated by those who take too much time acting on what they have been taught.

This coincides with the realistic category I fall into with the Holland Personality and Career types as I see myself as a concrete and practical doer. I prefer situations that involve action rather than verbal or interpersonal tasks and take a concrete approach to problem solving rather than relying on abstract theory.

2. After reading about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, determine which personality is most like you.

On the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator I am an ESTJ:

Extravert –I am outgoing, gregarious, and talkative and find myself too talkative at times or intimidating to those who are shy or introverted.

Sensing- I am interested in the facts and see myself as practical, factual, realistic and down-to-earth.

Thinking- I see myself as a logical, rational, and analytical person. I tend to decide things relatively impersonally and objectively and I am less swayed by feelings and emotions. In all of my dealings, I need and value fairness.

Judging- I see myself approaching the world in a planned, orderly, organized way; I try to order and control my part of it as much as possible. I make decisions relatively quickly and easily because I like to make and follow plans. I am usually punctual and tidy and appreciate those traits in…...

...“Learning About Myself” Cindy Radford Nursing Analysis, NUR 2430 Ms. Phyllis Hosey November 22, 2011 “Learning About Myself” In developing ideas for this paper, I have learned a lot about myself. I have learned that I am a lot more complex than I originally thought. I have a multitude of strengths and weaknesses and I think I could make a positive impact on the nursing world after graduation. I am in the process now of learning how to use my strengths for greater good and turn my weaknesses into something positive that I can use to build on. In order to discuss some of my strengths and weaknesses, I have to first tell you about why I wanted to become a nurse. When I was growing up, I had a bit of a rocky childhood. I was bounced between parents a lot and moved so much it was hard to make, and keep, friends. At the age of five, I was left at my grandparent’s home for the weekend by a mother that never came back for me. She left the country and left me behind. From that point on, I was raised by my grandmother and grandfather. They were wonderful to me! They saw to it that I was raised with manners and instilled in me that education was very important. I always knew they chose to raise me and that made them very special in my life. I worked my entire life to be able to do for them like they had for me over the years and when I was 25 years old, I got the chance. My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His health deteriorated quickly and I...

His name is Ulan. Hi is 30 years old. We are very close to each other, although he is four years older than I am. Unfortunately, he is not here with us right know, because according to the US law, children over 21 years old are not eligible for the green- card, so he stayed in Kazahstan. My father died a year ago of stroke. He was just 54 years old. I still can not believe that he is gone. I still miss him and he will always be in my heart. I and my mother came to the United States four years ago. We live together in Brooklyn. She is very strong and good person. She is the one who influenced me to go to the college. English is not my first language, so I was afraid that I wouldn't do well at school. She kept saying to me that I'll do well and that she believes in me. And here I'm at the LaGuardia Community College today, majoring in Paralegal studies. This is my third semester here. Now I feel more confident about myself, because I passed all courses that I have been taking and received good grades and try to do my best to keep doing it. I'm a very honest and friendly person. Conclusion I was told never to judge a book by its cover; I always get the big picture first. I never would have thought the story of my life would even begin like this. I have always pictured my life in a different way with happy memories from birth to the present, but if that’s how it happens then that would not be my life. In this paper I will present a brief description of my life experiences both good and bad that helped shape me into the person I am today and I will analyze some of them with the adult development theories. My story begins in the hospital with my birth. I had many problems before I was even born into the world. I had to have open heart surgery when I was born because I was not breathing, it was said that I suffered multiple heart attacks in the womb. The doctors told my mom that I might not live pass birth, but here I am at 22 to tell you my story. When I able to go home after observation, after the first surgery, soon as my mom took me home I......

But until last year, the 12-year-old Nepalese girl led a very different existence, forced to work grueling 16-hour shifts in a carpet factory in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu. Maya's ordeal began in 2011 when, as a 10 year old, she came to the city for a visit with her uncle. Little did she know he would force her into becoming one of the country's estimated 1.6 million child laborers, putting her to work in exchange for money to give her parents. For the next year, instead of going to school, she said she was made to work from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday, with barely any breaks. Like Maya, Yangzee Sherpa from Taplejung in northeastern Nepal was also coerced to join the workforce at an early age. She said her grandfather brought her to the capital to work because the family needed money. "My father was an alcoholic and my mother couldn't take care of me," said the 12 year old. "I don't know why they sent me to work while my two brothers went to school." Nepal's underage workers Though child labor is illegal in Nepal, an......

About Me

...communication was the cause of the divorce, and she gives further examples to support her reasoning behind it in “Eight Ball” (13) and “Pitching Horseshoes” (14). In “Eight Ball”, Claudia’s husband was very good at playing pool and when he played he completely ignored his wife even if she was always right next to him. “Insisted on one more, so I chalked the cue-the bored blue- broke, scratched. / It was always possible for you to run the table, leave me” (3-4). This shows how much he cares for her, which is very little. Claudia tells the reader that when her husband was not with his friends, he would pitch horseshoes instead of spending time with Claudia. In “Pitching Horseshoes”, Claudia said “into the hard earth yourself, you paced back and forth as if there were a decision to make, and you were the one to make it” (7), so she suggests the idea that her husband used that time alone to question his marriage. “Metaphor” (17) is the climax of this section, for it is in this poem that shows how the fight went, although it leaves me with only speculations of how the fight started. “We didn’t know what woke us-just cold moving, the lighter than our breathing” (1). In these lines, Claudia does not know herself how it started, and the spark was so small she did not see it coming. Once they argued, Claudia “…screamed for you (husband) to do something” (3) but instead of fixing their relationship, he “killed it with the broom, crushing, sweeping the air” (4). The word “it” used in......

...fueling my enthusiasm in exploring the world of Psychology. In my second year at this association, I was elected the President and successfully held more than twenty events to promote knowledge about Psychology among my fellow students: carrying out workshops such as student mentoring for roughly 20% of all Grade 11 students; inviting professors to give lectures about sensory memory, childhood amnesia, and cognition for all psychology enthusiasts; holding discussion groups to analyze Psychology related movies or books such as 'The Interpretation of Dreams' and so on. Holding a variety of Psychology-related activities has not only helped develop my organizational and time management skills, but has also equipped me with an initial understanding of human nature and behaviors. Gradually, I started to consider choosing Psychology as my major at university. Since then, I have been seeking knowledge about Psychology whenever and wherever possible. Research about issues in Psychology has extended my exposure. In my daily life, I have been following news and updates on the Internet or in magazines on a monthly basis, and I am always keen on speaking to experienced professionals or supervisors who are already engaged in Psychology. They all have given me good advice about insightful perspectives about applying Psychology in a career, and these discussions later inspired my aspiration of undertaking Music Therapy as the extension of my undergraduate programme. Furthermore,......

...The process piece I chose to revise was my About Me page. Due to the relatively small length of the piece (two paragraphs), especially in comparison to longer papers like the Familiar Genre Analysis (four pages), doing a momentous amount of revisions is unpractical. However, the changes I did make significantly altered the piece. To start off, I made some corrections to various middle and lower order concerns, like grammar (added “am” before “from” in the first sentence) and transitions (first sentence of second paragraph links the two, creating flow that was previously absent). After that, I focused on these, more important higher order concerns: audience, pathos and genre conventions. Previously, the reference to the audience for my blog was vague and practically missing. By adding the fact that “one of the primary uses of this blog is for my English 1020 class at Wayne State University,” I was able to hone in on my prospective audience: my professor and fellow classmates. Next, I added in more details about myself to help the reader feel better connected to me. By stating where I lived through my life and what country I identity myself as being from, as well as one of my biggest goals in life, I am allowing future readers to know me and my writing, not just the latter. Finally, I attempted to improve my use of genre conventions. About Me pages typically include a reason why the writer started a blog, so I included that. Also, I tried to be more interactive with my......

...August 2015 About Me While I was growing up, I would watch college softball on TV with my dad almost every day. Usually once or twice a week we would go to the field, throw a ball, and hit around. I’ve loved it ever since. I play softball here at Limestone College, therefore I am crazy athletic. During high school I was lucky to win MVP on the softball team all 4 years of attending my high school. All kinds of sports interests me really. I currently work at Strawberry Hill USA in Chesnee, South Carolina as an Ice Cream Scooper. Trust me I’m not complaining, we get free ice cream! My favorite subject in school is math, and following would have to be science. I hope to major in Health Care Administration and minor in Business Administration. I am a very energetic and outgoing person. I like to have a good time when I’m involved in any kind of activity; you’ll very rarely see me in a bad mood. I like to live on edge, such as going camping in extravagant places, get spontaneous tattoos and piercings, and even cliff jumping. I hope to go sky diving very soon. My family is very important to me; they’re always there for me when I need them. I’m a very creative person; so writing off the top of my head comes easy to me. When it comes to more research based papers, I do tend to struggle with citing my references properly. I like writing analytical papers about fiction based stories or short narratives that interest me. Usually, if I don’t like...

...Questions about the Volkswagen Scandal: Volkswagen is embroiled in one of the biggest corporate scandals of recent years. The German car maker has been installing “defeat devices “– software that allows cars to cheat in emission tests, making them appear than they actually are. What is Volkswagen accused of? Volkswagen’s software allowed it to beat the tests in a lab, but when on the road with emissions controls switched off, cars would pump out nitrogen oxide (NOx) at up to 40 times the legal limit. Crucially, the software “knew” when it was being tested, allowing it to switch emissions controls on and off. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that many VW cars being sold in America had devices in diesel engines that could detect when they were being tested. The EPA’s findings cover 482,000 cars in the US only, including the VW- manufactured Audi A3, and the VW brands Jetta, Beetle, Golf and Passat. Who is to blame? It’s not yet clear who is responsible for fitting the cheating software. Martin Winterkorn, the German company’s chief executive, accepted responsibility when he resigned, but denied any wrongdoing on his part. Prosecutors in Germany have opened a criminal probe into Mr. Winterkorn. Mr. Winterkorn is replaced by Matthias Mueller, the boss Porsche. Where did the incident happen and why did Mr. Winterkorn resign? This scandal has happened in the United States of America. Mr. Winterkorn denied having any knowledge of the emissions......

...sometimes in the whole cohort. My classmates were envious of my results, but it didn’t last long. As I grow older, I got exposed to things like computer gaming and console gaming. I started spending more and more time on gaming then studying and lead to the plunge in my results. Had a borderline result for my PSLE result. Went to secondary school, was still addicted to gaming. But at that time, I was enthusiastic about my CCA back then, Badminton. I could say that I spend more time on the Badminton court than anywhere else. We had training thrice a week, and even sparring sessions on Saturdays. My normal weekday routine would be to go for lessons, training, back home and gaming. So I wasn’t really spending my time wisely for the gaming part. Which I seriously neglected my studies then. My results were borderline throughout my whole secondary education period, still manage to get a Polytechnic to pursue my diploma. Enrolled into Nanyang Polytechnic, taking Electronics, Computer & Communication course. The name make it seems complicated, but that’s the thing that lead me to choose this course. Made a group of close friends within the first week of school. During test and exam periods, we will get together and do some revision to help with each other and clear our doubts. We all did quite well for the first test. Then comes the Semester Exam, where I made a stupid mistake. About Me

...I came into this class this semester knowing that I wanted to pursue a career in social work. And, I am proud to say that I have ended this semester with the same mindset. This class encouraged those who had yet to declare a major to do so by having the different colleges within the University come and present to the class. Although, I have declared a major I found all the different presentations to be helpful. The class overall helped encourage me to be a better student and to set goals that were attainable in order to be that successful student. My freshman year, I found it very hard to adapt to the workload. I found myself struggling to balance everything as far as work, school, and social life. Everything seemed to take a turn for the worst when I was dismissed for a semester, which was very hard to accept. Although, I was sad to be dismissed it helped me grow as a student. I still struggle today but now I do not hesitate to seek help from my advisor or mentor. A few barriers that I still struggle with today are time management and procrastination like most. I usually try to organize myself but at times it just seems impossible. Lately, I have been using an agenda to help keep myself organized and it has been of major help. Next Year, I plan to make the appropriate changes to better myself as student. In this paper we were asked to identify 3 different long-term goals and short terms goals that help build up the goal and make it attainable. My first, goal as a......

...I'm Reece, people don't ever really miss me. I'm never the first person anyone looks for in a crowded room. I'm just me. take it or leave it. I'm not all that confident. I know I am not smart. I read people much better than books. I never have the words to explain my feelings. I'm only as funny as I feel. and I do not think I'm pretty. I tend to think up convocations in my head before even having them and get annoyed when they don’t go how I planned. I sometimes walk with my head down. I think horrible things about people. I'm not as nice as I'd like to be or as innocent as you'd think I am. I mostly speak before thinking. I confuse myself more times then what I do speak. I'm a big dreamer with little motivation. I'm really bad at making choices for myself. I am really no good at all on my own. and I don't understand how anyone could ever be the same. I hate being alone, but sometimes it feels like that’s all I am (lonely) People seem to hear what I have to say but never really listen. I find my mind to be a beautiful thing but then again it can drive me crazy. I never was good enough like I was disappointing people in anything I did or said. I have never completed anything big in my life, I think that it will be forgotten once I do it so what's the point. I think more about my past or future then what I do living in the moment. I fear things more then what I would lead on. I feel the need to make things perfect but after trying for so long I......
