Based on Colquitt, Lepine, and Wesson (2013), an inimitable is defined as something that cannot be imitated (p.11). I used to work for Nordstrom in Annapolis, MD where the nature of our business is sales. We have to make sure we are assisting customers while completing everyday task and keeping an eye on our department. Unfortunately, we are very busy and need help with watching our department. There are some customers who are there trying to figure out a way to scam the company. Because Nordstrom believes in given excellent customer service, we have to work hand and hand with Loss Prevention (LP) in order to let them to keep an eye out for those few bad seeds. Therefore for us as sales associates and Nordstrom, loss prevention is an inimitable resource.

Loss prevention is a source we use to not alarm the other customers or the customer who is trying to commit a crime or even if an employee is trying to steal from the company. Loss prevention has the skills, resources, and the appropriate abilities in order to catch these particular customers in the act of trying to prevent the loss of inventory or monies.

The reasons Nordstrom can implement loss prevention is to make their business better. Companies have many functions in place in order to protect themselves; therefore loss prevention is just another function in place in order to protect the actual merchandise they are selling. This function can manage the loss of the company, which will increase the profitability of the business.

Nordstrom has to invest into loss prevention in order to be proactive about theft internally and externally, create different tactics that can prevent or slow down the losses, and also improve upon the skills and strategies that have worked in the past.

Loss prevention allows the company to be able to understand and manage their products and monies by allowing loss…...

...| Final Exam | AMBA 610 | April 16, 2013 | | Issue 1 – Ethics and Legal Environment The Badaracco’s video file from 2002 lists many important and critical analysis methods for finding a solution to right vs. right problems. He lists four main questions and three tests that will be answered in this answer to find the solution to how the HR should handle the situation with Sansa. Which way of proceeding will get the best net-net consequence? Badaracco’s (2002) right vs. right framework has the first question as what will get the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people. In this question, Sansa’s pros and cons are to be compared with the pros and cons of other employees of Iron Throne Industries (ITI). If HR lets Sansa to work as senior VP at ITI without her having an MBA, many other employees who have worked hard to get an MBA to apply to such positions might feel angry and distrust. Others might feel the credibility of their company has gone down. If she can falsify on resume, she could falsify other documents as well. On the other hand, if Sansa is let go for the reason of lying on the resume and not having an MBA, which was a requirement when she was promoted, the company would be losing an excellent employee who has shown that she is more than capable of her job. In this case, letting Sansa continue to work as a senior VP not only helps Sansa but also to all the employees of ITI as she has been an outstanding worker and would further increase......

...The New Apple BUS 620 Dr. Susan Sasiadek The New Apple Apple computers was hit hard by the tragedy and largely early surmise death of Steve Jobs. The creativity and genius that put the marketing products such as the ipod, modern desktop computers and innovative technology into computer was lost early. Peter Burrows talks on the new expectations when he says, “The biggest problem will be if Apple’s upcoming products can’t meet expectations. Along with Siri, Apple’s other heavily promoted feature since Jobs’s death has been the new iPad’s high-resolution “retina” display, which is nice but not exactly revolutionary”(Burrows, 2012). I think this can be a problems for the company. Apple is a big company with a lot to lose. The have changed the technology of music, and made it faster and more reliable to get information at the palm of your hand. I think Steve Jobs knew the value of that idea. The iphone, ipod and other modern technology have made it easy to stream music, watch videos, download shows and even search the internet. These things have all allowed the The company, Apple, has to expand in order to stay afloat. They have to be willing to go to places that they did in the beginning. The offered the computers such as the Power Mac and Power Book that brought in a lot of their sales. I thin k if they focused on expanding to these markets they did at first then they could build on them. I think the IPOD has technology that will live in for some time. I think if......

...“Leading From the Top Down, How Leadership Styles Affect Organizational Culture” By XXXXXXXXX For UMUC Course: AMBA 600 9048 XXXXXXXX May 5, 2014 Executive Summary Dear Stakeholders, We are experiencing great challenges within our organization to find individuals who first and foremost possess the basic leadership qualities to step-up and lead. This report has been developed to take a look into several leadership styles that can affect our organizational culture in a positive way. Until an effective leadership style is implemented our organization will continue to suffer with finding and retaining officers who are not only qualified and have the ability to lead effectively, but who also want to lead because they believe in our organization and want to see the organization grow and succeed; which in turn means they will succeed. One of the main topics of discussion in our board meetings is the fact that lower management have exhibited a leadership approach or lack thereof that is conducive of running and maintaining a successful workforce; our business relies on our contract officers providing a quality service to our clients. This is a prime example of why our organization is in dire need of adopting a leadership style that will affect our organizational culture in a positive way. Our officers have expressed through their union delegates that they don’t agree with the methods being used by current management, officers have expressed concerns that their...

...hands. Wolverine is in no argument a great superhero and filled a much needed unpleasant good guy in a group of happy going hero’s. When you think of it though, these are not real qualities that a person has possessed yet not saying that with mutation in the future it is unrealistically possible. Take into consideration this; a man, no powers, the need for justice, revenge, a bad attitude, a skillset of death and mayhem, Punisher. The man could in reality already exist, how is this not a better superhero? Exactly, it is a point of view, there is not real way to prove the better of something that is not real, just the possibility to argue. If you ask Sheldon, the best is Flash Gordon and he is on T.V. Amba 620 Discussion 2

...My current organization can leverage the inimitable resources it has firstly by building a conceptual argument. To build an argument such as, my organization has to build a resource-based view that describes what resources are valuable and ultimately creates long-term profits for the organization. According to Colquitt, Lepine, & Wesson (2015), resource-based view is a model that argues that rare and inimitable resources help firms maintains competitive advantage. Those inimitable resources include history with the organization, making numerous small decisions and socially complex resources. To retrieve those resources, a leader in an organization such as a manager should closely examine employees’ behaviors. (Colquitt et al., 2015) states that a number of factors affect performances and commitment include individual mechanisms such as a job satisfaction, stress, motivation, trust, justice, and ethics. Individual characteristics, group mechanisms and organizational mechanisms also factors in on an employee’s performance. One of my co-workers has been employed at the establishment for 5+ years now, and is a great asset and very beneficial at the organization because of her extent of knowledge and history. Recently the manager conducted an individual evaluation with each employee, unfortunate for her, she did not have the best evaluation. Discussing her concern with me, made me reflect, she is the longest employee with the company and she does what is required for her......

Her company landed a large deal with a strategic customer with the instruction to design a device to be integrated with another product. The reason to pursue this was that the client was experiencing rapid growth. Lauren’s company was chosen due to the fine reputation they have and the fast turnaround time. As the manufacturing process started, test results showed that the product did not meet the criteria set forth by the client. After informing the supervisor of the product shortfall, the supervisor wants Lauren to put the product through. She went a step further and informed the general manager with the same results. This is a very important customer and a large deal for the company that will establish the company within the industry and the managers do not want to jeopardize the contract with the client. ...Identifying and Developing Emergent Leadership within the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Kevin Williams University of Maryland University College Professor Boyle Abstract Identifying and Developing Emergent Leadership Introduction. While it is easy to define leadership as someone who has the ability to influence others in achieving a goal or mission (Robbins and Judge, p.191), providing a qualitative definition is challenging. How does one define good leadership? Answering this question is quite difficult as we all have different workforce experiences and perspectives. Just as individuals struggle with this question, so do organizations. As with most organizations, not only is there a struggle to define good leadership, there is a constant struggle to identify and develop leadership potential. Organizations are quick to identify, assessing and developing leaders as top priority, but as with most organizations they fail to implement a formal construct. On average, only 31 to 55 percent of large organizations have developed formal programs to identify and develop leadership potential (Dries and Pepermans, 2012). There are many challenges that confront organizations in developing a formal program, the most common being identifying the criteria that presently being used as opposed to what should be used (Dries and Pepermans, 2012). In their research, Dries and Perpermans discovered that in a lot of instances, organizations were relying on gut......
