...Non-Functional Testing and Security Testing in Mobile Application Development Abstract Smart-phones have become part of human life. As smartphones become more powerful and usage rises, Smartphone makers have a much wider range of innovation possibilities than their PC counterparts. The personal nature and pocket size of mobile phones and their potential offer a wide scope for developing distinctive handset models targeted at a specific segment of the smart-phone market. The mobile application market’s growth is driven by the widespread push of advanced handset capabilities by the mobile industry and the increasingly-connected global consumer base. Progress of network technologies, restructuring of revenue-sharing pattern, lowering of mobile data usage cost, growing adoption of smart phones, and increase in application usability have contributed to the growth of mobile application adoption globally. This trend has led to substantial surge in the dependence and usage of the mobile Internet, specifically mobile applications. Mobile Application Development is the method by which application software is produced for low power handling devices, mobile devices, and other small digital equipment. As this technological development continues to gain momentum, it's quickly turning into one of the most powerful industries in the world. Majority of the mobile application testers tend to focus more on testing the product against client requirements – Functional testing and pay......

Application Case 16.1 the Case for and Against Drug Testing

...to have a drug-testing policy in corporate America is a major undertaking. Alcohol and drug abuse are considered to be amongst the most common and dangerous health hazards in the workplace. Drug use in the workplace is an increased liability to employers and can cost companies millions of dollars in legal expenses and compliance standards. In this case study, Castulon Corporation, is faced with a dilemma of whether or not to implement a drug-testing policy. The cause for this dilemma is the fact that upper management has been notified of two separate incidents in the past two months of possible drug abuse (Ivancevich p. 532). In this case study, it would seem logical that Castulon Coporation should establish a drug-testing program. Where it is legal to do so nearly every company or business should have a drug-testing policy. The policy does not have to be mandatory for all situations, but should at least be a requirement after a significant mistake or accident. There are many pros and cons to utilizing a drug-testing program but the biggest positive out ways everything which is safety. This is especially true for this case study as the company is in the manufacturing industry so they are at a higher risk for injury and loss of life (Ivancevich p. 533). A drug-testing policy would start with screening any newly hired employees. This would be a pre-condition of employment. The individual would have to pass an initial drug test. This pre-employment drug testing gives the......

...books has a $10,000 debit balance, the related intracompany account on the branch books should have a credit balance of the same amount. The intracompany account on the books of the home office often is called Investment in Branch, while the reciprocal account on the branch books may be labeled Home Office. When a company has more than one branch, a separate investment account for each branch is maintained on the home office books. The balance of the Investment in Branch account indicates the extent of the home office’s investment in a particular branch through contributions of cash and the transfer of assets to the branch. The procedures employed by the home office in accounting for its investment in a branch are similar to a parent’s application of the equity method in accounting for its investment in a subsidiary. The reciprocal Home Office account on the books of the branch represents the home office’s equity in the branch, and the balance is shown in place of owners’ equity in the separate financial statements of the branch prepared for internal reporting purposes. The balances of the two reciprocal accounts are adjusted for the same transactions. The account balances are increased for asset transfers from the home office to the branch and reduced for asset transfers from the branch to the home office. Adjustments to the accounts also are made for profits and losses of the branch, with branch profits Accounting for Branch Operations 609 leading to an increase......

Project Managers always undermine the impact the testing activity has on the Project Cost and Schedule. Hence the testing activity is usually unplanned and uncontrollable. As the project manager assumes that the main focus of the testing activity in the project is not to meet the project schedule. But Its is a reality that a thorough and close monitoring of the Testing project is required to increase productivity, reduce cycle -time and improve quality. ...for treasury. In another article by Kadirire (2014) Top management at the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) had been fingered in a looting spree as the company struggled to service a $108 million maize import debt. Documentary evidence in possession showed that GMB general manager Albert Mandizha and his two deputies, took personal possession of luxury company cars without remitting payment to the struggling government entity. These articles showed that the application of corporate governance at GMB is minimal up to the extent of non existence. Management should be looking at the needs of all stakeholders and being accountable for their decisions but here they are shown looting GMB assets without paying and at the same time the company they run is unable to service its debts. This looting was part in parcel of the reason why GMB started being unable to pay its salaries. This same management had acquired these cars as GMB official where as part of that money could have been used to service some debts. There is very minimal application of corporate governance as management is minimal as they are serving their interests at the expense of other stakeholders. The state they left the company in because of their decision resulted also in farmers threating not to sell their produce to GMB because of very late payments for their produce. If GMB management had been looking at the wants of all stakeholders tjhen they would not have fallen into this kind of trouble in which they the GMB is......

Checklist for Internals

...Checklist for Evaluating Internal Controls Internal control evaluation checklists are meant to help a company assess the structure within the organization. An effective internal control guarantees the integrity of financial reporting. There are five components of an internal control system, which include: control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication, and monitoring. Not only are there five components, but there are three phases, understanding, assessment, and testing. This checklist helps to assure that control objectives are achieved with cost-benefit consideration. Auditors will need to consider the five components within the three phases of the internal control evaluation. Software Testings

...Software Testing Types: Black box testing – Internal system design is not considered in this type of testing. Tests are based on requirements and functionality. White box testing – This testing is based on knowledge of the internal logic of an application’s code. Also known as Glass box Testing. Internal software and code working should be known for this type of testing. Tests are based on coverage of code statements, branches, paths, conditions. Unit testing – Testing of individual software components or modules. Typically done by the programmer and not by testers, as it requires detailed knowledge of the internal program design and code. may require developing test driver modules or test harnesses. Incremental integration testing – Bottom up approach for testing i.e continuous testing of an application as new functionality is added; Application functionality and modules should be independent enough to test separately. done by programmers or by testers. Integration testing – Testing of integrated modules to verify combined functionality after integration. Modules are typically code modules, individual applications, client and server applications on a network, etc. This type of testing is especially relevant to client/server and distributed systems. Functional testing – This type of testing ignores the internal parts and focus on the output is as per requirement or not. Black-box type testing geared to functional requirements of an application. ...entry gates, displaying of identification badges and logging visitor access. Auditing Application Controls Application Software Application software is the software that processes business transactions. The application software could be a payroll system, a retail banking system, an inventory system, a billing system or, possibly, an integrated ERP (enterprise resource planning) system. It is the application software that understands data with reference to their business context. The rules pertaining to the business processes are implemented in the application software. Most users interact with the computer systems only through the application software. The application software enables and also limits the actions that a user can do. It is very important to subject application software to a thorough audit because the business processes and transactions involving money, material and services flow through the application software package. Approach to Auditing Application Software The first question to ask in an application software review is, "What does the application software do; what business function or activity does it perform?" In this context it is very necessary for the IS auditor to know the business. For application reviews, the IS auditor's knowledge of the intricacies of the business is as important, if not more so, as the technical knowledge. Hence the first step in an application review is to understand the business function/activity that the software......

Testing Strategy

...designing a test strategy. The immediate purpose of this model is to remind testers of what to think about when they are creating tests. Ultimately, it is intended to be customized and used to facilitate dialog, selfdirected learning, and more fully conscious testing among professional testers. Project Environment includes resources, constraints, and other forces in the project that enable us to test, while also keeping us from doing a perfect job. Make sure that you make use of the resources you have available, while respecting your constraints. Product Elements are things that you intend to test. Software is so complex and invisible that you should take special care to assure that you indeed examine all of the product that you need to examine. Quality Criteria are the rules, values, and sources that allow you as a tester to determine if the product has problems. Quality criteria are multidimensional, and often hidden or self-contradictory. Test Techniques are strategies for creating tests. All techniques involve some sort of analysis of project environment, product elements, and quality criteria. Perceived Quality is the result of testing. You can never know the "actual" quality of a software product, but through the application of a variety of tests, you can derive an informed assessment of it. Product Elements Page 1 of 5 General Test Techniques A test technique is a way of creating tests. There are many interesting techniques. The list includes nine general......
