Analytical Solution




Stress analysis for trusses, beams, and other simple structures are carried out based on dramatic simplification and idealization:
– mass concentrated at the center of gravity
– beam simplified as a line segment (same cross-section)
Design is based on the calculation results of the idealized structure & a large safety factor (1.5-3) given by experience.

FEA


Design geometry is a lot more complex; and the accuracy requirement is a lot higher. We need
– To understand the physical behaviors of a complex object (strength, heat transfer capability, fluid flow, etc.)
– To predict the performance and behavior of the design; to calculate the safety margin; and to identify the weakness of the design accurately; and

Automatic Forklift System

When the left side sensor sense the black line means the controller will rotate the wheels in left side, so that the robot can follow the black line. Our model consists of three motors. The first two motors are used to run the robot model. The third motor is in the front of the frame which is mounted with the lead screw arrangement. The fork lift arrangement is mounted on the lead screw such that it can be moved up and down. The third motor in model is used for up and down movement of the fork. The above all arrangements are used to lift a weight from one place and carry it to another place. The whole setup is operated through remote signaling device. 1.3 Target Users The Automatic Forklift System (AFS) is designed to make the process of stocking efficient while decreasing unnecessary work related spending. A one-sixth scale model forklift is being used to demonstrate the feasibility of the project. An operator will control the system at a safe distance away from the forklift, such as in a separate control room, decreasing the risk of work related injuries with a handheld user interface. For these reasons safety remains a core value of Volvo Cars. This paper presents some of the latest active safety developments within Volvo Cars. Rear-end collisions are common accident scenarios and a common cause of these accidents is driver distraction and thus not reacting in time. No vehicle system is a substitute for the most important safety feature in any vehicle: the driver. However, Volvo is harnessing innovative technologies to help alert drivers to avoid potential collisions and reduce the potential impact speed when a collision cannot be avoided. One of those systems is Collision Warning with Auto Brake where the area in front of the vehicle is continuously monitored with the help of a longrange radar and a forward-sensing wide-angle camera fitted in front of the interior rear-view mirror. A warning and brake support will be provided for collisions with other vehicles, both moving and stationary. Additionally, if the driver does not intervene in spite of the warning and the possible collision is judged to be unavoidable; intervention braking is automatically applied to slow down the car. Out of these fuel types I would choose diesel as the best. There are advantages and disadvantages in all types of fuel sources. Solar and electrical are good environmentally but the diesel overpowers in all categories. Diesels are the better choice of all the fuels in my opinion. I would choose a diesel fuel because according to Consumer Reports they have a 30% better fuel economy than a gasoline vehicle. Also they are more affordable than a hybrid vehicle. According to The Diesel Page, diesel engines get better mileage than gasoline engines. Diesel engines also do not have spark plugs or distributors so you do not need to worry about the usual maintenance of these two things. Diesel engines are built to be used for hauling and they usually also last longer than gasoline engines (Health Research Funding). While speaking of hybrid vehicles, let’s backtrack to the solar and electrical vehicles. According to How Stuff Works solar powered cars have many practical problems with them. Solar powered cars do not gather enough energy to move the car very quickly, there cannot be too much weight in the car otherwise it will slow it down and use more energy. Solar cars also do not have a very good way to store energy. The layout for solar power is good for buildings, but it is much too heavy......
