Can You Tell What Type of Gamer You Are??? With all the different types of games and ways to play them in the world today, can you pinpoint a specific type of “gamer” you may be? Each one has its own specific uniqueness. For example, do you like to play on a console like the Xbox, PS3, or PC? Maybe you like to act out a fantasy in medieval times in real time, such as; live action role playing or LARPing. Some have a large imagination and like to roll the dice to determine their fate in table top games like Dungeons and Dragons or D&D. These gamers are known as Virtual Gamers, LARPers, and Tabletop Gamers. . Virtual Gamers like to play video games, whether it is on a console like the Xbox 360 or on a PC. These people control the game with a controller or keypad and it is the most modern way of gamming. It provides visual graphics in HI-DEF and awesome quality sound. You can play with or against people all across the world and never have to leave the comfort of your room or living room. Virtual Gamers depend on electronic devices to set them in their alternate reality, such as a TV and a device to play the game from. There are many different types of video games out these days and can range from SYFY to horror and fantasy to action and adventure to sports and education. Video Gamers have been sought to be mindless drones by people but in fact, studies have shown that people that play video games are known to have excellent hand-eye coordination, split second decision making, and more likely to think clearly under pressure. Live Action Role Playing, or LARPing, is interesting as well because you literally act out your character in a fantasy realm that you and your friends plan or make up as you go. Most LARPers like to set their story in medieval times or in the renaissance era. They are not usually professional actors, and enjoy escaping…...

Advertising Can Tell You a Lot About a Country.

...Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Advertising can tell you a lot about a country. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Every country has its own culture and traditions. There is no doubt that an advertising campaign conducted in Russia will not have the same affect here in the United States. Let us take for example advertisement of food and restaurants. A huge amount of fast food stands suggest their services for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper here in Houston. The competition is very strong. Every week you get in your mail-box an envelope with different types of discounts in exchange for visiting them or ordering pizza. Watching TV you are also from time to time invited to visit a restaurant in order to taste some delicious food. It is not because it is easy to make money cooking but because the demand for such service is high. First of all, people like to go out sometimes to have dinner with friends. Second of all, it is often impossible to drive home for lunch. It can be time consuming. As for Russia, it is a great tradition to have dinner at home with the family and go to the restaurant for big holidays. Additionally fast food is not popular in Russia. So you will see advertisements of yogurts, coffee, dairy products and juice instead of restaurants and fast food stands. In conclusion I would like to add that in order to succeed in advertising campaign especially on the international market company must know......

3 Most Damaging Words You Can Tell Your Son

...3 Most Damaging Words you can tell your Son Rationale In our current unit, we are focused on the topic of “Representation of Masculinity in the media” and how it is portrayed much differently to what it actually is. I will be writing as an analyst but also a parent who has gone through this time of where masculinity is the key to your success. Through this written task, the aim is to inform the readers “3 most damaging words you can tell your son” and it how it affects the children. The intended audience for this textual analysis would be parents who try and tell their children to grow up and stop whining. This type of analysis could be found online particularly on blogs that have a direct link to the video. In my written task, logos is the most effective stylistic device. For example, the statement “90% of students wrote pain and anger,” as a feeling they have oppressed due to societies influence on them. This statement makes the reader aware of the troubles they are putting their children though in order to raise them, as society wants them to turn out, engaging them to think of their past encounters with their children. The stimulus text for this piece was a three minute video titled “the 3 most damaging word to tell your son,” as it was a direct relationship with our current unit of representation of masculinity in the media. Another stimulus text that I looked at was a blog site to find the conventions into writing a blog article. Word Count – 253......

What You Can Relate to

...Writing/21292 What can you relate to that Neil has experienced? I know how it feels to lose everything. I know how it feels to come from nothing struggling and fighting to get my dreams and have them taken away. I know how it feels to go through so many trials and tribulations and still be able to look at things the way he does in this matter. I have also because of everything I have gone through been able to come to the same conclusions he has. I firmly believe that everyone needs to take a step back all the time and take a look at things because he was right when he said that we all have that inner child in us. We all have that three year old in us. Most people don’t recognize that. Honestly I feel more people should take a look at that inner child and see what it sees. Life would be more rewarding. What impressed you? The fact that he was willing to share what he has gone through. Sharing his emotions. The fact that he was able to step back and come up with the steps and things he needed to do in order to make the changes in his life that was needed to be made. The fact that he was able to discuss the inner child concept. Not many people in this world really sit back and see that part of who they are or even the fact that part even exists in people let alone in themselves. The fact that he talks about how people basically go through trial and error to get to where they are today in life. Life is like a puzzle. If you keep working at it. Someday you will get to where......

Yet these very forms of media affect women all over the world and tell them what they should physically look like to be deemed as beautiful in society. One may not believe that the media is up to such a terrible act, but subconsciously women believe what the media portrays as beautiful. Global Warming and What You Can Do to Help

...We hear the term “greenhouse gas” a lot—but what is it? Humans add various gases to the earth’s atmosphere every day; these gases (known as “greenhouse gases”) consist primarily of carbon dioxide, ozone, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide, and methane, and tend to warm the earth. Trees help counter greenhouse gas production during photosynthesis, by taking in carbon dioxide as waste material and producing oxygen, which of course we all need to survive. Scientists predict that the daily addition of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, combined with daily removal of large portions of the world’s forests, will raise the earth’s average temperature by several degrees in the next century. This in turn will raise the level of the sea and potentially create significant changes in weather patterns on a global scale. As we move into the future, many climatologists expect that most of the United States will warm. What we do not know yet is how to scientifically predict which parts of the nation will become wetter or drier. We do know there is likely to be an overall trend toward increased precipitation and evaporation, and more intense weather systems, in the form of violent rainstorms, blizzards and sun-baked, drier soils. The Facts—What Do We Already Know About Changing Global Conditions (Global Warming)? Global temperatures are rising. Observations collected over the last century suggest that the average land surface temperature has risen 0.45-0.6°C (0.8-1.0°F) in the last...

What Type of Computer Is Best for You.

...hardware for a lawyering needs can be daunting. After all, there are so many choices available today. However, with this guide I will pick some computer choices that I believe would benefit a lawyer. If you're planning to only use your laptop for work, than paying attention to graphic card specs is unnecessary. Processing power and RAM should be your primary concern. For lawyers, mid-range processing power should be good enough . Any Intel Core i3 or i5s should be more than enough. As for RAM, more is always better. The bare minimum though is 2GB, but 4GB is ideal. Battery life is the main reason why you shouldn't go overboard with your processor. A powerful chip adds considerable heat and it can also drain your battery much faster. For lawyers, a long battery life is important. You never know when you'll need a power outlet. When it comes to choosing laptops for creative work, art or graphic design, digital painting or 3D modeling, there are a few considerations. If you're just creating 2D work, you can save money by not getting a high-end graphics card. What you get with a high end graphics card is to ability to move around a highly detailed or textured 3D model with no lag. Screen size and resolution will affect your productivity. A resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels should provide ample working space and still be able to show menus, control palettes. Next consideration is screen size. A larger screen will enable you to see details clearer. ...

Can You Say What Your Strategy Is?

...Can You Say What Your Strategy Is? by David J. Collis and Michael G. Rukstad It’s a dirty little secret: Most executives cannot articulate the objective, scope, and advantage of their business in a simple statement. If they can’t, neither can anyone else. Can you summarize your company’s strategy in 35 words or less? If so, would your colleagues put it the same way? It is our experience that very few executives can honestly answer these simple questions in the affirmative. And the companies that those executives work for are often the most successful in their industry. One is Edward Jones, a St. Louis–based brokerage firm with which one of us has been involved for more than 10 years. The fourth-largest brokerage in the United States, Jones has quadrupled its market share during the past two decades, has consistently outperformed its rivals in terms of ROI through bull and bear markets, and has been a fixture on Fortune’s list of the top companies to work for. It’s a safe bet that just about every one of its 37,000 employees could express the company’s succinct strategy statement: Jones aims to “grow to 17,000 financial advisers by 2012 [from about 10,000 today] by offering trusted and convenient face-to-face financial advice to conservative individual investors who delegate their financial decisions, through a national network of onefinancial-adviser offices.” Conversely, companies that don’t have a simple and clear statement of strategy are likely to......

Can You See What I See?

...Can you see what I'm talking about? Heather E Harper BCOM/275 May 7, 2012 Scott Romeo Can you see what I'm talking about? Demonstrative communication is nonverbal and unwritten communication through things like facial expressions, body language and tone of voice. Just like anything else in life, there are a number of positive aspects as well as negative aspects to this kind of communication. Communication as such can either be effective or ineffective and positive or negative for both the sender and the receiver. Successful communication is not only the sending of a message, but also the receiving of that message the way it was intended. The use of unspoken communication such as facial expressions allows the receiver of a message to form an opinion on a number of things. For example, if a speaker is excited, passionate, or happy about what they are speaking on, it will be apparent by the look on their face. If that speaker is tense and pacing back and forth with their hands in their pockets, it would appear that he or she was nervous or anxious. Even the speaker’s attire can be a form of unwritten nonverbal communication. Let’s say the speaker is a pastor or a preacher, and it is Sunday morning and he is preaching his sermon in a T-shirt, cut off jean shorts, and flip flops. Opinions will vary in the congregation. Ultimately the preacher’s attire sends a message to his congregation without one spoken word. It is nearly impossible to avoid using......
