Comparison and Contrast between Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory and Burrhus Frederic Skinner Behaviorist Theory B. F. Skinner and Abraham Maslow both are well known in the field of Psychology, but not all psychologist believe in the same theories, perspectives or needs. Here we have two brilliant minds with two different theories when it comes to learning. While neither is wrong, they both have a tremendous impact in the classroom. ...Comparison between deontological and utilitarian ethics Deontological ethics Deontology is a normative theory attributed to Immanuel Kant, which focuses on the concept of the duty. It is concerned on fulfilling what is believed to be a moral duty without considering its impact to other people. It takes the stand that the duty defines the right actions regardless of the consequences. The hold of deontological ethics is that doing right is what conform the moral laws. According to Kant, right actions are not done by following inclinations, impulses or obeying the principle of greatest happiness but are done simply and purely from the sense of duty. I asked my mother why one day and she told me that having a wall crucifix in every room where your family gathers, as well as in every bedroom just above the doorway, was a great visual reminder of God's love for us. Even as a child I remember looking at the crucifix and always was filled with lots of emotions; from anger to sadness. I believe that was the same emotions the artists who created the famous crucifix at Basilica Santa Croce, in Florence and the crucifix at Santa Maria Novella, in Florence wanted people to feel. The crucifix at Basilica Santa Croce was made by Cimabue, AKA Bencivieni Di Pepo, who was a Florentine painter in the Byzantine Style. His devotion to the Byzantine style of his figures of the Christus patiens (suffering Christ) is bordered by the Virgin and St. John the Evangelist. “The faces are very expressive and Christ sways dramatically. Each of these things are used in some way so exaggerate the four main themes of Jealousy, family, loneliness and of course love, as well as some minor themes, such as loss, family, politics and social class. There are a huge number of key moments in the films, but for the purpose of this comparison I shall pick out the few which stand out the most to me. The first section I would like to delve into is how the films explores British society. Our first glimpse into British society in ‘Love Actually’ is at the very beginning of the film, where we hear the recognisable voice of Hugh Grant atop the vast ‘Heathrow airport’. This use of narrative immediately suggests to us that the film is going to be of British origin using a mixture of panning, tracking shots and canted frame in order to piece the scene together. These camera shots are particularly effective in the context of Britain, as stereotypically London is seen to be a vast, fast paced, culturally diverse atmosphere, which is exaggerated by ‘flitting’ between shots. Similarly to this Hugh Grants well spoken lilt is used as a narrative to begin NottingHill, again atop of typical British backdrop of a market street. Continuing with the culturally diverse theme we are introduced to a different stereotype of Britain, with a classic British market being presented, which is just as busy, but using a tracking shot and less fast......

...The two short stories: When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine and Nobody Said Anything have different narrative elements that cause the message of each of the stories to be revealed differently. The main similarity between the two is that both stories are told in first person – in the point of view of the person that “loses their innocence”. However, the time and order in which the stories are told are unalike, causing audiences to read and understand them differently. When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine is told in retrospect, as the narrator reveal’s her story of the past. She tells her story when she is older, after she loses her innocence, giving her an advantage to insert different events and instances in relation to her story that enables her to let the reader’s understand it easily. The narrator uses this advantage; describing multiple mini-stories of the different moments she had that linked to her main point, showing the process of the gradual realization. Contrasting, Nobody Said Anything is told just as the main character comes to his realization. This story is told in the span of one day, as the narrator describes many insignificant and trivial details that do not aid in telling his story (such as packing a sandwich). He does not have the advantage that the previous narrator had, as he was just describing his day, not knowing that he would come to a realization by the end. It limited him by not already knowing that he would come to realize something, meaning he did not have......
