Abstract
Google operates on having competitive pay amongst its competitors. As well as being paying at the highest levels within its markets. With Google making the decision to invest all of this money into its employees a lot of time and research had to be put into the investment. Although, the time and research was thought out there are always pros and cons to the decision. The company can be positively impacted and or negatively impacted. As well, as the employees themselves.

Introduction All organizations have a compensation plan, written or unwritten, formal or informal. For some organizations, the purpose of that plan may be merely to meet compliance requirements. For other organizations, the goal of the compensation plan may be to attract qualified employees, to retain those employees, and to motivate employees to direct their efforts towards achieving the goals of the organization. Regardless of the goal, size and complexity of a compensation plan, there are generally many easily-identified elements to any compensation plan. Before an organization actually develops a compensation plan, there are several questions that need to be answered. Taking the time to consider and answer these questions will make the both the process of developing and administering a compensation plan much easier and will result in the development of a compensation plan that more closely matches the organization's goals and objectives.

...get close to 1.00. So, the PUE ratio would be 1.00/1.00=1. 2. Describe the five methods recommended by Google for reducing power consumption. 1). Measure PUE Reducing overhead by effectively distributing power and cooling. 2). Manage Airflow: Managing airflow is yet another way to reduce a data center’s energy load by reducing the mixing of hot and cold air. One way to measure this is through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) which shows where “hot spots” are located and how the airflow is directed. 3). Adjust Thermostat: By increasing the temperature and reducing the amount of energy expended on air conditioning, Google saves thousands of dollars annually. Even just increasing the temperature by a few degrees makes a huge difference in annual energy consumption. 4). Utilize Free Cooling: Using ambient temperatures outside the data center to provide free cooling and thereby reducing energy consumption. For example, a cooler climate such as Iceland is a more desirable location than a hot and humid one such as Florida. Additionally, using techniques such as evaporative cooling can reduce energy consumption by use of water. 5). Optimize Power Distribution: Google has reduced the number of electrical conversion stages (AC to DC) needed to supply electricity to components thereby tremendously streamlining this processes. Google can save thirty dollars per server per year. 3. How much of the world’s global greenhouse gases are......

L=10.01 URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voOK-1DLr00 Case Consumers of technology constantly demand devices that are smaller, more efficient, and more powerful than the ones they have. But most consumers don't understand the massive back-end infrastructure that powers their “front end” devices, like mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers, nor the impact that this infrastructure has on the environment. Take, for example, the smartphone. iPhones, Androids, and BlackBerrys represent a trend in all forms of mobile technology towards smaller devices that perform an increasingly large number of functions. But every time a smartphone user connects to the Internet, places a call, or sends an instant message, it uses power not only on their phone, but at every step of the infrastructure used to perform that function. More often than not, data centers, also called “server farms,” are......

Compensation at Google

...* REMUNERATION & COMPENSATION * * Upon being hired at Google, Eric Schmidt was paid a salary of $250,000, and an annual performance bonus. He was granted 14,331,703 shares of class B common stock at 30 cents per share, and 426,892 shares of Series C preferred stock at purchase price of $2.34.[34] Schmidt and the Google founders agreed to a base salary of $1 in 2004 (which continued through 2010), with other compensation of $557,465 in 2006,[1] $508,763 in 2008 and $243,661 in 2009. He did not receive any additional stock, or options in 2009 or 2010.[35][36] Most of his compensation was for "personal security" and charters of private aircraft.[36] Schmidt is one of the few people who became billionaires (in United States dollars) based on stock options received as an employee in a corporation of which he was neither the founder nor a relative of the founder.[37] In its 2011 'World's Billionaires' list, Forbes ranked Schmidt as the 136th richest person in the world, with an estimated wealth of $7 billion.[2] Google gave him $100 million in 2011 as a parting gift.[38][ Business Insider earlier reported that Google gave its employees a $1000 tax-free cash holiday bonuses and a minimum of 10% salary increase set to be implemented starting January 1, 2011 accross all Google offices. These so-called merit increases will be gauged on each employee's performance. The news was purely internal but it was leaked to the public There's also been recent signs that......

Innovative Compensation Practices

...Innovative Compensation Practices One of the determining factors in choosing an employer is the value of their compensation, or benefits packages. There is an increasing need for specialized benefits to meet our society’s changing needs. Our Nation’s increasingly diverse workforce requires more variety in benefit choices to meet the growing demands of their employees. The Basic Compensation Package In the beginning, companies would offer a basic benefit package to its employees. This package was a very fundamental offering that included what was considered attractive to a potential employee. The most important part of this package was a salary with yearly increases based on job performance. This would guarantee that at least once a year, if not more often, the employee would receive a raise in pay for their efforts. Health benefits were the next most important issue for employees. Many had families to provide for, so having health benefits was very important. Most companies used to pay 100% of the insurance premium and include dental benefits and life insurance with the package. Profit sharing and retirement plans (401K) were offered as a way of getting the employee to invest his efforts in the company. If the company made a profit, the employee would profit also. If the employee wanted to contribute to a retirement account, the company would match their contribution as an act of good faith for continued service. If there was a layoff due for any reason,......
