...Kauionalani Makaawaawa-Tavares ENGL 2010 Community Writing 1 5 February 2015 A Fitness Gym is the Best Place to Live a Healthy Lifestyle Anyone can lose weight by walking around his or her neighborhood, using a home remedy, or going to the park to have fun. A fitness gym is the best place to live a healthy lifestyle. Not only do they have machines that provide you to use every inch of your body, but they have supporters there as well. Personal trainers are trained not only to help you perfect a workout, but also to guide you in the right direction to living a healthy lifestyle. I enjoyed the support those personal trainers gave to me when I was on my own journey to losing weight. In 2012, I was at my heaviest at 200 lbs. While undertaking home exercises such as T25 and Insanity, I found that I hardly had any support from others. My family members were always there for me, but they could never find it in their hearts to tell me the truth; I was too big for my age. Constantly being put down by myself, I joined 24 Hour Fitness’ beginners program. With the help from others and the personal trainers that work there, I am now at my lightest. I lost 66 lbs. in 3 months and I have maintained my weight since then. I could not do it without the help of those members at 24 Hour Fitness. These machines need to be placed further apart from each other. Some of the members at 24 Hour Fitness have complained about the machines being too close. While a member is in their “zone”, it...

...there is so much more to walking than just simply walking. Mentally while walking around now, whether I am walking around UTC’s campus or walking around the mall, I think more about the way I am walking. I always think of the way I hold my hands and the way I pick up my legs and roll my feet. I have also learned from walking for fitness class how to walk distances in a shorter time and I also feel as if I can walk longer distances with less energy. When this class first started I felt so silly walking the way we were told to but now after I have walked that way so much I feel silly walking the way I did before. From this walking class I have learned that when I am walking I have learned that I always need to walk in a relaxed manner and try to walk tall and hold my head high. I am all the time constantly checking to make sure that my posture while walking is very good. I also have learned this semester from walking for fitness class that walking is the easiest way to start getting more active. It is also such an easy solution that can help with weight management. I find it to be really helpful considering I am always dealing with such a busy schedule. Another thing I have learned from this class is how walking helps reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. I find this knowledge so helpful because with such a busy schedule just finding the time this semester to take study breaks and to go walk for an hour or so really does help me. Walking also helps with......

The body repairs and strengthens itself in the time between workouts, and continuous training can actually weaken the strongest athletes. Rest days are critical to sports performance for a variety of reasons. Some are physiological and some are psychological. Rest is physically necessary so that the muscles can repair, rebuild and strengthen. For recreational athletes, building in rest days can help maintain a better balance between home, work and fitness goals. The main objective of my project of this term is to build up a recovery program for athletes. That is what I am gonna try to study into the basics. Sport is not only about performance, there is a lot of other factors that influence the performance, from the psychological aspect to the physiological condition. The recovery phase and rest is one of the main subject that help to improve athlete s performance. Human is not a machine, we all need rest to restart our body again to reach the performance we want. Rest is not only behind higher performance, recovery periods prevent injuries that are caused by overtraining or a trauma. My project is about recovery program for a specific athlete, and how it can influence his performance. I try to build up a recovery program for him, that is suitable for his possibilities and......
