Definition of Love

Love to me means that you have unconditional feelings for someone or something. Since there is a love for people and love for object or ideas. I will talk about what it means to love in each aspect. When you love someone it means that you have strong unconditional feelings of caring for that person, that you want the best for them and want them to be happy no matter what. That means if they are happier without you then you must let them go if you truly love someone. When you can’t be together for so many reasons its love, between you and your significant other, which brings you together against: all odds, parents, distance, work, and anything that stands between you guys. As people like to say “love makes people do crazy things”, because you will do anything to be with someone; as long as they have the same love feeling. To love someone while married to them means that if the other person wants kids but you don’t, you should just have kids with them because you want to make them happy. The creation of kids creates the ultimate love feeling between parents and children. Just because you claim to love someone doesn’t mean you can’t get mad at them still because they did or said something wrong. Whatever consequence you give them is because you love them and want what is best for them; which is for them to do or say things that are appropriate in the world. Love for objects or ideas is a little different because it’s more about passion. If you love something you will do anything to obtain that item, whether it may be legal or illegal. Loving an idea means you will do anything to pursue that idea. People say “it’s better to love, then not have loved” and this statement is true, because love is what makes the human race stronger and…...

...Love is a word with many definitions. Although, Webster defines love as a strong feeling of attraction resulting from sexual desire; enthusiasm or fondness. But to me love is not just a feeling, but it is the way that you treat the ones you care for. You should treat the ones you love so considerately through your actions they'll know you care and love them. Love in my eyes, is making that sacrifice for someone, knowing that you might regret it sooner or later. Love is how you make another person feel when you are in their presence. Many people show or express their love for someone in many and different ways. To me love is in the actions not the words. The true meaning of love like what is the meaning of life is one of the questions that will remain unsolved forever. But right now the love is a great thing that should be treasured forever and valued as a important part in your life because it will effect all relationships, romantic or not. Love has not changed at all over the course of history and this makes it the most important emotion anyone could have. Most people take love for granted and worry about it always being there when they need it the most.      Family love is another type of love we can think about. It is the love we use between our intermediate family and our extended family members. Family love is said to be blind, only to show that love can be shown to anyone no matter condition or problems one can have. Of course we all know about the good times, hard......

...Definitions A definition is a statement that gives the meaning of a concept. For simple and relatively concrete concepts such as ‘Table’ we can understand them without definitions by simply seeing them. But most concepts are abstract and complex and to understand them definitions are important tool of knowledge. A definition does the following functions: a. It clarifies the boundaries of a concept. b. It clarifies the relationships among concepts. c. It clarifies the referents of the concepts. Vagueness and Ambiguity A term is ‘vague’ means it is hazy obscure and imprecise for example the words love, happiness, rich or poor are vague. We can rarely tell whether they apply to a given situation or not. How rich one has to be in order to be called rich? An ‘ambiguous expression’ is one that can be interpreted as having more than one clearly distinct meaning in a given context for example: words such as proper, light, critical, bank can be used ambiguously. If one were to describe an action as proper, does this mean proper in moral sense or proper in the sense of being socially acceptable? The difference between ambiguity and vagueness is that vague terminology allows for a relatively continuous range of interpretations, where as ambiguous terminology allows for multiple discrete interpretations. A vague expression creates a blur of meaning where as ambiguous expression mixes up otherwise clear meanings. Definitions and their purposes Definition is a......

Do you have a cup of coffee every morning? - Ты выпиваешь чашечку кофе каждое утро? Основными членами вопросительных предложений являются вспомогательный глагол, подлежащее исказуемое, так как их присутствие обязательно. А остальные члены предложения могут и упускаться из предложения. Например: Does he swim? - Он плавает?  Do you like ice-cream? Рассмотрим на примерах: Are you a manager? - Вы менеджер? Can you sing well? - Вы можете хорошо петь?  May...

Definition Essay: Love

...Love is something that means very different things to different people. For some, love can be purely romantic, or even purely sexual. For others, real love is utterly unconditional and only truly exists between family members, or between people and a deity. And for some people, love is fluid, ever changing, and everywhere, and is felt for family, friends, partners, pets, and even inanimate objects, dead artists, and fictional characters. None of these people would be right or wrong, but one thing is certain: love is the most powerful force in the entire universe. Between partners of any description, be they married or cohabiting, boyfriend and girlfriend, straight or gay, young or old, love is a relationship of mutual understanding and respect. Marriages and partnerships are often built on common ground that people find when they first meet; this can be as deep as sharing religious, philosophical or religious beliefs, or as simple as finding that you love the same film, book, or band. This kind of love is often reliant on some kind of ‘chemistry’: that strange feeling that they give you in the pit of your stomach, and the feeling that nothing in the world is more important to you than enjoying the moment you’re in together. Some people feel that they experience love at first sight, where they know from the minute they set eyes on each other that they want to to be with that person, but something built on common interests and understanding must be stronger. A parent’s love......

The Definition of Unrequited Love

...bit interested. Later, during that very same conversation, Gatsby excuses himself to take a phone call and the moment Gatsby is out of ear shot, Nick finds himself questioning Jordan Baker. “Who is he?” (p.50), “where is he from…?” (p.50), and “…what does he do?” (p.50). Of course, these questions may be the result of the rumors that Nick has heard, but there is also the possibility that Nick is curious of Gatsby. Jordan realized Nick’s desires at this moment as well, “’Now you’re started on the subject,’ she answered with a wan smile.” (p.50). Nick begins his descriptions again as he watches Gatsby from across the party. Nick’s description begins with, “…my eyes fell on Gatsby…” (p.51), this statement could be compared to several cliché love stories. Whenever Nick describes Gatsby, it gives off the feeling that the world has stopped and there is nothing left but Nick and Gatsby. Though he may just be a curious neighbour, most curious neighbours would not write a full novel about each other. Lunch proves very helpful in proving the truth behind this rare opinion. Nick had lunch with Gatsby shortly after this and that led to a few pertinent points in the development of Nick’s feelings. The sole purpose of the invitation for lunch was for Gatsby to somehow meet up with Daisy, but Nick does not realize this and graciously accepts the invitation. Gatsby drives them to lunch and along the way tells Nick a short, compressed version of his life story and Nick listens intently,......

My Definition of Love

...My Definition of Love Love has so many definitions which it makes impossible to define precisely. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most difficult questions to answer. “I can’t stop thinking about you.” That’s one definition of love. The Bible says “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.” (1st Corinthians 13:5-7). In order for me to give you my best definition of love, I would have to use the four types of love given by the ancient Greek philosophers. They are phileo, the love of friendship; storge, the love of family and relatives; eros, the love of affection and obsession; and agape, the unconditional love. Phileo, the love of friendship, is not sexual in nature. Phileo basically covers everything that has to do with a friendly affection of one person to another. It includes loyalty to friends, family, and their community. Phileo love truly describes friendship and the bonds that are strengthened by shared experiences. Most of us have at least someone that we call best friend. The tender affection we have for them is an example of phileo. Storge means family affection between family members. It is extremely important for all human beings, children and adults. It is natural......
