...Jim O’Brien Phase 3 Discussion Board – Project Risk Management MPM434-1204A-02 Contracts and Procurement Professor Christian Cheney No matter the size of a project, there are going to be risks associated with the project. Identifying risks early in a project can be critical to whether a project succeeds or fails. You can gain success for your project if you deal with project risks in a proactive manner. The result will be that you minimize the impact on the project and seize the opportunity to correct potential project road blocks (B. Jutte). All project plan need to include a risk management plan that is implemented early in the project and monitored throughout the life of the project (Risk Management Guide for DoD Acquisition). This discussion post asked us to identify four potential overall risks that could be experienced in the execution of our contract and procurement plan. The four major risks that could be experienced in the execution of my contract and procurement plan are: technical, schedule, production and cost. My contract and procurement plan is the development of a variable speed air refueling drogue to support tactical air refueling of rotary-wing and tilt-rotor aircraft by Air Combat Command and Air Force Special Operations Command C-130J tanker aircraft. Currently the tanker aircraft are configured with a either a low speed drogue for rotary-wing air refueling or a high speed drogue for tilt-rotor air refueling. Both of the commands......

...Discussion Board Question: Think of a time when you were really dissatisfied with a job in a company or your role in a volunteer organization, student group (incl. fraternity/sorority) or as a student in a class. Describe the situation. What did you think about the situation? How did you feel about it emotionally? How did your job satisfaction influence your behavior? I once worked at an Irish restaurant while I was in high school that was completely dreadful. We worked extra long shifts with no lunch breaks would sometimes be forced to work doubles on weekends with no breaks at all and no overtime pay. The restaurant was new in town so busy was slow, I would walk away from an 8 hour shift with only 15$. The manager and owners were rude and couldn’t even remember our names and were extremely insensitive about requesting time off no matter what the circumstances were. It was the only job I could find at the time so I was stuck working it for 2 months until the summer ended, it was horrible. The job itself was exhausting from being on your feet all day and walking around the restaurant. I was constantly tired which make me grumpy and very irritable even when I wasn’t working. Because of the rudeness of the employers it caused all of us to be less friendly towards each other, which made a bad work environment. The whole situation made me become a poor employee unfortunately. I didn’t try my best and would frequently show up late and slack on my work. The lack of respect from...

Why are clip art libraries useful, not only in Word , but also in PowerPoint? Clip art libraries are useful to show pictures to your words. They are great for making your documents or slide shows more exciting. Clip art actually can draw attention to get the readers to focus on the project or document itself. 2. What are the copyright laws that must be followed when using clip art? The right of legal use of clip art depends on the intent of the copyright owner. Copyrighted clip art is off limits for commercial use unless you have a written agreement with the copyright holder. ...Discussion Board Unit 3 Comp101/1401B Introduction to Computers A. Questions for weekly discussions and conversations. 1. What features or functions of PowerPoint (PPT) do you feel are generally useful? I’ve never used PowerPoint so this is new to me. After reading and watching the M.U.S.E videos and the other sources in the learning materials, I feel that all the features and functions to PowerPoint will be useful. I have learned that your PowerPoint presentation should not be too flashy and the sound to your presentation should be appropriate. I have learned that you can add tables from Excel and Word and also add animations too. I think as long as you put together a great presentation with information that when you add clipart and sound that meets the presentation and is appropriate the presentation will be amazing. 2. From your experience of sitting through PowerPoint (PPT) presentations, what are some things that presenters have included in their PowerPoint Presentation that you feel are annoying and should not be included in a “good” PPT presentation? In my business there are tons of PowerPoint training presentations. What I feel is most annoying is pointless information. I’ve seen some that give me information but then put information in that has nothing to do with the subject of the presentation itself. Another thing is cartoon graphics. I personally don’t want to see an animation of random things especially if they have nothing to......

...Discussion Board Unit 5 Comp101/1401B Introduction to Computers A. Questions for weekly discussions and conversations. 1. What are some of the main applications for Object Linking and Embedding (OLE)? OLE 1.0 was released in 1990 by Microsoft; it was the evolved from the Dynamic Data Exchange. A couple of the main applications for Object Linking and Embedding are Microsoft Document and Microsoft Excel. The reason for linking and embedding is maintaining active links between two documents or embedding one type of document within another document. Object Linking is a linked component that stores the path to the original data which is often in a separate fie. Embedding is using the Paste command in a container application that can create an embedded component or an embedded item. 2. Under what circumstances might you use OLE to embed an Excel spreadsheet in a Word document? Why might OLE be better than “copy and Paste”? You might use OLE to embed an Excel spreadsheet in a Word document when you want to work within the original document. It makes it easier to be able to work with. OLE is better than copy and paste because of OLE; you can create a chart in Excel, copy it, and paste the copy into a document in Word. But you can also go beyond the copy-and-paste operation. You can link the copied chart back to its original file in Excel (the source file). Then, if you make changes to the original file, the changes are automatically made to the......

...adoption of business solutions, and leverage scale and establish new corporate infrastructure. Their strategy hopes to communicate with the consumer in a way that assures consumer understanding, brand loyalty, innovation and architecture, as well as develops distribution channels and a growing supply chain. Though intuition, creativity, and spontaneity are all ingredients of successful strategies, systematic analysis is a vital input into the strategy process, Without analysis, strategic decisions are susceptible to power battles, individual whims, fads and wishful thinking. Concepts, theories, and analytic tools are complements, not substitutes for experience, commitment, and creativity. They serve to provide frameworks for organization discussion, processing information and opinions and assisting consensus. Strategic analysis is still currently a young field with an incomplete set of concepts and techniques. Thus our challenge is to build upon the existing ones and do better. If the existing approach to analysis does not address the problems of formulation and implementation in a world of constant technological change and complexity, it is necessary to develop the tools to do so. We must address the principles of strategic analysis in relation to concepts such as real options, tacit knowledge, hypercompetition, and complementarity. This allows us to more effectively identify the challenges that affect firms in today’s business environment. Unlike many analytical......

...Discussion BOARD FORUM 4 Discussion Board Thread Re: Job Description Definition: “Job Descriptions typically support key Human Resource decisions, including those which link competencies with functions such as selection, training, career development, pay determination and promotions. It includes a job Title, reporting relationships, a summary of responsibilities, and a level of decision-making authorized and hiring requirements information.” Hawkes, C. L, &Weathinton, B. L. (2014).Competency-Based Versus Task-Based Job descriptions: Effects on applicant attract. Journal of behavior & applied management, 15(3), 190-211 Summary: In an Organization, Human Resources is responsible for making Job Descriptions and handing them over to management. Some of the Job Descriptions are too long, outdated meaning that the information is not current, it is boring and confusing. According to Miller, a best Job description is one that is simple and straight forward, easy to understand. It is the road map to a good performance which benefits an Organization or Company instead of a boring document that contains theoretical activities (Miller, pg. 394) A Job description written well can also be used or rather can serve as a reminder of what is expected of the employees and most of all can be used in the recruiting process to attract good candidates who can be motivated and be able to perform a great job. Nursing Discussion Board Response

... Nursing: Discussion Board Response Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation TOPIC ONE The existing tremendous change among American citizens towards health has created a new wave among health care attendants. The American citizenry has become more concerned with their health. The level at which people are concerned with lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure has increased the demand for health care. Most citizens are attending health care sessions to know about their level of sugar and their pressure rates. There has been an increase of attention towards the aging in the society. The aging population has health issues that require constant observation from the health care attendants. Angermeier et.al (2009) indicates that most Americans have become more proactive towards health issues and this could strain the existing manpower within the health sector. This is because the number of physicians that is supposed to attend to a number of patients does not match the existing number of trained physicians. This occupational pressure among physicians has led made the health care sector in America to reconsider some of the old practices that have defined occupational roles within this sector. Auerbach (2012) reveals that the above situation in the American society has led to issues such as the need to offer doctoral level training for nurses, new form of certification that is anchored on physician examinations and the need for......

...Week 1 Discussion Topic 1 - What went wrong at D&A Labs? After reviewing CSEC630 Module 1, provide a realistic scenario on possibly what went wrong at D&A labs and discuss countermeasures that you are aware of, that can help prevent the situation from recurring. When addressing this question consider the following: Assuming the company had a firewall, why didn't it stop the intruders? Do you think an Intrusion Prevention System would have helped in this situation? Where and how was the company utilizing encryption? Do you think this gave them a false sense of security? D&A Laboratories had an external firewall in place to protect their information systems from unauthorized access. Protecting companies’ data in today’s world can be a challenging task. Firewalls should not be only the solution for protecting companies. Firewalls are designed specifically to prevent threats from the outside world from reaching the internal network. In today’s evolving threat landscape, there should be additional layers of security measures to protect information and information systems. Gondcalves (2000) writes, “Firewalls are designed to keep unwanted and unauthorized traffic from an unprotected network like the Internet out of a private network like LAN or WAN, yet still allowing users and other users of the local network to access Internet services.” But just solely implementing firewalls may not ensure the protection of networks. Gondcalves (2000) further writes,......

...Iesha Fox July 19th, 2012 MGMT 250 Discussion Board 1 Prof. John Hargiss Entrepreneurship Discussion Question 1 Over the past few years, our economy has gotten worse and worse, but I would still take the risk of opening up my own business. To me, now would be the perfect time to open up. I think this because no matter how bad the economy is, that won’t stop anyone from going out and purchasing anything from stores. Although there are pros and cons to starting your own business right now, I would still go for it. I believe before anyone opens up their own business, you have to know what you are getting into. You have to have a lot of knowledge and have to be very committed to what you are about. I think before starting your own, you need to at least work in a business for maybe two or three years. That way you know what goes on inside the business. Try to talk to someone that owns a business so that you can get some key pointers what will help along the way. Another important thing to consider before you get started is money. You have to have money to make money. I know it takes a lot of money to get started, so you have to think are you really prepared to start your own business. Most people try to get loans from banks. But to do this, you need a credit score of “700”. You need to be able to manage your money, if you don’t know how the business won’t last long because you’ll soon go bankrupt because you aren’t keeping up. The statement “A student whose main......
