How Do You Think the U.S. Schools Can Be Improved?

...How do you think the U.S. schools can be improved? Schools should focus on the bottom of the hierarchy of the student needs, such as food and shelter. Schools should provide reduced cost or free breakfast and lunch to all students. We cannot change their home lives, but we know that learning on a satisfied belly takes better than learning over the growls of an aching tummy. School should eliminate social promotion. This would help for two reasons. First, we live in a capitalist society where work is only engaged in when there is a clear end reward such as a paycheck. Even at a young age, kids can understand that to. To get what they want they need to do the work that the parent gives them to do. Second, social promotion is the reason kids come unprepared into subsequent classrooms. This is obvious. We can blame ineffective teaching, or a numerous of other issues, but if they did not get the skills or content they needed, they ought to be given the opportunity to try again. School should reduce the teacher workloads at all levels. In elementary this would mean smaller class sizes and more collaboration time where kids are with PE, music, and art specialists. Many schools are cutting out most of the academic time for the children, which make teaching less interesting to most children. We need our schools to find what is exceptional in each child, teaching each that these strengths can be used to create meaningful lives for themselves. We need to improve education with a......

How Effectively Do You Think Rachel Spent Her Day?

...How effectively do you think Rachel spent her day? In my opinion, how she spent her day is quite effectively. Because she has a mixture of relax and hard-work modes. She can also manage her project on schedule and has a very good social relation by help other project that is behind schedule to be back on track. She has very good planning both in the morning and evening. However, if the communication breakdown was not occurring and no weekly status meeting, she will use only 20 minute to listen to their team members in one day. I think this is less than it should be. Actually, the discussion between manager and group member is significant in order to keep project on track and build up their relationship. When the communication breakdown occurred, Rachel was not fear to face with the problem but on the other hand she shows her investigation skill by she immediate indentify the root causes of the problem by discuss with another department where the problem occurred. Also, after finish defining root cause she shows her good coordination skill by directly report to her boss and give her team know what is happening and reviewing the impact that could have on this project. Nevertheless, her project can follow schedule when she only met team member 20 minutes a day. This is maybe because of her ability to control / manage people. What does the case tell you about what it is like to be a project manager? Project manager is not like other managers because they have to deal......

What Do You Think Is Unethical?

...What do you think is unethical? The countrywide approved everyone to get their loans, no matter they have jobs or not, no matter they have income or not, no matter they have assets or not. The criteria they use may be unethical. They don’t care whether the documents are valid, whether they can verify the income, whether the appraisal is any good. They just care about getting the loan closed, in order to do another loan. The underwriters/ contractors looked through the loan as quick as they can. The loans are not looked at like they should have been looked at. They won’t think through with the common sense which is reasonable or not. ( teacher 10,000, waitress 12,000). On the instruction of their supervisor and lead. In the world of due diligence, they don’t use the word “fraud”. Even if it is suspected, they will say it seems like incorrect. 60% to more than 80% of the loans did not meet their policy. Clinton Holdings perform due diligence to two dozen banks, who were buying the mortgage from the Countrywide, Ameriquests, the New Centurys, packaging those loans, selling them to other investors. In each of these banks, The Clinton Holdings find a substantial portion of the loans did not meet the standards of the bank buying those loans. The banks did not tell the investors that the loans were defective. Blankfein was unapologetic. Do you think they know that you think something is a piece of crap when you sell it to them and then bet against it? When the supervisor go to the...

College Essay - Why Do You Think We Are a Good Fit for You

...Renwick Caldwell Sam Houston University March 15th, 2013 Why Sam Houston Would Be a Great School for Me The transition from high school to college is a very stressful one. Many issues are revealed that you never had with high school. How can you afford to pay tuition? Can you afford housing? What about your location? This is why it is incredibly vital to find the best college that you think is suited for you. For me that college would be Sam Houston University. I was seriously scared about the step into college. A most confusing one at that, and I didn’t even know what I wanted to become when I get older. Honestly, it hit me hard. Responsibility is what separates these kids from going to community college, and going to a university. All of my friends want to just go to lonestar, but I don’t want to be one of those kids. I want to receive the best education I can possibly have, and this is why I want to go to Sam Houston. I want to study in computer science and become a software engineer. Checking out Sam Houston took the cake. It’s close to home, it has a computer science program, and a great one at that, and I could learn a lot more in the 4 years at Sam Houston rather than the 2 years at lonestar. I want to get a head start on my career. I want to succeed as far as I can and I believe that Sam Houston would help me on my road to success. The location is also a plus since it is only about forty minutes from my parent’s house, therefore making me feel a lot more safe......

...longer following the set of values and folkways from previous years. They are beginning to follow the same rules and regulations of the society. Panasonic was also letting go of employees and modifying the social structure to better fit the company. 2. Japan’s changing culture might influence the way Japanese business operates in the future because all of the rules and regulations will be different. This would be something new that the culture of Japan had never seen before. For reading through the case study it seems as though it is a positive and a negative thing. It’s a positive thing because it is creating profit for the business and a constant increase throughout the years. It is also instilling in the employees what they must do in order to keep their jobs. The negative effects are that they are losing the tradition and the values. This may cause some of the employees to not be as loyal as previous years. With that constantly hiring and changing management can have a negative effect on the company and how others view the company. The potential implications of such a change can cause the Japanese culture to be misunderstood. Tradition plays a major part in their everyday life so without a certain aspect of it, it could cause a lot of confusion and disruption (Global Business Today, 2011, pp. 126). 3. Traditional Japanese culture benefitted Panasonic in the 1950-1980s because it was based on traditional Japanese values such as strong group......

Do You Think That Efficiency Can Conflict with Effectiveness?

...Do you think that efficiency can conflict with effectiveness? Explain and provide many real live examples as you can. Basically Efficiency and Effectiveness are two sides of a coin. Efficiency is competency in performance or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort while effectiveness to achieve the intended or expected result. Ex. 1 In an advertising campaign. A company could spend millions of dollars on commercials and billboards to get a product out there. That example would be effective, but not efficient. That same company could make a silly viral video and "leak" it for free on the internet. That would be efficient. But the best way would be to balance between both approaches. That would be both efficient and effective. Ex. 2 Suppose that two guys, X and Y, are trying to change a flat tire on their cars (each one has his own car). X starts by taking out the jack and placing it under the car. He quite doesn’t know where to position it, so he goes by trial and error and wastes a lot of time doing it. After 30 minutes he finally manages to fix it, so he proceeds to lift the car and change the tire. As you can see X was doing the right thing, but he was doing it poorly. We can say that he was being effective, but not efficient. Y, on the other hand, starts by grabbing a towel and cleaning the tire. He wants to make the thing shiny before he changes it. And mind you he is very good and fast at cleaning every little......

How Do You Think

... HOW DO YOU THINK MARION HODLE LACKAWANNA COLLEGE ABSTRACT Are you a creative thinker? Can you be inspired to write or draw from a walk through a museum? Can you come up with a few good ideas from just lying in the grass at the park? If this is the way your mind works and how you go about solving problems then you’re a creative thinker. If you get inspirations or some of your best answers by looking up facts, reading up on subjects and linking information you already know to be true, you’re a critical thinker. Critical Thinking Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. It’s a persons ability to engage in independent thinking. They can understand logical concepts between ideas, like linking thoughts. They can identify and construct arguments and detect common mistakes in reasoning over things. Creative thinking involves solving problems systematically. It also includes the identification and importance of ideas. Critical thinking can reflect on a person’s beliefs and values. Critical thinking is not based on how much a person knows. Even if you have a good memory and know a lot of facts it still does not mean you are a good critical thinker. A good critical thinker knows how to use his knowledge to solve problems and seek relevant sources of information. Critical thinking does not mean a person is critical or argumentative. It can also play a role in cooperation and reasoning. We use critical thinking to enhance our social situations. Some people...

Do You Think It Is Possible to End Extreme Poverty in the Next 30 Years?

...through 6 months of completing the fraud packet and forensics investigation of the signature analysis, the case was dismissed. For the meantime, one would probably think I went rock bottom. It was a challenge finding employment with the background check and disclosures one has to make. As I meditated and applied the mind development technique I have learned through the years, I decided to weed out the negativity and attract the goodness. I accept the hardships in life and the opportunities to make me a stronger, empowered creature of God so I can be a model in His image and likeness. From the unemployment bureau to the Department of Social Services, I sought help. I volunteered for the Greater Avenues for Independence Source. Under President Obama’s stimulus program to help Women in Minority Business Entrepreneurs, a local city pays the salary for the GAIN participant to gain experience. As I had a flash of insight that I went rock bottom, I addressed the message and replied, “Yes, I’ve hit rock bottom, let me start all over again.” As the famous adage goes, “life begins at 40.” When my former spouse declares that I move on with my life as he has moved on. When the leadership at the Navy Operational Support Center who I served the US Navy for 8 years orders that the leadership will not allow me to re-enlist because of a “do not retain” in my last evaluation report; an allegation which I protested were not true, only to be counseled “sometimes, people say or hear when it is......

Do You Think It Is Acceptable to Sacrifice the Life of One Person to Save Two?

...acceptable to sacrifice the life of one person, to avoid two people dying. I think this because even though there is a chance of you saving the other person, but in most situations it is very unlikely and rational of the person to try and do so. Therefore, making the event of two people dying instead of one seems like a silly, stupid option, and all that for the off chance that you might save the person. Also, it is the duty of any person or society that when given a situation where at least one person will die, we should try to save as many people as possible. Therefore, we take the choice where there is the least amount of sacrifice: we sacrifice one innocent person, so that 1 may live. It's only common sense; better to have one dead than two. As humans, our moral duty is to save as many lives as possible in any given situation. Surely we should always you try to keep as many people alive as possible. On the off chance that the person risks their life and does save the other person, and then it was still a risk taken, but a risk also worthwhile. In terms of people’s morals and ethics, no-one would ever consider sacrificing the life off another person, as it would be against most people’s natural instinct. In the book ‘touching the void’, Simon knows that Joe is a dead man and has to cut the rope and leave Joe there too die, in this situation, Simon has only one thing too do. Though you would think he had the choice off trying to help him and risk his own life, but......

What Do You Think Is the Significance of Mirrors in the Bloody Chamber?

...‘She smiled at herself in the mirror too often these days.’ What do you think is the significance of mirrors in the Bloody Chamber? Mirrors are used in The Bloody Chamber, The Courtship of Mr Lyon and The Tiger’s Bride as a very effective plot device. The way that they are used differs between the three stories but all have a slight magical quality in keeping with the fairy tale theme. Within all three short stories there is an existing theme of metamorphosis. The first mention of mirrors within The Bloody Chamber is within the intimate scene between the Marquis and the heroine of the story. The bed chamber is surrounded by mirrors, amplifying all of the intense emotions of the scene. This is because the mirrors repeat the scene 12 times over ‘a dozen husbands impaled a dozen wives’ the violent and emotive language used makes the reader feel uncomfortable and highlights the connection between sexuality and violence throughout the book. In the use of the mirrors throughout this scene Carter succeeds in heightening the horrific nature of the scene through the addition of more reflected couples to the scene. The mirrors also create a pornographic element to the scene, making it appear as though the Marquis and the girl are being observed by onlookers. In using mirrors throughout this scene some of the Marquis perverse sexual desires are revealed to the readers, helping to foreshadow what is to come later on in the story. As the protagonist has discovered the books that......

Do You Think Attitudes Influence Job Performance?

...North South University Assignment prepared for: Jasim Uddin (JDN) MGT321: Oraganizational behavior. Assignment prepared by:Kamrul Hasan ID:0930875030 Date:03/10/2011 Do you think attitudes influence job performance? Justify your arguments logically using evidence. The obvious straight forward answer to this question is yes. Yes, attitudes influences job performance very much. The attitude of the employee affects job performance. When employees arrive at work, they bring with them their moods, their emotions, their opinions and their problems at home or with life in general. Since employees may have the need to cooperate with each other to get the work done, their attitude will have great influence on productivity, their relationships with each other and productivity on the job. It is like when an employee has a good attitude about a job, the whole chore just flows so easily leading them to think that the work is so smooth, easy and hassle free; which at the end of the day eventually holds a huge positive impact on their performance at the workplace. But, here is the opposite scenario, when an employee has a bad attitude about a job, he or she will realize either incidentally or coincidentally everything about the work gets wrong, even the silly things which should not be a problem turns out to be huge mistakes. Now let’s go back to the core question WHAT IS AN ATTITUDE? The absolute basic meaning suggests that an attitude is a way......

Do You Think Culture Is Important to Organizational Performance?

...Do you think culture is important to organizational performance? By TAN KAR CHU The topic I choose for this assignment is “Do You Think Culture Is Important To Organizational Performance”. There are many definition of Organizational culture that had been made but based on what I had learn, Organizational culture is the value and assumptions shared within an organizational which defines the important and unimportant in the company and, consequently, directs everyone in the organization toward the “right way” of doing things (McShane & Glinow, 2009). But according to Maher (2014), organizational culture is a major factor which affects the speed and frequency of innovation. Nowadays, new develop organization should know that to establish a successful organizations they should adopts and adapts culture to their organization in order to know whether their organizational performance is good or not. I believe that culture is important to organizational performance. First of all organisations that want to be innovative must transform their organizational culture so that it has innovation-oriented culture (Szczepańska, 2014), which means that the employee has to be able to generate innovative ideas in a short times. When the innovation-oriented organizational culture has been create, it will forming a climate that would be positive to the organizational changes. But, in order to toughen the culture for innovation within and across the organisations, employee should be brave......

Think, Feel and Do: I ♥ You

...THINK, FEEL AND DO: I ♥ YOU “True love waits”. And to simplify this briefly, there are three steps on how to prepare in engaging ourselves in relationship. First, solve unresolved problems. Forgiveness and acceptance of one’s failure must always stay in our hearts so that we can move on from our past. Let your rejection be your key to be a better person. Second, stop believing in the “right person myth”. Looking for the perfect one for us is never true. We may feel deeply in love to that person but as we grow day by day with him/her we will meet lots of his hidden attitude that we don’t know yet. Lastly, start becoming the right person. Take the effort and discipline to be the person, the person you’re looking for. Instead of thinking of having our ideal partner for the future let us think also the other way around, molding ourselves to be like the person we are looking for. I Corinthian chapter 13 verses 4-5 said “Love is PATIENT, love is KIND. it does not ENVY, it does not boast, it is not PROUD, it is not RUDE, it is not is not easily ANGERED, it keeps NO RECORD of WRONGS. It always PROTECTS, always TRUSTS, always HOPES, and always PERSEVERES. LOVE NEVER FAILS...” In other words, love is not an easy act it is “sacrificial”. Therefore, before we enter in a relationship we must know first our priorities and ready ourselves in taking that tract. In addition, we must also discern well on what vocation we will pursuing for the future. We must preserve our......
