Manage personal work priorities and professional development

My work describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage own performance and professional development. Particular emphasis is on setting and meeting priorities, analysing information and using a range of strategies to develop further competence.

Assessment Task Part A – Personal Work Goals

Further information include that:
1. Poor priorities can lead to indecision or bad decisions, missed deadlines, listlessness, fatigue, poor time use and a sense of being overwhelmed that may produce resource wastage, reduced productivity, higher cost, frustration, low self-esteem and stress.
2. Managing priorities that highlight important goals allows sound decision-making, realistic scheduling, elimination of low priority tasks and higher productivity and profitability.
3. Failure to maintain personal and professional growth and development throughout one’s work life can lead to career stagnation, personal disinterest, loss of motivation and possibly loss of job security.
4. Lack of support from immediate supervisors, no staff development time available; little coaching/mentoring assistance can undermine professional development activities.

* Report on the performance improvement plan that was developed. * Report on the requirements for specialist support, the ongoing feedback process and the support services needed by the organisation.

* Report on the steps to be followed in the termination of a staff member.

Business School Application Essay

...Contribution and Diversity Questions Your background, experiences, and values will enhance and diversify Kellogg. How? (1-2 double-spaced pages) The Darden School seeks a diverse and unique entering class of future managers. How will your distinctiveness enrich our learning environment and enhance your prospects for success as a manager? Every essay question on the admissions application is geared toward the same thing. Committee members want to find out who you are, what makes you different from everyone else, and how you will contribute to the school if accepted. This question asks these things outright. Because it asks so directly what the admissions committee wants to know, this is one of the most common questions you will find. The question has a structure similar to the Why M.B.A.? question. It asks both Why us? and Why you? However, the nature of this question lends itself to a more personal response. Whereas the Why M.B.A.? question asks what you have done, what you want to do, and how that relates to the school, this question asks about who you are and how it relates to the school. The Why M.B.A.? question asks about your experiences, and this question asks about your qualities. Just as you brainstormed about your experiences, actions, and goals for the first question, brainstorm about your qualities and characteristics for this one. What sets you apart from everyone else? What words do friends and family use to describe you? For some people, the......

Of course I was familiar with the meaning of Innovation but dealing with a subject like this in a deeper way can still change the way of how you define something for what it is and get aware of what other facts play an important role behind it. With the information and new knowledge gained as a result of the (guest)-lectures, the reading material and the business trip, I have gained an insight in to the topic of innovation and a better understanding of the innovation management. Business Law Essay

...Austin Friend Business Law 1 Prof. Brown Essay 1 Shannon taking the pain medication and operating a vehicle against the advice of her doctor caused her to hit a passenger in another vehicle, seriously injuring that person. In a court of law the Plaintiff in this case would be would be the passenger in the vehicle that was seriously injured and the defendant would be Shannon. Because of the passenger’s injury she would initiate a lawsuit, making her the plaintiff. Shannon in this case is the defendant, the reason for that is because she is the accused person in the lawsuit. This case would be held in a state court. Although federal courts are located in every state, they are not the only forum available to potential litigants. The vast majority of legal disputes in American courts are addressed in the separate state court systems. Federal courts are courts of "limited" jurisdiction because they may only decide certain types of cases as provided by Congress involving federal questions or diversity of citizenship as identified in the Constitution. Therefore Federal courts generally hear cases of constitutional nature or disputes between states. The Civil Court of original jurisdiction would have jurisdiction over this cause of action. Civil court is preponderance on the evidence as opposed to criminal court which is proof beyond a reasonable doubt. In addition, the party who brings the suit is the person who suffered harm in civil court. If the state was the party......

Business Essay

...Introduction “Good customer service is the lifeblood of any business. You can offer promotions and slash prices to bring in as many new customers as you want, but unless you can get some of those customers to come back, your business won’t be profitable for long.” (As cited in Customer Service – 8 Rules For Good Customer Service 2009.) Excellent customer service is one of the key necessities that a business must have to run a successful enterprise. Businesses in today’s world are changing, especially in the marketing department. Weather the business is a large one, for example Wall Mart or just small local businesses that are family owned and operated, such as Wayne’s Drive Inn. The main point of any business is to focus on what the customers need is and to make sure they are satisfied with the quality of service that the business is providing. Businesses need to provide their employees on the front line with proper training, which means those employees that have contact and interact with customers on daily basis’s, weather face to face or verbally must be able to offer the amount of service required. Training is also important for business’s employees because those are the people your customers deal with, and also those employees are the face of the business. Therefore a businesses selection of employees can either make or break ones business. “Well, the Harvard Business Review reports that if you can prevent 5% of your customers from leaving you, you can increase......

A Business Essay

...spending. Many OECD governments are under pressure to reduce government deficits. In the case of the euro zone countries, these pressures are institutionalised in the form of the Stability and Growth Pact. The reactions of countries in this position will depend on the form of these constraints. For example, the attractiveness of the International Finance facility may depend on how the future commitments appear in the government budget. The second concern is with the level of taxation, which would need to rise to finance increased ODA. In this case, the alternatives may not offer a solution. A globally administered Tobin tax may not enter the government budget of a particular country, but it may contribute to the perceived burden of doing business in that country. The profitability of London or Frankfurt as financial centres, for example, might be reduced. Thirdly, governments may be concerned with “donor fatigue” among its electorate. This would inhibit government participation in the devising of new sources, as well as discouraging increased ODA. Given the possible importance of such “fatigue”, it is significant that the OECD study by McDonnell et al (2003) reports that “public support in OECD DAC Member countries for helping poor countries has remained consistently high for almost two decades: there is no aid fatigue” (2003, summary). They caution that concern remains about effectiveness, and that public understanding of poverty and development issues remains low. This is a......

Business Essay

...I frequently encountered the need to make decisions of considerable importance during both my managerial and my military work. However, one of the most difficult decisions I ever made was a personal decision that concerned my future. This internal conflict could better reflect who I am. In the last four years I have progressed, with great effort, in two areas: the business-managerial area and the political area. In both fields I have accomplished, considering my age, significant achievements. In the business area, I served as Vice President in a private company owned by my family. In the political area, I worked in a few positions in my municipality, and as an assistant to the Deputy Minister of Defense. My aim was to acquire diverse experiences and knowledge, and this aim was achieved. A year ago, I reached the conclusion that it was time to decide if in the near future (in 10-20 years), I wanted to attain a career in business management or a career in politics. I reached a point where without setting a general goal, I could not progress to other decisions (my next job, my masters degree field etc.). To resolve this conflict, my first step was to decide to make my decision by the deadline I set (June 2000). I realized that my years of experience in both areas were a part of a learning and searching process that granted me the necessary instruments to make this decision. My conflict was very sharp, because I knew that any decision I would make would mean giving up......

Till this time I have been living with my beloved parents in Narin district which is located about 40 kilometers far from the city of Namangan in Uzbekistan. There are five members in my family who are my parents, brother and little sister and me as well. ...Wilson Brothers Limited had six operating plants in Canada. They had also expanded to the western US market and had several plants in Europe. Wilson Export Division was responsible for exporting product to Japan and China. In 2000, the total sales volume of the Company was over $6 billion. The company was a Canadian business success story, both at home and abroad. In addition to the spectacular volume increases, the company was very well managed financially. It had no reason to go public to raise capital as it financed all of its expansion through earnings. There were several reasons for the Company’s exponential growth. First and foremost, the brothers valued hard work. They each worked ten to twelve hours per day, even in the latter stages of their careers. Consequently, their senior and middle management group worked similar hours. Secondly, each brother was a skilled salesman in the traditional sense. Their handshake was their bond. Thirdly, they had tremendous “cultural sensitivity.” Whenever they expanded to foreign markets, they recruited a local executive to be CEO at that location so that the local culture was respected and integrated to business practices (fostered). They assigned a Canadian executive to be VP Finance so that financial reporting was consistent across all Company operations. The brothers were proud of the exponential growth of the Company and were particularly proud of their Canadian roots. This pride and work ethic permeated......

Business Law Final Essay

...Business Law Final Essay Question #2 Unfortunately, it sounds as if Carol was knowingly swindled. Whereas it would seem that Carol would be able to get John’s statements, “was a creampuff” and “this car runs like it was driven by a little, old lady”, she would not be able to. The comments that John made would be seen as puffery most likely. Puffery is unfortunately legal in the United States. A seller is allowed to make statements asserting their opinion of value that the buyer cannot rely on as the basis for the bargain. This is almost a “buyer beware” situation where John’s statements cannot be proven and are speculative in nature. “Creampuff” and “driven by a little, old lady” could also be open to interpretation. However, the statement that John made to Carol, “Definitely would pass inspection” is most definitely an express warranty. “Express warranties are specific promises made by the seller and include oral representations, written representations, descriptions of the goods or services, representations in samples and models, and proof of prior quality of the goods or services.” John made a promise to Carol and represented the car as being “definitely” able to pass inspection. The kid was also acting as an agent for Shady’s when he promised to fix Carol vehicle. Carol may run into the problem of not having a witness hear John’s statements to her and having his statements being considered hearsay. John’s statements about the car being able pass inspection......
