I fell in love. And I shouldn’t have. I knew the moment that I started feeling this way that I should stop it. Distance myself from him immediately. But I couldn’t. Because you see, love really is like a drug, as cliché as that sounds. You start off saying that its casual, it won’t be all the time. But then it consumes you and eventually you look back and wonder how you were pulled so deep into its almighty, life-ruining clutches. Even if you’re like me and you’ve been there before, you can’t pull away. No matter how hard you try. I noticed him first, when I was at work. He was such a dude. He always came in from the gym, hot and sweaty and beautiful, with a bag of food in his hands. He would slap his guy friends on the back and they’d make plans for later. Usually, he’d say hi, maybe stop for a minute to chat and then he was on his way. But sometimes, he would sit and eat while I worked. He’d talk about everything and nothing, all at the same time. But he made me smile. God, he made me smile. I didn’t realize that I loved him then. Then he started dating my friend. She would sit at my shift and tell me how wonderful he was. She’d say how he was so thoughtful, what he had texted her that day, and how good of a kisser he was. I’d smile and shake my head at her romantic antics. I’d tell myself I was happy for her, and I was. Nothing else seemed to change. Day by day, it was always, “hey, how are you? I’m good. How’re classes going?” But sometimes it was more. Sometimes, he would tell me stories about his friends, where he was from, how much he hated Josh Hutcherson. But he made me laugh. God, he made me laugh. I didn’t realize I loved him then. Then this year happened. My grandmother died. I didn’t see him before he left for the summer. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Accounting. My dad was put in a nursing home, where he withered away before my eyes. I came…...

Falling in Love

...FALLING IN LOVE BY: ANONYMOUS When you think of your past love, you may view it as a failure. But when you find a new love, you view the past as a teacher. In the game of love, it doesn't really matter who won or who lost. What is important is you know when to hold on and when to let go! You know you really love someone when you want him or her to be happy, even if his or her happiness means that you're not part of it. Everything happens for the best. If the person you love doesn't love you back, don't be afraid to love someone else again, for you'll never know unless you give it a try. You'll never truly love a person you love unless you RISK FOR LOVE. Love strives in hurting. If you don't get hurt, you don't learn how to love. Love doesn't hurt all the time, though the hurting is still there to test you and to help you grow. Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's called falling in love because you don't force yourself to fall. You just fall. You cannot finish a book without closing its chapters. If you want to go on, then you have to leave the past as you turn the pages. Love is not destroyed by a single failure nor won by a single caress. It is a lifetime venture in which we are always learning, relearning, discovering, rediscovering, and growing. The greatest irony of love is LETTING GO WHEN YOU WANT TO HOLD ON and HOLDING ON WHEN YOU NEED TO LET GO. We lose someone we love only when we are destined to find someone else who can love us even more than we can......

Falling Man

...Falling man The “Falling man” follows Keith, a few-and-thirty-year-old New Yorker who works in a real estate company in the World Trade Center. He also works in the World Trade Center when the attack happens the 11th September - but he is lucky and gets out of the first tower before it collapses. Hurt and confused he goes home to Lianne, Keith’s exwife and wants to get back together with her. They resume their in disjointed fragments, a form of cohabitation. The novel is, especially in a non-US context, an interesting description and interpretation of what the terrorist attacks meant for the New Yorker’s self-understanding. The terrorist attack splits, like the kind of catastrophic events tend to make the world into a before and an after. “It was no longer a street, but a world, a time and space of falling ash and near night. (...) The roar was still in the air, the fall along curved rumbling. This was the world now. ..” The downfall, the catastrophic dust chaos, is in the novel structure also a new beginning, and Keith's appearance in Liannes doorway is a violent return from the dead: "When he stood in the doorway, it was not possible, a man come out of an ash storm, nothing but blood and slag, which stank of something burnt, with pinpoint glimpses of shattered glass in his face." Keith's return after the terrorist attacks becomes a crucial event that puts the protagonists' lives upside down. But unlike the traditional magazine layout of such experiences where they......

Love

...Love is a concept that may mean many things to many people, but there is one thing the same throughout all ideas of love. People can love other people, animals, or now material objects, but it is all the same thing: love. Giving into their emotions and psychological temptations causes them to fall in love.  There are many examples of emotional changes associated with the idea of falling in love. As Thomas Lewis, M.D. states, "Emotions do more than color our sensory world, they are at the root of everything we do, the unquenchable origin of every act more complicated than a reflex. In all cases, emotions are humanity's motivator and its omnipresent guide" (36). This statement backs the argument that love, an emotion, can propel people to do things they normally wouldn't. It proves that when people fall in love, it is the strongest emotion that they base other actions upon. Shakespeare agrees love is the strongest emotion, and falling in love will cause the human mind to take a backseat to all other thinking, such as Romeo and Juliet's did in the tragic epic of the lovers (2). Falling in love is a result of letting these feelings overtake the normal, sane mind.  Love is made up of many feelings and other emotions, but there are three necessary ingredients to have real love. Sternberg, a psychologist, agrees that there are three components necessary in the love triangle: ALove can be understood as a triangle of which each point is on of these three components: intimacy......

Have You Ever Experienced Falling in Love?

...Have you ever experienced falling in love? How do you know if you're in love? Does age really matter when you fall in love? What does love feel like? These are some of the questions asked by teenagers like me. I, as a teenager, admit that I have loved someone, and have been loved back. At first, I didn't know that, but I woke up one morning and realized that I was in love with him. I taught myself that time that I was too young for love since I was just 15 years old back then, but in reality, age does not really matter at all. Love is the greatest feeling in the whole world. Moreover, as a teenager we can't help but get curious in things like love. So I decided to read an article about teenage love. And while I was browsing the internet, I've come across an article entitled "What Teenage Love is" by Francis Githinji an Online Dating Expert. Furthermore, in everyone’s teenage years, we will encounter different people, get interested with someone, we want to be loved and fall in love. There will also come a time in our adolescent years where we will get an urge to fall in love with someone so that we will not be left behind with what is trending, because this is part of our physical growth as a teen. Francis Githinji states that "Teenage is a confusing place to be because you are not old enough to be called mature and you are not too young to be called a child.” Francis is right, we are in a place of confusion because......

Falling Rupee

... Rupee heading for 60? It is difficult to stop the slide The Indian rupee is making headlines today, but mostly for the wrong reasons. Its value has been falling against the US dollar steadily and since the beginning of 2012, it has fallen 23 per cent, closing at a record low of Rs 55.39 on Tuesday.    The worrisome fact, however, is that no one has any inkling, the government and the Finance Ministry the least, as to how deep the rupee will fall and how long will the downturn last? Research units of some banks have already predicted that the rupee may soon touch 60  to a dollar. About a month ago when the rupee was at 48, such predictions would have looked preposterous, but not anymore. Worst, neither the Finance Ministry nor the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) can do much to stop the fall. There are several reasons behind this pessimistic view. The most important factor is that India’s deficit in foreign trade – excess of imports against exports – has ballooned to an all time high of $185 billion in 2011-12, a whopping 56 per cent more than $119 in 2010-11. Similarly, the import bill for gold and silver was at $60 billion, the second largest item in the basket.      Our imports went up by 32 per cent in 2011-12 to Rs 489 crore, our exports at Rs 304 crore were higher by 21 per cent. Since the financial turmoil in Europe has resulted in severe demand contractions in many European countries, a major destination for Indian exports, India’s total export earnings, experts......

...approach to investigate on the topic of why men fall in love more than women. Men are more likely to falling in love if they over perceive sexual interest and physical attractiveness in women. Hence, women have become skeptical in a relationship. First hypothesis shows that men will usually fall in love with most recent partner, love more partners in their lifetime, experience more “love at first sight” and more unreturned love compared to females. The second hypothesis shows that individuals who over perceive others’ sexual interest will fall in love more frequently with chances to experience “love at first sight”. The third hypothesis states individuals who value physical attractiveness will have more partners, fall in love easily with latest attractive partner and more love at first sight experiences. The fourth hypothesis shows that individuals with a higher sexual desire will fall in love easily. The methods used were online questionnaire to both sexes with a sample size of 357. A qualitative research is used in a heterosexual community. Participants are 18-year-old and above. The dependent measures are the rating scale from 1 to 7. The specific measures used are timing of love, frequency of love, frequency of “love at first sight” and physical appearance of the latest partner. In hypothesis 1, the result shows that prediction on timing is not supported as there are no sexual differences between the falling in love time. Prediction on frequency is not......

Fearless and Falling Man

...Fearless and Falling Man In the movie Fearless, it narrated how Max Klein reacted in his life after he survived from a terrible air crash. Although Max had been able to survive in the crash and helped other passengers on the air to escape from the fired airplane, he was living under the shadow of the air crash. The terrible air crash brought Max both painful memories about the crash. In general, Max’s behavior is a kind of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a kind of anxiety disorder. This kind of disorder is able to occur after someone has gone through a traumatic event involving injury or death. For example, it was hard for Max to walk out of the shadow of the air crash. That is, the memory about the crash belonging to Max was indelible. The fact drove Max’s memory simulated and indelible is the process his getting out of the plane. No matter when Max felt that he was not able to breathe and depress, he would love to rush to some wide space to get relaxed. For instance, when he was crowed by a lot of journalists to be asked to say something about the crash, he just rushed and kept running until he saw the sea. It just liked Max escaped from the plane that was a small space to a Bakersfield that was wide enough. For Max, it was a way out of the plane, and it was a method away from death. As I mentioned above, it was hard for Max to walk out of the shadow of the crash. Consequently, he needed some coping methods to help him to be psychologically healthy. He went...

Falling Stars

...Falling stars aren't stars at all, they're actually tiny pieces of dust impacting the Earth's atmosphere and burning up. You might also have heard them called "shooting stars", but their scientific name is "meteors". Let's learn some more about falling stars. Space looks empty, but there's all kind of stuff out there: gas, dust and tiny rock and ice fragments. The tiny pieces of rock or ice are known as meteoroids. They could have been left over from the formation of the Solar System 4.6 billion years ago. Or maybe they were part of the tail of a comet that was making a near pass to the Sun. Rocks and asteroids can collide with one another in space and generate meteoroid debris. Who knows how long the tiny object was orbiting the Sun until its path finally crossed the Earth. When a meteoroid strikes the Earth's atmosphere, it burns up leaving a tiny trail in the sky. This trail is the falling star, or meteor. The size of the trail depends on the speed of the object, the angle it struck the atmosphere at, and the amount of mass that it has. The largest objects can leave a trail across the sky that lasts for a few seconds. Although you can see falling stars any night of the year, there are certain times when they're more frequent. These are the times when the Earth orbit takes us through the tail of an ancient comet. We'll pass through the tail fragments at the same time every year, so a meteor shower is predictable. Some famous meteor showers are the Perseids in August, and...

Falling in Love

...Instructor: Title: Date due: Falling in Love It is intriguing how two strangers can get to know each other and seem like they were never apart. It is the basis of what marriage often refers to becoming one in body and soul. The reason behind all this is falling in love. Falling in love is used in the context of romantic relationships. It is a Western ideology that describes shifting away from a feeling of being neutral as a person to close intimate and emotional attachment to another person, usually of the opposite sex. The term is used to explain a process of interaction and understanding the inner most aspects of a person. It later grows into acceptance of the person’s positive and negative attributes. The feeling of ‘love’ eventually grows strong. When the term ‘fall’ is used, it means that falling in love is an irreversible, uncontrollable and risky affair. It makes the so called victim be in a situation where they are vulnerable. It is a strong longing and desire to be with the other person, without a credible explanation as to why they would want to do that. It makes it seem as if the person is falling in a trap. There are certain factors that enhance the process of falling in love. They include proximity to each other, having similar tastes and preferences, reciprocity where the love given is received in equal measure and being physically attractive. Medically, there is narcissistic identification that occurs when people fall in love. For instance, there are......

Love

... 2014 I fell in love with my high school sweetheart “A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person” A happy marriage is one where you both work on issues to solve them, you both respect, and love each other, and want to be with your spouse like it was the first day you met, it’s when you know there may be bumps in the road, but together you will ride them out and emerge with them even stronger and have a stronger bond it’s when you know someone and that someone will always have your back and vise versa, it’s when you see each other after being apart even for a couple of hours and smile in a genuine way and having that happiness of being reunited. I would always not expect perfection to me a happy marriage means good communication skills both talking and listening, respect and responsibility for oneself. You should be able to be happy for each other when things are tough. You can be down on your luck, but a happy marriage means that at the end of the day you are happy to be with you your partner no matter what the circumstances may be. When you signed that paper, you made a promise to be with that person till death till you part. Falling in love with your partner many times might mean you should try different things. Love

...For the longest time, I’ve tried to convince myself that love is not a feeling, but a concept, and an ignorant concept at that. So for the longest time, I’ve let myself break hearts and I’ve let myself have broken hearts. Never once would I admit that the reason for these shattered pieces was the ugly act of love. Id break myself down and pass the pieces around, but it was hardly Love’s fault. For the longest time, I was a believer in nothing. As a teenage girl just into high school, it’s my job to laugh at love and call it cliché. Isn’t it? I let people in and once they get comfortable, id close the door to my heart with them on the outside, wondering what they’d done wrong. But that’s just it, nobody ever did anything wrong. I was naïve and I wasn’t perfect. It’s funny the idea of perfection, of course it’s not like I thought I was anywhere near close to the concept of being perfect. I just deemed love farthest away from it. It wasn’t until later that I realized it was I who was, indeed, farthest. See, it wasn’t until much later that I realized there is nothing more important than perfection. I never expected everyone who walked into my life to be perfect. It was nothing like that. I’m not sure what it was like, though. People were meant to be exactly like myself, I thought. It was the fear of falling in love, it was the fear of feeling nothing at all. Maybe if others ached from it too, did seem just a little less insane. Maybe, just maybe I wanted someone. Maybe......

Snow Falling on Cedar

...America, a land considered to be of the free, they are often surprised to see that their differences in tongue are not accepted as easily as one would hope and furthermore go to undermine their sense of power and voice in America. This concept can undoubtedly be seen in the movie, Snow Falling on Cedars. It is the story of Ishmael (American) who falls in love with Hatsue (Japanese) and the struggles that they endure as their love is ripped into shreds by the sharp blades of racial divide. In Snow Falling on Cedars, language plays a particularly important role. English presides as the dominant language in America and further emphasizes the racial hierarchy in which Americans are given the upper hand and non-Americans are constantly silenced. Consider the dynamics of the courtroom in Snow Falling on Cedars. Kabuo, an American veteran of Japanese decent is accused of murdering an American fisherman. We can see the courtroom is filled with racial prejudice as the prosecuting attorney, Mr. Hooks, proclaims to the all white jury, “Look into [Kabuo’s] eyes. Consider his face. Ask yourself, each one you, what is my duty as a citizen of this community, of this country, as an American?” (Hicks, Snow Falling on Cedars). Pay attention to Hooks diction. He asks the jury to derive Kabuo’s guilt from his “eyes” and his “face”, both physical features. Hook never asks the jury to listen or understand Kabuo below the surface, which any rational mind would consider to be a more telling......

Falling in Love

... Falling in Love It's like the feeling you get when you stand in an azure world then you fall off the cliff with your eyes closed, the wind on your face and the euphoria of flying filled up your senses. It will be the most understatement of the year when I say that it is just a simple feeling created by the mind, believed by the heart and followed by the soul for in reality, it is exhilarating to say the least, the most powerful drug ever devised by nature for humankind. Nothing could ever compare to it, the sense of utter bliss that wraps one in an embrace so tight and so fast you feel like you can almost do anything. It comes without warning, it hits in an unexpected way and always catches one unaware in an unguarded moments that often times it wreaks the worst havoc before one can come to terms with it. And there is no telling when it would strike. An ordinary day in any time of the world, a smile, a whiff of perfume wafting in the air, an accidental momentary meeting of the eyes, a simple conversation and then it grabs you. And it fills you, gives your feet wings your mind is tricked into the impression that you can actually fly. It fools the senses. The eyes become clear and dewy at the same time, giving it a strange sparkle that eludes explanation from even the well- versed human biology. The cheeks become flushed with color and warmth which not even the coldest winds of December could ever dampen. The body has gone haywire because of the......

Love

...Nothing can come close to the love that a mother feels for her children. Most women are inherently excellent mothers. Women carry their young before they are born and then continue to nurture them throughout their childhood and even into adulthood. Mothers make sure that their children are safe and happy throughout their childhood. It is the unconditional love that a mother feels that drives these feelings. It is hard to describe the feeling that a mother has towards her children. In fact, most people do not understand unless they become a mother themselves. Raising children comes with its own share of frustrations, from the needy new born baby that requires regular care to the sullen teenager, a mother's job is anything but easy. A famous saying states that "God could not be everywhere and so he invented mothers", these words are a great inspiration to mothers across the world. When all is well, a mother puts her children before anything else, including their own comfort and happiness. Mothers give an awful lot of support to their children, whether it involves very visible support or simple background encouragement. Not only do mothers support their children, but they also often hold the whole family structure together. This role is not always plain sailing. A mother can also be upset or hurt. Remember that a mother often takes the fallout for the toddler tantrums and the teenage angst. Despite this, mothers, generally, will love their children no matter what they do.......
