...Chapter 2 Total health and fitness lifestyle benefits What Is Total Health and Fitness? The term total health (wellness) and fitness may be defined in a variety of ways. The most commonly used definition incorporates 5 areas- the mental, emotional, spiritual, social and physical. Although each area is important to your total health and well being, in this text we will only emphasize the physical characteristics of total health. However, since no single area can stand fully separated from the rest, we will discover how small parts of each area are inevitably intertwined with each other. When defining physical fitness, two terms are commonly used: health related fitness, and athletic performance related fitness (also referred to as motor, or skill fitness). ...Starbucks: Delivering Customer value Case Analysis Case facts • Howard Schultz’s idea with Starbucks in the mid 1980’s was to create a chain of coffeehouses with a product differentiation of specialty “live coffee”, service or customer intimacy with an “experience”, and an atmosphere of a “third place” to add to their work and home alternatives • The original stores sold whole beans and premium-priced coffee beverages by the cup and catered primarily to affluent, well educated, white-collar patrons between the ages of 25 and 44 • By 2002, there were over 5,000 stores around the globe • The specialty items included strategic alliances with Pepsi Cola to sell alternative beverages, Dreyer’s to develop and distribute a line of premium ice creams, Kraft Foods handled sales of coffee and alternative products to warehouse clubs, and various grocery store chains for their coffee. • Baristas (employees) were encouraged to interact with customers in a friendly and prompt manner, and were paid higher than average wages and benefits. Employees were considered partners and promotions were usually from within the company. • While Starbucks was the largest specialty coffee chain, many other chains competed directly with Starbucks, and many other chains could at any time enter retail specialty coffee sales (e.g. Dunkin Donuts, convenience stores, and many similar retail food stores. • New innovation was based upon partner acceptance. Delivering the Value of Sustainability: Corporate Perspective

...Introduction A paradigm shift currently indicates the global challenges that industries are facing and more companies are pressured to embrace sustainability as business conditions change. However, only recently corporations started integrating sustainability as the part of their business strategy as they came to recognize that it is an essential part in growing and establishing themselves as the leader in the competing environment. A well-executed sustainability strategy can enhance the company’s value and reinforce competitive advantage in the market while protecting the capital base. The balance of power has shifted between corporations and it is important to balance economic prosperity along with environmental and social dimensions. Sustainable business strategy represents a marked shift in traditional business practices and companies who do not adapt to the changes in these practices in order to achieve sustainable profitability will be more likely to face the brand value decline or even extinction in the future. For instance, the change represents the need to understand how all three dimensions affect each other and companies ought to consciously create new consumer preferences. However, a lot of companies still are missing guidelines to implementing a marketing strategy of sustainability as an essential part, which is at the core of ensuring organizational, social, economic and environment growth while managing overconsumption issues (White, 2011). Current......

A fitness gym is the best place to live a healthy lifestyle. Not only do they have machines that provide you to use every inch of your body, but they have supporters there as well. Personal trainers are trained not only to help you perfect a workout, but also to guide you in the right direction to living a healthy lifestyle. I enjoyed the support those personal trainers gave to me when I was on my own journey to losing weight. In 2012, I was at my heaviest at 200 lbs. While undertaking home exercises such as T25 and Insanity, I found that I hardly had any support from others. My family members were always there for me, but they could never find it in their hearts to tell me the truth; I was too big for my age. Constantly being put down by myself, I joined 24 Hour Fitness’ beginners program. With the help from others and the personal trainers that work there, I am now at my lightest. I lost 66 lbs. in 3 months and I have maintained my weight since then. I could not do it without the help of those members at 24 Hour Fitness. These machines need to be placed further apart from each other. Some of the members at 24 Hour Fitness have complained about the machines being too close. While a member is in their “zone”, it...

It can be due to all the stressful call of service that police officers respond to or just the way they are eating because of the lack of time. By being in this career field, it is very important to stay healthy and physically fit. Police officers can stay healthy and fit by implementing exercise programs, participating in physical activities, and eating healthy. Some of the challenges that police officers face is staying in shape. By working long hard hours and rarely having the time to eat a home cook meal will have major affect on a person’s body. By having some or little time after the work shift just to rest and for family time will make it difficult for a police officer to exercise. There are many things that can be implemented that can help a person’s physical fitness by just taking five minutes or less to perform. Delivering Business Value with It at Hefty Hardware

...Delivering business value with IT at Hefty Hardware How effective is the partnership between IT and business at Hefty? The partnership between the two is not very effective at all in fact it seems to be toxic. The chief information officer at Hefty gets replaced about every 2 or 3 years because of this. Below are the identified short comings for both IT and the business. Issues in the case Through the case I was able to identify several issue between business and information technology. First being poor communication between the two. This problem was immediately made clear. On page 78 there was a good example of this when Paul Gutierez talks to Jenny about how the new technology meeting went. The IT team had the business team so confused during the meeting that they eventually just tuned out and IT never actually got to talking about how the new technology could be used for marketing and why it was a good idea. The next issue is the lack of integration between IT and business. Not only do they have problems communicating the points they are trying to get across in language that can be easily understood, but the business end feels as though IT does not know how to meet their goals. A good example of this is on page 76 where it is discussed that “IT people don’t even know some of our basic business functions” and “We don’t feel IT is contributing to creating new business value for Hefty.” Lastly it seems as though there is bad time management and planning on the IT......

...“Just do it!” This is what I am constantly being told from my personal trainer when I work out at the YMCA to stay motivated to keep in shape. Fitness and health is the form of a person’s wellbeing by staying healthy and in shape. Eating healthy foods while working out and staying well hydrated is the healthiest way to becoming fit. Fitness and health can be well-defined three different ways such as mentally, physically and socially. First, fitness and health can be defined mentally by being psychologically prepared and being aware that making a change is possible. Having a positive outlook on life can be the difference between success and failure when it comes to change and improvement in one’s lifestyle. Thinking about all the positive things is what really helps while working out and staying healthy. Many people like to think about how great they will feel after they exercise and use it as motivation to keep working. Others also treat themselves to a healthy treat after. It is good idea to set some type of fitness or health goal, whether it is being mentally prepared or be willing to change the negative life style to a positive one. Second, fitness and health can be defined by being physically in shape. Working out is the main factor that will get one’s body to be physically fit. Eating healthy foods help the body with proper amount of nutrients to stay healthy. It is important to consume a decent amount of protein prior to exercising. Protein gives the body......
