Some of these task and activities include work, school, personal lives, and just everyday life duties. It is these activities that can lead a person to stress and anxiety because not everything can be accomplished in a daily basis. Time management can be the answer to help complete daily activities and eliminate stress brought on by this. Time management is a discipline that sometimes accompanied by many failures. When taken seriously, the rewards will be found and worth the effort (Repak).
Time consist of taking care of a family by a single parent or parents, maintaining a home, working a full-time job, and attending college to maintain a degree. Within trying to take care of these tasks, there are still smaller task that must be done. However, besides attending to these particular matters, a person must also find time relax and get sleep.
To resolve the problem of finding time to do all the activities that are required to be completed daily, a person must have good time management skills. The struggle of time management is not simply a case of cutting back or acquiring new skills because the exhaustion and fatigue that a person feels has a connection on so many areas of life – our relationships, disposition, availability, etc (Repak). Time management skills can help aid in keeping a person on schedule to accomplish as much as he or she can successfully and resourcefully.
Repak suggest that a person must make peace with oneself and find a schedule that best fits and make it work. Time is something that is always against students no matter what they do. Learning the skills to prioritize what is important and needed is valuable to a student’s success. As a college student, you are required to think in greater depth and complexity than ever before (Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007, p. 76). The first thing needed to do in order to mange your time appropriately is to break down the average day of a full time working student. This may include but not limited to work, school, relaxation, gym, family time, and unforeseen situations that may arise. It is always better to be over prepared than under prepared. As for most working students breaking down the average workday may help analyze and clarify the priorities in a given day. For most work may be the first priority and take up most of the day. The workday can range from eight to 12 hours a day. The second priority may be School and the time needed in order to receive a good grade and achieving their long-term goals. General Education Requirements

...Norfolk State University requires students to take general education courses to improve their knowledge in other areas. This knowledge will come in handy when college students are working in their field of study post grad. After taking general education courses I am able to incorporate that knowledge into my daily life and have accurate information about a different culture. With the knowledge of those general courses I am able to apply them to my daily life. The computer courses that I took introduced me to different kinds of programs that are used by most companies. In my class we were required to navigate through all parts of Microsoft Office entirely. I am now able to connect files between the different Microsoft Office programs. The several computer courses that I took were beneficial in keeping up with the growing technology. A lot of courses that I need for my degree are being created online to allow more flexibility to my schedule. In order to do well in these courses I need to be familiar with Microsoft Office programs so that I can do my assignments. This familiarity is essential so that I do not submit sloppy assignment s to my professors simply because I didn’t know how to organize my work in the right Microsoft Office program. Another course that I took was Social Science which consisted of a wide variety of subjects from sociology and psychology to geography and economics. The topic about economics is useful to me because I am very interested in the value......

Effective Study Skills Are the Core Foundation of a Sound Education

...‘Effective Study Skills are the sole foundation of a sound education’ Word Count: 490 Study skills are the method by which we learn in school and throughout life. ‘Study skills are approaches applied to learning. They are generally critical to success in school, considered essential for acquiring good grades, and useful for learning throughout one's life.’ (Wikipedia 2 March 2014). A sound education is defined as being able to read and write, passing recognised exams and obtaining a job. ‘Skill’ as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary is the ability to do something well. ‘Study skills don’t hatch fully formed ….. they evolve and mature through practice, reflection, trial and error …’ (Cottrell 2013). Without the correct skills for studying it will be more difficult to succeed academically. It is not necessary to be clever in order to succeed academically but without the necessary skills to help you learn it will be more difficult. The five study skills as listed in the Study Skills Handbook, Fourth Edition, are self-awareness and self-evaluation, task awareness, strategy, method and organisation, confidence and sense of entitlement and familiarity, practice and habit (Cottrell 2013). In general any skill that helps the student pass exams can be a study skill such as time management, knowing which subjects to choose and creating the correct environment to study in. At school the environment is created for the student with structured learning but for a......

Final Paper for Foundations of Education

...Final Paper Quenlan Dunn Thiel College Foundations of Education was a broad overview of many topics teachers talk about and deal with and the situations that will come about when in the field of teaching. It is a high demanding field with very high intrinsic rewards because you are educator of the future of our great nation to compete against other countries, and possibly other planets. Teaching is a very important profession for our nation’s success. The most important question you can ask yourself is, “Do I want to be a teacher?” There are a lot of rewards and challenges. The two types of awards expressed in chapter one were intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. More often than not, teachers are most often to experience intrinsic rewards since there are not many monetary benefits for being a teacher. Intrinsic rewards that teachers may receive are successful students in their field of study, increasing students to pursue the field of study that the teacher teaches in, or just the connection you get from their students. Some extrinsic rewards that teachers look for are job security and long vacations. Classroom activities should be multidimensional, simultaneous, immediate, unpredictable, and public. The teacher should not just be a teacher, but also a friend, coworker, and sometimes even a parent. Some problems will come up at the same time so the teacher also needs to be able to deal with multiple problems at once. Also those problems should be dealt with immediately. A......

General Education Requirments

...General Education Requirement: Are They a Waste to Students? In the higher education system, students all across the country have to take general education requirements (GER). GER’s are classes that colleges require their students to take, classes that some students may not even necessarily need. This, in many ways, has been thought to prolong the course of study for many students. Which if you were to ask any of the students on our campus, you would see that this can have positive and negative effects on all of us. These general education requirements are found to be a hindrance to many students across the nation. Many people believe that GER’s are a burden to students and we would say that most of us do agree with that. Most students believe that general education requirements are a waste of our time and our money. Many of us feel as if we have to take these classes just to take them, it’s like throwing our time and money out the door. Sometimes these GER’s are useless for what we are majoring in, and sometimes it can be extremely challenging for us to pass subjects that we are very weak in. This is another reason why GER’s are found to be a hindrance to students, because the fear of failing the class may keep them from coming to college, period. Although we see many people leaning towards the opposition of GER’s, we also have to keep in mind that some people believe that GER’s help students. Some say that if students did not take GER’s that it would be harder for that...
