To have career success in your workplace requires developing professional knowledge

and abilities to be able to increase your daily output. Using certain organizations and

associations is also important when trying to gain professional knowledge like the one I use.

LeTip Tempe Professionals is a great place to meet people that are in your same business field. I

will be describing this organization’s contribution towards my knowledge and abilities and I will

discuss how this knowledge can impact your career success.

Tempe Professionals is a networking group that allows business professionals to meet

twice a month and trade referrals with each other. This charter started in 2004 and the business

men and women who contribute, continue to grow their businesses through referrals from one

another. Tempe professionals have set the standard for word-of-mouth referrals in Arizona. Not

only have they passed over a million dollars worth of leads this year, they have also taught me

how to increase my professional knowledge and abilities within my own company. Perfecting your knowledge and abilities in a company can sometimes take years, this is

why I joined Tempe Professionals. Not only am I receiving many new clients that can help our

business, I am also able to meet with many business professionals that can give me a leg up in

the game. According to Carol Carter and Joyce Bishop (2007), a mentor is a trusted advisor who

will help you make academic and career decisions. This is exactly what I have received from the

Tempe Professionals which is a few new mentors to advice me and many new referrals. All of

the knowledge I have gained will also help me in my own personal business.

...GEN 200 3/3/13 I determined the sources for my essay to be reliable because they came from some credible sites. One of my sources came from a .com website that is from a college library. The other came from a .org which I find reliable as it is a well-established organization. Finally my third choice for a source is a .edu that is from a research institute. I also did a little research on the authors and they were all well established and respected writers which would also make my research more reliable. All three of my selections were relevant because they were all on the same subject of responsibility as my essay is on personal responsibility. My sources were also all fairly recent the oldest of the three was written in 1994 but I still find the information very useful and it still applies with these modern times. The other two sources were a little newer one was written in 2009 and the other was written in 2013. One of my sources which is The Heritage foundation that is a .org website is a very conservative organization and that would tell me that the author would have a bias based on his political views. Another website I used which is Brookings institute is a .edu and their views seem to me are more towards the liberal side and would also have a bias because of their beliefs. My third choice was geared more towards a law standpoint. I think the information I have used in my essay will do more to strengthen my essay because it all backs up my thesis...

...Personal Responsibility GEN/200 August 9, 2012 Personal Responsibility Although many people do not stop to think what personal responsibility really truly means to them, they have never realized that living without it could not only jeopardize their way of life and career goals, but also their relationship with others. I like to believe that I live with personal responsibility every day just to live happily and to help me succeed in my goals. I have set goals in the past and achieved them using my experience as a female veteran and as an adult. It has been proven that if an individual does not have a grip on responsibilities, then they do not have a grip on self-esteem and self-worth (Morling, Rothbaum, & Rusk, 2009). When an individual that does not have personal responsibility, their personal life could really lack fulfillment and pleasure. An individual that is lacking personal responsibility cannot live to their full potential and have everything they have ever wanted on a mental and material level. If a person lacks a main aspect to live the right way, they cannot become satisfied with their life and are not doing anything to take charge of the problems that they have acquired along the way from incompetence. If there is a lack responsibility, then they do not have any confidence (Clouder, 2009). Confidence is a feeling that anyone should have about life as an adult. An individual might find it hard to take charge of their life the way they want to......

...Functions of Management Paper Billy Reese Mgmt/330 March 8, 2010 Kelly Wagner Functions of Management There are four functions of management that need to be implemented in order for any organization and its management team to be successful. The four functions are, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All four functions are vital to running a smooth corporation or business. The first function is Planning. Planning is an ongoing process that never stops. There are always incidents that will arise in which objectives may have to be revisited and changed. This function is also called delivering strategic value. Value is another word for money. A company has to meet its users needs. The better the service, the better the value or in other words, the more money you make. The second function of management is getting organized. Management must organize and put into practice the objectives and goals that were planned in the first function. This function will “assemble and coordinate the human, financial, physical, informational and other resources needed to achieve goals” (Bateman, 2009 pg.12). This organizing function is also known as building a dynamic organization. In building this dynamic organization, people will be considered the most valuable resource and only the brightest and best qualified people will be selected to work. Being organized will help the company be flexible and ready to adapt to any outside threat and the......

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Foundations for General Education and Professional Success GEN 200 University of Phoenix Dr. Janice Carter-Steward, Instructor January 25, 2010 We all different. No one person has the same personality or learning style. This is what makes the world uniquely balanced. The mystery is learning to accept and recognize these learning styles and personality types. In various occupations, sometimes we are forced to interactive and collaborate with other individuals that do and see things in very different ways. It is then our goal to identify their strengths and weaknesses that will improve the success of the team and overall work performance. Challenges will always exist among individuals that work together, but having good communication and collaboration will benefit all those involved. Learning styles, personality type and time management used to be merely educational jargons for me. Little did I know that all of those components were directly related to the learning process. While reading and performing various assessments, I have recognized several learning styles, their functions and how they contribute to great team work and support. I have explored the learning skills of The Interpersonal, The Visual-Spatial and The Logical-Mathematical Learners. These individuals bring several needed skills to small groups and team projects. The Interpersonal is one who actually likes and enjoys team......

...Money Management Korey A. White GEN/200 November 17, 2010 Abstract Managing money by putting a certain percentage of your income in categorized accounts gives you a better understanding of where your money is going. There are three account types I have chosen for this paper. Financial Independence Account, which is for retirement. The Fun Account, which is used to reward myself for working. Then there is the Life Expenses account used for everyday life activities and needs. Upon reading this paper you will have a clear understanding of how these accounts play a role in helping me manage my money. Money Management Managing my money is my day-to-day problem. When I was in the military, I did not have to worry about money management, because I lived on base and ate for free. So the only bills I had were my car payment and my cell phone bill. Because of those being the only bills I had, I was able to go out and splurge and buy whatever I wanted. Now that I am no longer in the military that way of living has stuck with me even though I have more responsibility and less money. After doing some research on how I can start managing my money, I have found three main ways to help me with money management. They are Financial Independence Account, Fun Account, and a Life Expenses Account. Although it is possible to manage money effectively, managing money is difficult when I spend it as fast as I receive it. Developing a Financial Independence Account will......

...Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence GEN/200 Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence Johnson Pope, an English poet, said, “Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.” However, I definitely do not have that quality. Self-confidence describes a person who has faith on themselves. A problem that affects me every day is my lack of self-confidence. My self-confidence affects me in my decision making, career, and social skills. It also affects me when I am passing up opportunities that can be rewarding. An example how my self-confidence affects me is when I will not stand a chance competing against another person. I do not do well in a challenge. I give in easily. I doubt about myself and my abilities to do any task. The fear of rejection and failure hunts me every day. My lack of self-confidence overly preoccupies me with what others think. What I need to do is build confidence and take charge of my life to overcome my problem. One of the methods I can use to work on my self-confidence is looking for a support group. They are a lot of internet support groups or blogs about self-confidence that I can rely for support. I feel that if I can share my feelings without face-to-face time, I can open up more to my feelings and assist me better. Another place that I can use to gather information is to see a Psychologist. Psychologists are trained individuals and with a tremendous amount of experience that can be use in......

...their thoughts easily translatable into different data or charts. An intrapersonal learner will benefit from these styles because they are more extraverted and they will draw the intrapersonal learner out of their own mind. This will be effective in having an open line of communication between the styles. The different learning styles will benefit from each other in the sense they will push each other out of their comfort zones. I assessed four different categories of personality types this week. The category I fell heavy into was the organizer. A few of the personality traits I have are detailed, practical, organized, sequential, structured and confident (Morris 1996). I work well in a situation that I have mapped out (whether on paper or in my brain). In this type of situation, I am confident about the results I come to. Two other categories of personality types are the adventurer and the giver (Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007). The adventurer tends to be more active, restless, imaginative and artistic. A giver will tend to be emotional, musical, trusting, and sociable (Morris 1996). In meeting with my team for the first time, it was interesting to watch these three different personality types work together and communicate with each other to accomplish the same goal. As the organizer, I wanted to keep everything sequential and work on the questions and answers in a chronological manner. I needed to type everything into the computer in a methodical way. I......

Gen 200 - Personal Responsibility Research Paper

...Personal Responsibility Essay: Academic Success vs. Creating an Excellent Credit Score Charnelle Riley GEN 200 July 23, 2013 Hector Fulgencio Personal Responsibility Essay: Academic Success vs. Creating an Excellent Credit Score The definition of personal responsibility is when a person is responsible for all that concerns them. Personal responsibility is a subject that not everyone will define the same. Viewpoints are often influenced by culture, peer pressure, and others opinions. Being accountable may range from daily chores, work duties, acquiring a good credit score, taking charge of your education, to being an active member of your community. An article found by Steve Brunkhorst, labeled ‘12 Reflections on Person Responsibility’ reinforces the point made in this essay, “Personal responsibility begins from the inside and moves outward. We must begin by taking responsibility for our thoughts, choices, and reactions. Then we can be responsible for the circumstances we create in our world” (Brunkhorst, 2005, pp 1). People will often show that they are responsible when they have built a high credit score. Building a high credit score means that a person has paid his or her creditors on time. Another factor that will help credit limits rise is to make sure that the limits are not maxed out for each line of credit that may be opened. An article written by Selena Maranjian and Dan Caplinger, Six Smart Moves to Boost Your Credit Score state, “It's a......
