HOLIDAY DECISION MAKING: PROCESS OF LEISURE DISCOVERY AND ADAPTABILITY.
The following essay attempts to discuss and critically evaluate the traditional problem solving, cognitive model of consumer decision making process with that of holiday decision making. The writing begins with the introduction phase which discusses the traditional model of consumer decision making process. The following subsection discusses the sequential stages involved in the traditional consumer decision making, following is a comparative analysis between holiday decision making and traditional consumer decision making based on the stages involved in traditional consumer decision making. A conclusion that summarizes this study follows thereafter.
I. INTRODUCTION
“Consumer behavior reflects the totality of consumers’ decisions with respect to the acquisition, consumption and disposition of goods, services, activities, experiences, people and ideas overtime.” (Wayne D. Hoyer, Deborah J. Maclnnis 2008). This means that as much as the consumer will purchase a certain product e.g. soap, based on his preference of brands, he may also purchase a product such as a book just because it has been written by a popular author.
Consumer decision making is about market choice behavior where consumers must make a decision between two or more competing alternatives, and thereafter decide on whether to purchase the alternative.
The consumer decision making process is the stages that a consumer goes through in order to decide on the best alternative to purchase. The traditional decision making process makes an assumption that a consumer has to go through five stages before reaching his decision hence very important for a marketer to understand this process.
II. DECISION MAKING – THE TRADITIONAL PROCESS

Holiday

...During my last school holidays, I spent a few days at my cousin’s house at Morib, a well-known sea resort. I shall never forget that visit.  On the day I arrived at Morib, my cousin told me that he would do to make my stay there a very interesting one. He said that he would make a raft to use it in the sea. Then he would buy fishing net to catch some fish in the shallow water near the coast. When I heard all this, I was very delighted because it was one of the reasons that I had decided to visit my cousin. We then walked up to the beach which is near his house.  While we were there, sometime in the evening, the sea looked extremely beautiful. I saw the islands and hills in the distance, the birds in the air, and a few boys and girls playing on the beach. I also saw some fishermen coming out of the water with their catch. All this was indeed very interesting to look at.  On the next day, my cousin and I collected some tree trunks from the forest nearby. As my cousin’s house is close to the sea, we decided to make the raft on the beach itself. It took us almost the whole morning to make the raft. We then had our lunch and went to Banting, the nearest town, to buy fishing net. After that we returned to my cousin’s house.  In the evening we put the raft on the sea. The water was still high, but the raft floated quite well. My cousin and I sat on it and began to row it by using the oars that we had made ourselves. We felt very happy indeed and continued to row it. We......

Holidays

...Holidays “All work and no play makes jack a dull boy” Just as water and food is necessary for our body similarly holidays are also important for a healthy mind and physique. They provide relief from monotony of our daily routine. They are important for our mental and emotional well being. They are not only meant for enjoying but also for pursuing our hobbies and interests. During holidays, leisure replaces work as a priority. You are filled with the enthusiasm to explore, travel and learn. There are no rules for getting up in the morning and going to school. We are our own rulers as we manage our time according to our own wish. We play, visit places, pursue our hobbies and are relaxed. Holidays bring back to us natural vigour and cheerfulness. They relieve us of mental worry. Holidays are essential for workers in every department of life. They enable us to resume our work with renewed zeal and energy. Rest is enjoyable when it follows hard and strenuous work and hard work becomes easy and enjoyable when it comes after holidays. Holidays donot mean idleness. They donot mean sleeping and gosssiping. Idleness is not a thing of enjoyment. It is the root cause of all sins and evils. It is truly said, “An idle man's brain is a devil's workshop”. Wish to explore nature is in everybody's heart and holidays are best time to fullfill this desire. God also encourage us to travel. Holy Quran says, “Travel through the earth and see how He began the creation” (29:20). During holidays......

Holiday

...Ariel O’Brien 10/23 Every once a year, someone always has that one tradition they like to do on a holiday. Well, mine so happens to be on Christmas. Every year on Christmas, my family and I like to play fun games after opening our presents and done having dinner. Some may have the same thing every year just like my family, but in my opinion, I don’t think it’s the actual same. My family and I like to be different every year. Even though we still buy each other gifts, there are some things we just buy for the fun games! Every year we try to come up with a new game, sometimes we play cards to win a gift. The fun about winning one of those gifts is that it’s not something that you expected, for example, a tissue box or maybe even a candle because it can be random. It’s the best to have a random gift because later on, we actually might just use it, which makes the fun out of the random gift. People also have their own types of recipes, mine so ever tries different things every year because my family and I like to switch up things every once in awhile and try something new. We usually look up recipes in a cook book or the internet and would bring it to each other’s houses. My family and I like to try new things every year because we wouldn’t want to get bored with the same thing every year something new is also exciting! My family and I also like to visit each other’s houses so we wouldn’t get bored going to the same one house every year. Before......

How might Mercedes preclude any further dilution of its brand in the perceptions of consumers? 3. Comment on the effects of competition from Lexus and other brands on the search for information and decision making by consumers. 4. How do youthful consumers differ from older adults in terms of information search, personal influence, and auto product preferences? Role plays makes a huge statement in the formation of attitudes. Customers of who have been loyal buyers of Mercedes Benz expect to see consistency. When drastic changes are made it somehow puts Mercedes Benz in the light of luxury in the eyes of the consumer. With something as simple as wood paneling being removed from the normalcy the consumer starts to view differently. Luxury and quality are high standards of Mercedes Benz and these are the expectations of the consumer. Once again listening to your customer will always provide a better return in the long-term. Mercedes can avoid satisfaction with its consumers by including them in what they may want to see in there luxury cars or just state consistent to what customers are familiar with. Change can be a shock to many because it’s an unfamiliar place that many chose to stay away from. Luxury cannot be taken down to average or else it loses its taste. Lexus just as Mercedes Benz all represent high quality and there......

...During the holidays, we had plenty of time to do whatever we wanted. Some may apply for part-time jobs whereas others may be busy with their own CCAs. As for me, I went to participate in different marathon volunteering work. I volunteered for different races such as, Sundown Marathon, Great Eastern Women Run and the SGX Bull Charge Run. During different runs, I gained new experiences and realized that working and organizing such runs may not be an easy task and it requires a lot of team work to get this moving smoothly. At the end of the SGX Bull Charge Run, we were told to help disperse the crowd at the floating platform of Marina Bay as the event is over. Two aunties came up to me and told me they did not manage to use a single coupon as they came back too late. They asked me to allow them to join in the last queue at the Ice-Cream booth so that they could at least use two of their coupons. Taking pity on them, I reluctantly allowed them even though I had instructions not to allow anyone to queue anymore. After that, another two ladies came up to me and requested for the same thing, only they wanted to finish using two of their coupons. While my friend heard the conversation, she came up to the two ladies and told them no. My friend rolled her eyes at the two ladies which resulted them getting into an argument. I stepped in and explained to the two ladies while my friend went to cool off. I told them that we are not supposed to let anyone queue anymore and after a long......
