...the information you find for future assignments in this course. Points will be taken off for a failure of your submission to comply with these instructions and provide complete information for your assigned country. (NOTE: links or web addresses are NOT sufficient unless you are specifically instructed. You must copy in the material requested.) However, I do expect there may be some discrepancies in what you are able to find. Do your best to find information that matches the instructions. If there are differences, find the closest match you can. For example, if you cannot find information for each of 3 consecutive years as discussed below, but there is information at some other interval – perhaps every 3 or 5 years, copy in 3 intervals worth. In addition, if for any of the items below you cannot find the requested information for your country, you may then, and only then, find the information requested for a country in the same region. For example, if your country is Vietnam and you cannot find the information requested for Vietnam for one item, you may substitute with the information for Thailand or China. One last note: references are not needed for these answers unless a reference is specifically requested. To get started, create a word document that will contain your findings from this scavenger hunt as the instructions ask you to record them. Put your name at the top of the document. Indicate the name of the country you have been assigned to study. Put all......

Hp Case Study

...Identification In a 3-year period, Hewlett-Packard (HP) brought in $500 million through the use of operations research (Turban, Sharda, Delen. (2011)). HP also generated billions of dollars from customers from around the world. The conglomerate produces thousands of laser printers, enterprise servers and storage products. As a result of the increased number of products that HP supplies, the company also undertakes additional cost associated with these new innovations. For this reason, HP experienced a decrease in revenue due to unplanned operational costs. HP has worked diligently towards meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Unfortunately, managing millions of new products lead to increased cost and inefficiency. HP recognized that its company was providing millions of choices for customer satisfaction without a high return on investment. HP’s marketing and sales departments requested more SKU’s, more features and more configurations to meet consumer interests. However the supply chain managers wanted less complexity and were interested in more predictable order cycle times. HP needed to implement a fact-based, data-driven tool to improve decision making. HP developed a team of individuals internally and externally from consultancies and universities to help with the challenges the company faced. This team developed a process for evaluating new products for introduction, created a tool for prioritizing existing products in a portfolio, and developed an......

...Instructions Your discussion questions are due by the end of the announced time period. Answer the questions below, and type your answers in the “answer box.” Copy and paste the answer box into the discussion board forum titled “My Mother Never Worked.” If you are working with a partner or in a small group, type the full name of each group member into the subject line of your post. Answer Box 1. Answer question one under Purpose and Audience. Write the thesis IN YOUR OWN WORDS. I believe that the point that the writer is trying to prove is that her mother was a hard worker throughout her whole life who never once stopped working regardless of the circumstances or obstacles that she came across. I think that her thesis was never explicitly stated because the telephone conversation stated her thesis well. She stated her essay with the telephone conversation and in the pause between the response of the lady from the Social Security Office she goes back in time and gives a little background of all the jobs her mom had. The writer had a specific question and the lady had a solid answer. At the end of the passage the lady answered her question and gave her the news that she wasn’t eligible for death benefits because her mother never worked according to their records. In my opinion the thesis was in some way written throughout the whole essay when she was explaining all the jobs and task her mom actually had because at the end of the essay you don’t question the...

Mortgage Calculator

...Mortgage calculator One of my favorite tools and that I have used on many occasions is the mortgage amortization calculator from the internet. Using some basic information and a calculator it will help you have an elementary idea of monthly payments. Also, it can give you average information about the period of time needed for the full payment of the loan. Furthermore, an amortization schedule will show the payment, the interests, the distribution of capital, and the unpaid balance of the loan for each month until the full balance is paid off. The online mortgage calculator can be use easily without the need to understand complicated formulas. Simply enter the amount of the mortgage, interest rates and desire period of years, in order to be given immediately the amount of monthly payment plus a division of interest and the principal amount to be paid. With some calculator’s mortgage amortization, you can choose to check the consequences of the monthly over or lack of payments in efforts for the buyer to be mindful of the penalties if there are any in regards to their mortgage. ...installed base of more than 1.3 million UNIX Systems known was HP-UX, worldwide. On the other hand, Independent software vendors were struggling to cover the development costs for new versions of HP-UX operating systems because HP’s commitment to IA-64 was another challenge for the company. By 1997, HP’s sales were recorded as $10 billion and the total market share was approximately worth more than $60 billion. HP was the leading the category of UNIX server vendor in comparison with revenue from 1993 to 1997. By summer 1998, Sun was leading the UNIX server vendor category. Sun converted the small independent competitors into Solaris UNIX operating systems. The installed base business of these vendors was about 40% of the total market in 1997. Sun had gained the market share with the help of independent vendors by creating a dominant position in Internet market space and taking and advantage of their focus on UNIX. ESG was formed by HP when the company refocused its efforts and resources on enterprise computing. HP innovated ESG, in a unique way of combining both RISC and UNIX which resulted in better performance for the computer systems in comparison with the standard product supplied by third-party suppliers. ESG systems were capable of running complex, mission critical applications used by their customers. After HP turned the focus from UNIX to ESG, there was a decrease in sales and revenue by mid-1998. Q.2: Why did HP get involved in developing the IA-64......

Calculators

...Calculators, lemmings or frame-makers? The intermediary role of securities analysts Daniel Beunza and Raghu Garud Introduction As Wall Street specialists in valuation, sell-side securities analysts constitute a particularly important class of market actor.1 Analysts produce the reports, recommendations and price targets that professional investors utilize to inform their buy and sell decisions, which means that understanding analysts’ work can provide crucial insights on the determinants of value in the capital markets. Yet our knowledge of analysts is limited by insufficient attention to Knightian uncertainty. Analysts estimate the value of stocks by calculating their net present value or by folding the future back into the present. In so doing, they are faced with the fundamental challenge identified by Frank Knight, that is, with the difficulty of making decisions that entail a future that is unknown. These decisions, as Knight wrote, are characterized by ‘neither entire ignorance nor complete . . . information, but partial knowledge’ of the world (Knight, [1921] 1971: 199). The finance literature has not examined the Knightian challenge faced by analysts. Indeed, existing treatments circumvent the problem by adopting one of two extreme positions. In the first, put forward by orthodox economists, it is assumed that Knightian uncertainty is non-existent and that calculative decision-making is straightforward. Analysts are presented as mere calculators in a probabilistic......
