The Project Paper focuses on a suggested topic related to art, architecture, history, music, or literature. The project will reflect your views and interpretation of the topic. This project is designed to help you stretch your mind and your abilities to be the creative, innovative, and critical thinker you already are!
Choose one (1) of the topics from the list of topic choices below. Read the topic carefully. Write a three to four (3-4) page paper (750-1,000 words) that responds to each of the items described in the topic.
For the topic you choose: 1. Support your ideas with specific, illustrative examples. If there are questions or points associated with your chosen topic, be sure to answer all of the listed questions and address all of the items in that topic. If your topic asks you to do several things related to the topic, be sure to do each of the things listed. 2. While some of the topics tend to lend themselves toward particular writing genres, you are not restricted to the specific format suggested for the individual topic. For example, you may do an “interview,” a “proposal,” a “letter,” a “short story,” a “blog,” an “essay,” an “article,” or any other written genre for almost any of the topics. The project is intended to be fun as well as informative, so feel free to be creative with the delivery of your information. 3. Use at least two (2) sources besides the textbook, which counts as one (1) source.

...Rafael Giron 4/25/13 Humanities Final Paper Art Institute I took a trip to the building on 111 South Michigan Avenue, it is the home of the Art Institute of Chicago, which to give a little history that I learned while my visit there I learned quite of bit of history and even though there is a lot art work inside the building itself is piece of artwork as well and that is what I want to focus on and some paintings as well, it was opened in 1893 for the World’s Columbian Exposition. The building was passed on to the Art Institute after the end of the exposition. The building has become an icon for the people that live there an tourists alike. The Modern Wing, the Art Institute’s latest and largest addition to date, opened on May 16, 2009. While there I took notes of the historical building and saw many exhibits which I will get into later. The 264,000 square foot addition now houses the museum’s collections of modern European painting and contemporary art, sculpture, architecture design, and photography. The new Modern Wing looks and feels very different from the original Art Institute building because of its materials.     While in there I took the breath taking sites and looking and walking around for most of my day I noticed something and it makes sense to me that a gallery for classical art would be housed in a building with a classical style, and a gallery for modern art would be housed in a more modern building, which is how the Art Institute has reorganized it’s......

Humanities 112 Assignment 1: Essay

...Voltaire’s Candide Affirmation? Humanities 112 Assignment 1: Essay In Voltaire’s Candide, or as I would like to call it, the Expect the Unexpected book, there are numerous surprise twist. Throughout this dramatic satire Candide goes through several tragedies. During each event his understanding and belief in his faith is tested and put into question, as shown in chapter six. Voltaire particularly picks on the Resurrection Story. He toys with the readers mind by challenging the validity of and devaluing the Resurrection story. Candide suffers the loss of many loved ones, and then they are reintroduced again in later chapters of the story. In the end, Voltaire does the exactly opposite of what he sets out to do, but reaffirms his belief in god. In chapter six, Candide was relieved to find out that he was not going to be burned in the slow fire, but was beaten instead. This would have given him and the condemned a sense of false hope. Instead they burned two of the condemned men and hung Dr. Pangloss. Like Candide, I felt amazed, shocked, confused, and a little terrified for his fate. On other hand, in keeping with Dr. Pangloss theory, “that all things happen for the best possible end” (Voltaire, Chapter 6: How the Portuguse Made a Superb Auto-Da-Fe` to Prevent Future earthquakes and how Candide Underwent Public Flagellation, 1758), gives you hope for Candide’s future, even if he is in doubt. By the time we get to chapter twenty-eight Candide is a......

Implementing this proposal would combat population issues and unemployment, by sparing poor families the expense of being responsible for their young all while earning extra income. Swift was very particular about the details of his proposal by providing data that notates the number of children to sell, their age, their weight and a price. He even goes as far as to offer recipes for cooking the poor Irish young. This perfect solution to the problem, 100,000 children from the poverty-stricken Irish population can be sold to the rich as a source of food. Humanities 112 Assignment 1 Descartes Discourse on the Method (Part Iv)

...Descartes’ Discourse on the Method (Part IV) Vernon McDaniel Strayer University Humanities 112 Dr. Jane El-Yacoubi April 7, 2015 After reading Discourse on the Method (Part IV) it becomes clear that Descartes begins with a proof of one basic conclusion and ends with a proof of something much grander. In other words, Descartes claims that in practical life it is pretty much common for people to make erroneous judgments, conclusions or infer from erroneous perceptions. Therefore, Descartes now wants to devote himself “solely to the search for truth” (Discourse on the Method, Part IV, p.14). In order to achieve this end, Descartes claims: “I thought I needed to do the exact opposite—to reject as if it were absolutely false everything regarding which I could imagine the least doubt, so as to see whether this left me with anything entirely indubitable to believe.” So, the one basic conclusion for Descartes is “one sometimes has to act on opinions that one knows to be quite uncertain just as if they were unquestionably true” (Discourse on Method, Part IV). He offers several proofs for this basic conclusion based on his method of doubting everything so as to reach a conclusion on that which is indubitable or cannot be absolutely doubted. So, he rejects he evidentiary value of senses He also rejects deductive arguments because logical fallacies are common and people tend to reason erroneously. He rejects the evidence of......

Every effort should be made to ensure that this is a hands-on experience (not a virtual one), that this activity fits the HUM 112 class well, and that the activity is of sufficient quality for this university course. The two key types of activities are a museum visit or a performance. Note: This must not be a report on the same activity (and certainly not the same report) as done for another class, like HUM 111. For instance, one might go to the same museum as done for HUM 111, but this HUM 112 report will focus on entirely different works and displays. 1. Visit a museum or gallery exhibition or attend a theater, dance, or musical performance before the end of Week 10. The activity (museum or performance) should have content that fits our course well. Have fun doing this. 2. Write a two to three (2-3) page report......
