The Department of Education has implemented a rigorous set of core standards to improve the public school system. Since then teachers and administrators have been planning strategically to improve the efforts of their organization. In order to meet the needs of each individual learner, stakeholders have had to improve on their practices and rely heavily on data. Teachers are being asked to get creative with their teaching practices in order to appeal to each student. There are many instructional practices that are intended for students to engage in high level learning while incorporating a standard-based curriculum. Effective instructional strategies are the solution to obtaining high achievement in students (MacGregor, R., 2007). Effective administrators know that in order for their school to succeed they must convince their teachers’ to incorporate rigorous instructional approaches. One proven effective method is teacher reflection. Research has shown that the reflecting on lessons taught improves teaching (MacGregor, R., 2007). If teachers stop after every lesson and reflect on the effects of their lesson, whether it was engaging, interesting, purposeful they can get to know they students needs. Teachers should assess their own practices when students do not perform as expected. Part of growing as a teacher is reflecting on what is working or not working for your students. The effectiveness of a teacher is measured by student outcome. The National Board for professional Teaching (NBPTS) established five key beliefs that are the base of teacher effectiveness (NBPTS, 2002). They are as follows: 1. We are advocates of the patient and his family, and we are to promote patient safety by practicing within the national practice act and the board of nursing rules and regulations. The scope of practice for the register nurse utilizes the nursing process to establish the plan of care for the patient. ...If I was asked to investigate a new procedure that physicians would like nurses to adopt into the hospital, the first step I would take is to meet with the physicians to ensure that I fully understood the procedure in question. I would find out what the procedure was for, how the procedure was performed, and what the outcome of the procedure would be. HAP consists of approximately fifteen percent of all hospital-acquired infections and occurs in five to fifteen percent of every 1,000 admissions. Critical care nurses are presented with unique challenges when caring for patients who are at risk for developing VAP. Strategies must be developed using evidence-based practice and incorporated into daily care in order to prevent VAP in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. ICU Doctors, Nurse Educators and the DON on the ICU unit are currently responsible for our current oral care practice. Our hospital is currently using (OAG), which stands for Eiders’ Oral Assessment Guide, it measures a patient’s oral health status and the frequency of oral hygiene. This tool measures oral health by using 8 different categories: swallow, lips, tongue, saliva, mucous membranes, gingiva, teeth, and voice. They are graded 1 (best), 2, or 3 (worst). Normal findings would be a score of 8, whereas 24 would be the total worst score in all 8 categories.
