Jayne’s growing business stop will face a lot of challenges. Even though, she wants to grow her business, it might not be the right thing to do. As a business grows, different problems and issues will occur. All too often, what works for one location might not work for a different location. Especially since she is looking to locate next to a mall that will cause her to have more competition from other shops. I know word of mouth is working for her business, but she will have to bring something that will make her stand out from the rest of the competition. Growth Strategy It's important not to assume that your current success means that you will automatically be able to take advantage of these opportunities. Every major move needs planning in the same way as a new business launch. Watch out for being too opportunistic - ask yourself whether new ideas suit your strengths and your overall vision of where the business is going. Bear in mind that every new development brings with it changing risks. It's worth regularly reviewing the risks you face and developing contingency plans. Business Form Jayne will need to change its business form from a sole proprietor to a LLC. The main reasons for LLC Formation or Limited Liability Company organization are lawsuit protection, credibility, tax savings, deductible employee benefits, asset protection, anonymity, the ease of raising capital, creating a separate legal entity for personal protection, forming an LLC has a broad range of powers beyond that of a sole proprietorship, small claims court benefits, separate liability for corporate debts, and perpetual duration. After LLC Formation or LLC incorporation you create a separate legal person. You are a shareholder. You can control the corporation. However, when your business is sued you can…...

Sandwich Blitz

...First of all it sounds like Sandwich Blitz is a unique business. With their offering of foods no other sandwich business has. This would be their main strength to keep the business above other shops that make sandwiches. Moving to a new city could be a strength with good opportunity for growth. This new market could open all kinds of possibilities. People like verity, with the right advertising opening in a new city could get them the exposer they need to become known nationwide. That alone could take there business to the next level. I also see one potential Weakness. In this new city sometimes people are hesitant to try new things. That could hurt them to start off in this new city. There is that possibility it may not take off in that city, just because there products they offer are not the usual in that city. The threats I see for them are the two new franchise operations that offer food and beverages similar to that of Sandwich Blitz. These threats are potentially big and would depend on a lot of things. One biggy is if one or both of these new franchises were to open in the some cities as their current franchise. That would take some business from Sandwich blitz. But if either one would open in the same neighborhood that could potentially put a big impact on their sales. Getting back to opportunity, the new competition could put a fire in their motivation. Dalman and Lei could come up with specials and use their experience in advertising to......

The Swot for Sandwich Blitz, Inc

...and advancement. The main strength of Dalman and Lei committing to a large scale expansion of Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is that they already have a strong business plan in place that is showing success. By expanding their business outside of the city they are currently in, they are able to garner a larger customer base. With having eight current shops, they could possibly be better off with getting involved with an expansion that will take them out of their current area. Expanding in the same area as they have been currently with a small scale expansion may cut down the amount of customers that visit other established shops. A weakness of Dalman and Lei committing to a large scale expansion of Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is that their current set up is working as it is because they have made their first link of the chain the base for training new employees. With moving to a different area during a larger expansion, it may not be possible for this model to continue working for them as it currently is. One of the main things that keeps this chain successful is the training that each employee receives that allows them to be empowered to make a bad situation right for the customer. Having the training onsite rather than at a main facility may have a negative impact on the way that employees handle customers. The opportunity of Dalman and Lei committing to a large scale expansion of Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is that they know that they have a very successful idea to bank on. More and......

The Sandwich Factory

...The Sandwich Factory analysis The novel is written in 2007 by Jason Kennedy and tells the story of a nameless production line worker, in an industrialized world. The narrator is 1st person, and the story unfolds through the narrator’s point of view. The novel use high style language, the narrator uses a lot of irony, which makes it quite humorous to read at times. For an example “Dot lived in the Midlands, as she would’ve been an excellent pirate, giving blow jobs on the high seas” (L.36-37, p.2). His literal knowledge far exceeds the normal human being with no higher education. “In keeping with my station in society, and having been rejected by the bowling alley, I took a low-paid job at a sandwich factory.”(L.1-2. p.1.) The narrator has taken a job at a sandwich factory, where he is putting together the sandwiches. The narrator has possibly lost his old job, and therefore he seeks a new job. The “Bowling alley” rejected him, when he applied for a job there. Therefore he got a low paid job at the sandwich factory. He thinks highly about himself, and indicates that he holds a high status in society. His thoughts philosophize on many subjects regarding the factory and the people working there. His thoughts intertwining with his literary knowledge, creating strange metaphysical scenarios in this mind. “A whole factory full of workers who would bite your arm off to push a rock up a hill for eternity (so long as you gave us €4.50 an hour and the weekends off). I......

Sandwich Blitz Swot

...Overview Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is a successful business, owned by Dalman Smith and Lei Lee who operate eight independent sandwich shops in a metropolitan area. They specialize in serving gourmet organic breakfast and lunch sandwiches and specialties to a diverse group of clients. Recently, Lei discovered a discrepancy on one of the sales associates time-sheet. Further investigation revealed that the team supervisor allowed the employee to report unearned hours in that pay period. Lei also discovered that the employee handbook did not completely cover all of their duties and responsibilities. This left Lei no other choice, but to review and update the existing control system. Four Steps of Control System Although Bateman and Snell identify four steps that managers must take to introduce or improve the existing control system, Rao and Shankar also introduce a preliminary step - key areas to be monitored (p.170). In this particular case, Lei has already identified the type of discrepancy and the possible cause of it. Their employee handbook has not been updated and, thus, was lacking description of their duties and responsibilities as well as various operational procedures. Therefore the main area that Lei must focus on is to bring the handbook up to date. Lei could perform this task herself or delegate it to one of her regional managers. Step 1. Setting performance standards. The employee handbook will serve as a guidance for the employees and as a reference book for the...

The Sandwich Factory

...The Sandwich Factory The assignment will begin with an analysis and interpretation of the short story "The Sandwich Factory" by Jason Kennedy. In order to put history in perspective to the assignment, there is included a discussion with an excerpt from the novel "Hard Times" - with a description of Coke Town by Charles Dickens. "The Sandwich Factory" by Jason Kennedy, written in 2007. The short story is about a man who in 1994 takes a job at a sandwich factory for a low income bracket. At the factory, he sees his insignificance, indifference and dissatisfaction. This gives us a picture of how his life is and how unhappy he is with his work. The Sandwich factory seems to be a typical food factory where mechanization is exploited to increase efficiency, including the proceeds of sandwiches. Employees at the sandwich factory works monotonously around their belts, and is constantly monitored by their managers who let their employees do all the dirty work that they do not even bother. The managers give awards to employees from bad to excellent. If the factory is behind in today's work schedule, they are not “released” until the job is done! It creates a bad atmosphere among employees. The employees feel trapped, trapped like a prison, it puts people under pressure, stress them and forcing them to work long hours, and faster. As a reader, you get a really bad insight of how things are done at the factory according to the narrator. The narrator is a first-person narrator...

Sandwich Blitz

...KimberlyDavidson6_Homework_Unit3 November 4, 2014 MT140 Sandwich Blitz SWOT The fast food industry is highly competitive and dominated by large companies. Smaller businesses like Sandwich Blitz must be savvy in developing marketing strategies that drive consumer traffic. This entails staying in constant touch with customers. One of the best ways for smaller fast food companies to stay in touch with their companies is through marketing research. A small fast food company as Sandwich Blitz must know what key customers want and will buy before developing marketing and advertising strategies. Strengths for “SB” would be the fact that they stand out as sort of an upscale or gourmet fast food restaurant, and they offer a higher quality of food than most traditional fast food restaurants. Sandwich Blitz also specializes in training for all of their employees especially management. Weaknesses of Sandwich Blitz will be the lack of reputation in the area that they are trying to move to; or will they have a great marketing plan to help expose consumers to what they are potentially or could potentially bring to this area. Sandwich Blitz Swot

...SWOT Analysis: Sandwich Blitz By Shannon Linnehan Sandwich Blitz, a specialty sandwich shop already has 8 successful locations and is considering opening 2 more stores. Below is the SWOT analysis, as defined in our text as a comparison of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that helps executives formulate strategy, for Sandwich Blitz. Strengths One of their greatest strengths is the success of the 8 other stores, Dalman and Lei already have a proven business model and have a profitable business. Part of this success can be attributed to their unique product (healthy, organic sandwiches) with an established brand. Weaknesses Although they have done well in the other locations, they are failing to recognize the weakness in the new proposed locations. It has been stated that many of the office spaces are vacant which would cause a decrease in customer base. Dalman and Lei are also too involved in the mundane day to day activities, they need to hire better managers so they have more time to devote the company. Opportunities Sandwich Blitz has several opportunities to expand by opening more locations, offering more products and services. Perhaps they could start serving dinner and stay open later instead of just breakfast and lunch they currently offer. Threats All businesses have risks and rewards, recognizing the threats can be the first step in succeeding. Sandwich Blitz is no different and faces threats such as competition from......

...Smith) and the location managers would help Sandwich Blitz, Inc. grow by freeing up the CEO’s time to focus on the expansion. Currently, Dalman is visiting locations and addressing issues that each shop’s manager has accumulated. If there was an area or regional manager assigned to these existing shops, this manager would be able to address these issues and visit each and of the locations. The regional manager could take over the training for new locations. The CEO and CFO will be able to look for additional expansion opportunities and look into other strategic decisions such as whether patents or franchising make sense to them. 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position? If not, what is an alternative source to fill the position? Though promoting an existing manager would be beneficial due to manager’s familiarly with the company, there are several risks that need to be considered. The habits and preferences, whether good or bad, that the particular shop had may be projected onto all the other shops. You might have the area manager imposing as a rule what should be merely a preference for a particular sandwich shop. Also, the other managers could become jealous and be less inclined to request help or listen to instructions from someone that was recently considered a peer. An alternative is hiring an individual management experience from the outside and having that individual work with each of the shops for at least a week to become......

...SWOT Analysis Sandwich Blitz Sandwich Blitz is a small sandwich chain that specializes in organic and healthy foods. The company operates eight sandwich shops in a large metropolitan area. The business is owned and operated by both Dalman who is the President and Chief Executive Officer and Lei is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. All the shops are well places around four high traffic office complexes, three universities and one hospital. Recently the company has started to receive some competition from similar businesses although nothing has been fully set up. The company is on an outstanding track but still face several challenges in the future to take them to the next level. The purpose of this SWOT is to identify key elements Dalman and Lei need to consider in order to overcome any obstacle they will face in the future. Strengths: Sandwich Blitz has an outstanding reputation in the area as an upscale/healthy lunch choice. They offer menu choices (organic and healthy) that no other restaurant in the area is offering. Because of this they have been able to turn a great profit and a 30% Return of Investment. Weaknesses: Sandwich Blitz has a lack of adequate middle management. The top-level managers spend too much time dealing with issues they do not need to deal with which is making them become tired. Because they are a small brand they do not have a name outside of their local area. Because of the economic turn down their occupancy rate has slowed......
