...aviliai, Lietus į žemę sunkėsi giliai.   O žmonės gimė, sėjo, pjovė, mirė, Juos kirto laikas, o jie kirto girią.   Bet jie žaliavo, kaip ir ta giria, Ir jie dainas dainavo vakare,   Pareidami iš lauko į namus, Ir švietė jiems saulėlydis ramus, Ir suko girnas jiems galingas vėjas, Vyresnis brolis, jiems padėt atėję Henrikas Radauskas. Strėlė danguje: eilėraščiai. – Chicago: Saulius, 1950.   HOMERO JAUNYSTĖ   Aš gėriau putojantį pieną, Aš valgiau nežemišką duoną, Žiūrėjau į žėrinčią dieną: Į žydinčią gėlę raudoną.   Man piemenys grojo vamzdeliais Pavėsyje aukšto platano, Ir bitės auksiniais indeliais Man kvepiantį medų gabeno.   O, kaip man beprotiškai sekės! Man vynuogės nokti skubėjo, Ir sunkios, įsirpusios kekės Laimingos prie lūpų virpėjo. Corporate Strategy

...is this same lack of specificity that makes the CAPM approach easier to understand and calculate. Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) Miller and Modigliani (1958, 1963) showed that a firm’s value would not be affected by capital structure or dividend policy if taxes were nonexistent. However, capital structure can influence the value of a company the moment corporate taxes are introduced. Given that interest payments can be deducted, external financing cost becomes cheaper. The suppositions here are akin to that of CAPM, in the sense that we are in a world where perfect information and perfect capital markets exists. The relevant formula of the model is; KtotKtot=KeKe+1-tDEKeKe-KdKd This implies; WACCeWACCe=WACCtotWACCtot(1+DE) Where: KtotKtot =Total cost of capital for the company; KeKe= Cost of equity (derived using CAPM discussed above); KdKd =Cost of debt; D=value of debt; and E= value of equity. WACCtotWACCtot = Total weighted cost of capital for the entire company; and WACCeWACCe = Weighted cost of capital if the company did not incur debt. The implication of this is that equity holders’ value will grow more if the firm incurs more debt to finance new projects when compared to using funds generated internally or through issuance of new equity. Also, existing debt holders’ value will drop with the issuance of new debt by a firm. Dividend Growth Model This model uses the current and future (forecast, based on an assumed growth rate) dividend......

...Hello class my name is Kanegra Jones but I prefer to be called KeKe. I am the mother of 5 children I have 4 daughters and 1 son. I was inspired to go back to school by my 11 year old daughter because she is very smart and she asked me why don't I give school another try so that was what I did. My children ages are 14, 12, 10, 8, and 5. My son is the baby of the bunch. I live currently in Powder Springs GA. I have only been here for about 5 months and I am still learning this city. I moved here from Memphis TN which I lived there from age 14 up until about 5 months ago. I was born in Mississippi I am currently working part time as a school bus driver which I have been doing for about the last 12 years. I have been doing this so long because i am very convenient for me being that I am a single mother and I have no family here. It was the same in TN I had no family so driving buses was very convenient and helpful because when school was out I was off and when the summer came I didn't have to work so it was very helpful to me I am a very quiet person I like to keep to myself and I do not bother anyone. I don't smoke I do not drink and do not go out. So I basically live a simple life and I try to keep it that way. I am here at the UPOX taking up Psychology because I would like to help and understand why people have some of the problem and learn ways to help them help themselves function better without always giving them medicine to control their symptoms.  ...

Personal Philosophy

...nature (what is – cultural) cannot be discounted – moral norms of society are mandatory if we choose to engage and benefit from a social contract. Basically, it is what it is. Ultimate Meaning of Life and Conclusion In The Meaning of Life, the author provides three approaches to answering “what is the meaning of life?” The three approaches are: * Religious – the belief that there is a cosmic order (revelation, religious experience, miracles, sacred books, the deliverances of prophets, sages, mystics, and various gnostics) that is the ultimate source of meaning * Moral – leading a life that is morally good * Pluralistic – meaningful lives may take a wide plurality of forms (Kekes, 2000) Life mostly consists of routine actions – sleeping, washing, dressing, eating, working, etc. (Kekes, 2000, p. 17). Milestones of birth, maturing, aging, and dying are expected. I cannot forget about the little things – being happy, watching my children reach milestones, success, etc. Routine actions combined with the milestones and the “little things” all contribute to the meaning of life. What is the ultimate meaning to my life? Who I am is who I want to be. Having faith in God, providing my boys with good parental guidance, being virtuous, and accepting cultural differences are some of the characteristics that enrich my life. Therefore, I lean more towards the pluralistic approach (meaningful lives may take a wide plurality of forms). What is the ultimate meaning of life? My......

...pleaded guilty in 03f-BGtW-AmEd 85-106.indd 100 19/01/10 4:08 PM Sample Essay | 101 Davis 16 2001 to charges of animal cruelty and public mischief after making what they called an art video recording their torturing and killing a cat; the case again aroused controversy in 2004 following the release of a documentary film about the incident, Casuistry: The Art of Killing a Cat, directed by Noah Cowan and Piers Handling. See also the articles by Christie Blatchford and by Gayle MacDonald, and Note 11 below on the 2008 “Don’t Trust Me” exhibition in San Francisco. 4. There are many defenses of the principle that an open society must make a place even for controversial or disgusting material. The case for the other side is put by John Kekes in A Case for Conservatism; he argues for what he terms “the moral importance of disgust” (100–109). 5. To be fair, although some individuals make assertions as extreme as this one, responsible civil liberties organizations such as the ACLU stop short of any such all-embracing claim. 6. The First Amendment to the American Constitution specifies that Congress “shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to assemble....” In American legal practice it has long been established that “freedom of speech” should also cover other forms of expression—such as artistic works. Other, more recent constitutions tend to make such protections explicit; the Charter of Rights and Freedoms that......

Just and Unjust Wars

...is waiting for them and hoping and praying that nothing happens to them. The death of a loved one, which many fortunate people, don’t have to experience, is extremely hard on a family and delivers a crushing blow which can cause anyone to break down. When a family member passes away from being sent overseas, it can take a toll on how someone feels about a war and if they can say they honestly believe that it was worth it. Some families have had past relatives or themselves were in the military, and now their children are and understand the sacrifices made since they were in that position at one time. To John Kekes (2010), the violent actions of war are the actions of “individual human beings directed against other human beings.” These agents, however, are not acting “on their behalf, but as ordered by their commanders” who are executing a policy that the war implements (Kekes 2010). Many families understand that their sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, etc. are following orders and doing what needs to be done for their country so that others along with themselves can stay safe. Ultimately, death or survival are the two outcomes from going to war, but there are times when surviving and coming back home to everyday life isn’t the case for our veterans. Regardless the branch of military in this country, there are cases of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) that one sadly becomes a victim from going through the unimaginable while deployed. According to the National Institute......

Bioenergy Technology Development in Nigeria – Pathway to Sustainable Development

...(RUWES) Project:- The Rural Women Energy Security Project under the Renewable Energy Programme is targeted towards the underserved rural women who are usually off-grid, energy poor and has the highest incedence of health related issues from harmful energy practices. RUWES hopes to promote the adoption of clean cook stoves, solar dryers etc and also impact rural women with skills. 9. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicles:- The TATA Group, a major supplier of CNG Buses for transportation in India has offered to set up a CNG powered transport system in Nigeria. The offer includes buses for mass transit and cars for taxis. The city of New Delhi which was battling pollution from emissions made the radical change to CNG powered cars, tuk-tuks (keke) and buses. The immediate results included sharp reductions in GHG emissions as well as increased employment. The Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with TATA Group is working towards replicating this model in Nigeria.[14] Other Projects on Bioenergy in Nigeria not directly sponsored by the government are; • A human waste biogas plant at the Zaria prison, cow dung based biogas plants at the Fodder farm of the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Zaria and Mayflower Secondary School Ikenne, Ogun State. • A 18m3 capacity pig waste biogas plant at the pigry farm of the Ojokoro/Ifelodun Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society in Lagos State. • A number of indigenous outfits are......

The Big Apple

...The Big Apple Keke Karlyle Strayer University BUS 508~Contemporary Business Dr. Vonda Mallory July 20, 2015 Examine Apple’s current position on the company’s ethical and social responsibilities, and determine whether or not the company has met these responsibilities. It is safe to say that the world as we know it has been significantly shaped as a result of the innovation brought forth by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. The masterminds behind one of the world’s most influential and profitable companies are an example of the entrepreneurial spirit that the United States was founded on. Jobs brought his revolutionary computer company from humble start-up to unheard-of success. Today Apple is estimated to be worth nearly $400 billion and has become one of the most valuable brand names of all time. (Apple) Apple is a true example of the entrepreneurial spirit, from humble beginnings to a $400 billion industry leader, we should ask ourselves how does this happen? Jobs and Wozniak had a vision, their purpose for creating the Apple that has permanently changed the way we live was simple; to change the world through revolutionary technology. As a result of the genius of both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, whose commitment and drive to make technology accessible, transparently simple, and highly coveted, Apple has introduced the world to products we never knew we needed have become indispensable to our lives. Everything about the way we document, photograph, record,......

In other to achieve its objective, NAPEP designed a number of programmes which include Multi-Partner Matching Funds (MP-MF) Farmers, Empowerment Programme (FEP), Capacity Acquisition Programme (CAP), General Micro Credit and Grants, Promise Keeper Programme (PKP), KEKE-NAPEP, Village Economic Development Solution (VEDs) among others. How far these programmes have reduced the rate of poverty in Nigeria is a matter subject to empirical study. NAPEP projects are primarily funded or supported by; i. A Dream House

...Keke Weathers Dr.Sarthou Composition II November 6, 2015 Emotions, Emotions, Emotions When you w3ake up in the morning, what are some of the things you do before heading out of the door? Most people look at the weather before they leave home .The weather sets the mood for the day. It determines what a person is going to wear and even a person’s attitude for the day. For example, if it is fall time and rainy out, a person might wear rain boots and a sweater. Now think of the colors of fall; orange, brown, yellow and red, and the colors of the leaves. The color brown can make one feel cozy, snug, and safe. Orange is associated with stimulation, warmth, and happiness. Thanksgiving is during the fall season and it is a time to stuff your face, to be surrounded by family, and to be thankful. And these colors help to set the vibe. Everyone is cheerful , full of laughter, and hungry. These feelings are asscosiated with the color yellow. Red symbolizes love and life and is mainly what people are thankful for on thanksgiving. Now back to the wet and slippery situation. When it is dark and stormy outside people tend to feel drowsy, sleepy, or even sad. Spring time gets the most rain typically in the western hemisphere. Spring time is one of the most crucial seasons for suicide. In the U.S. at least 30,000 people commit suicide each year. The suicide rates worldwide outweigh deaths involving accidents and homocides combined. IT is a popular belief that suicided rates peak during......

George Crowder

...he was working as an official in the Clinton administration, finds it “remarkable how often we could reach deliberative closure in the face of this heterogeneity” (LP 7). In this connection, he notes that value pluralism is not to be confused with relativism: “The distinction between good and bad, and between good and evil, is objective and rationally defensible” (LP 5). For pluralists, goods are not simply whatever individuals or groups believe to be good. There are objective goods, but these may conflict, and such conflicts cannot be resolved by simple monist formulas. According to Galston, the form of politics that fits best with a valuepluralist outlook is Reformation liberalism. Against antiliberal pluralists like John Gray and John Kekes, Galston argues that liberalism is maximally capable of accommodating the “expressive liberty” of the many ways of life that are worthy of respect according to a pluralist view. He presents several arguments for this claim, but the strongest is based on a link between pluralism and diversity. “If moral pluralism is the most nearly adequate depiction of the moral universe we inhabit, then the range of choiceworthy human lives is very wide. While some ways of life can be ruled out as violating minimum standards of humanity, most cannot. If so, then the zone of human agency protected by the norm of expressive liberty is capacious indeed” (LP 37). If values are plural and incommensurable, then many different general rankings will be valid......

The Word

...000 jobs will be generated in 3 years for the teeming unemployed Nigerian youths of at least 25 million. One of the major flaws of YouWin is that the so-called 1,200 young entrepreneurs will receive “an equity grant” that is tantamount to a government largesse or gift without any pre-identified objective criteria for selecting the winners and sustaining the program without new capital contribution by the government. Thus, far from transforming the previous PDP government-led largesse known as National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP); the Jonathan administration has simply replaced one dubious scheme with another; with some arguing that the YOUWin programme is worse than the NAPEP because some of the projects under NAPEP such as the Keke NAPEP are visible for all to see whereas beneficiaries of the YOUWin programme will have limited identity, with little or nothing to show for their jackpot. In closing, the four areas of Recurrent Expenditure, Power Supply, Security and Job Creation elements of the 2012 Appropriation Bill analyzed above provide answer to the question as to whether the 2012 Budget is that of Transformation or Retrogression. You be the Judge! FIXiNG THE 2011 BUDGET: Can this retrogressive budget be fixed? Of course. It is a proposal which only becomes law when enacted by the National Assembly. As suggested on Twitter by my brother Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, we must all rise up and call our representatives and senators to transform the proposal into a......
