My Life-Changing Story

Today was the worst day of my life. My mom gave me good and bad news. The bad news was so horrible. The good news was very surprising. The bad news was so bad, that I started crying. My mom told me that I was moving.

It all started when today, was the day I would be the student of the month. I was so happy that I was finally my turn to be student of the month. I went to school and I got to wear the class crown. The class crown is a crown that the student of the month wears on the first on the first day. The student of the month get to choose what fun activities we get to do for the entire month after we finish our assignments. It was an honor for me to wear the class crown.

That day I was so happy that I got to finally be the student of the month. When I came home from school and my mom told me good news. She told me that she was expecting a baby. But, after that my mom told me that we were going to move to Miami, Florida. Since my mom was pregnant we had to move because there was not enough room in our apartment. My whole family lives in Richmond, Virginia. So, my parents thought that it would be a good idea to buy a house in Miami. I was so sad that I was going to move next week. I was so mad that I started to cry. I did not want to leave all my friends, my teachers, my city and leave. My mom told me that I was going to find more friends and even better ones too. I mom told me that I was going to have a room of my own and we were going to live in a better house. My mom also mentioned that my dad was also going to have a good paying job. She told me that my family in Miami owns a pizza store. So, that kind of cheered me up. Today was moving day. I was so nervous. I just getting to board my airplane and I remembered that I am leaving Richmond forever. I started to cry at…...

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and the Story of an Hour Compare/Contrast

...Thurber’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” is a short story that was written in 1937. The story features an elderly man who drives his wife into town for beauty parlor visits and regular weekly shopping. Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour” was published in 1894. In this short story Kate Chopin presents her perspective of the repressive role of marriage in the lives of women. This is shown by the fact that the main character, Louise Mallard, thinks that she will find freedom in the death of her husband. Both short stories share common theme of gender roles and marriage. Gender roles are defined as the behavior and attitudes that are strengthened by the stereotypical identity of an individual. The relationships among the form, style, and content of the two stories help us to understanding the essence of gender roles and marriage in the society today and back then. In “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” Walter Mitty is an elder American man who has retired and has nothing else to do except follow his wife around. Walter daydreams about the life he wishes he could have. The main focus of the story is to present a fantasy world rather than a realistic one. “The Story of the Hour” takes on a more dramatic effect. The story reflects an important hour for the main character, Louise Mallard. Louise experiences freedom in this hour. Just like in The Secret Life of Witty where the main focus is on the desire to escape from an ordinary life, so is the case with The Story of the......

He made me feel special and a way that I had never felt before. Well, one day the relationship was discovered. It was mayhem. This relationship destroyed my relationship with him and his family and made the relationship with my family very rocky. I was a betrayer, a liar, a sneak, and deceiver. For many years, I felt like that. There was no forgiveness for all that I did and caused. This man lost his wife because when she found out she divorced him. Looking back now, I can completely understand her reaction. I really felt that there was forgiveness for everyone else in the world, just not me. I wanted to live a life that would be pleasing to God, but that ever present feeling of sin was with me wherever I went. It stayed with me. Then one day at church, there was......

...July 25, 2014 Cinema Paradiso Cinema Paradiso is a movie to be felt. The film portrays the story of a boy named Salvatore “ToTo” di Vita, and the way he grows up with the story of the cinema from a town called Giancaldo in the province of Sicily. The boy bonds with a man named Alfredo who worked at the local theater, Alfredo teaches everything he knows to Salvatore until one day Alfredo has an accident and goes blind. Salvatore later fall’s in love with Elena and soon has to leave his town in order to follow his career. He returns to Giancaldo 30 years later in order to learn the lesson of letting go. The score is very beautiful and very touching throughout the film and it depicts the emotions going on very accurately. It was played during the shooting of the film, which I think makes all the difference for the actors in really feeling every scene. There was a lot of inspiration and artistry during the making of this film. From the beginning of the movie, we get to know and fall for little Salvatore and that reminds us of how we were when we were little kids. From then on we start to feel related to him and how he grows up. There are lots of emotions all throughout the film because he goes through every stage of life with the cinema at his side and how the cinema also changes. It shows you how at first even kisses were banned from the screen and the local priest did the banning. All...

The first two, Miss Keller's story and the extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. My Life Story

...I remember when life was simple, and all that mattered to me was watching the Rugrats or Spongebob. As a baby, many people would say I looked Like Tommy Pickles. As I grew a bit older, I began to change, not only physically, but mentally and ethically. I began to learn my how things progressed and learned about the many new rules of life. An important one at the time was washing your hands every time you use the bathroom and brush your teeth each night before you go to bed. I also had many priorities at my age in that point of my life. A very important one was watching the newest episode of Pokemon each Saturday morning or beating that next level in any game on my Game Boy. But now as I see myself growing older, my priorities have shifted in a different direction. I now have to constantly update my status on the social networking site known as Facebook or check my Iphone for that text message from my closest friends. Time progressed and as I grew, I began to think about my past, present, and future. I remember my childhood, and live my life in the present, always moving forward. But thinking about my future is something that was a bit challenging to me. I began to ask my self many questions like “What’s going to happen in a few years? Where will I be? What will I be doing?”. As time went on, would look in the mirror, and I’d ask my self who I see. I see the person I am now. I see the 17 year old young man, who is preparing to take the next big step in his life. A young man......

Story of My Life

...When my life was quickly falling out of my hands and reality wasn't within reach, I felt helpless. I needed to find a way out somehow, someone or something to influence me in a better way by helping me out of the major hole I had dug myself into. It all began when I moved away from my life in Pennsylvania, and couldn't accept the fact that it was something my parents had to do. I was an emotional mess. I had much anger and no one to vent it on, except my parents, which, most of the time, was pointless. This would just end up being an even bigger mess. So as I began to make friends, I figured why not drown my sorrows in whatever I could possibly find - drugs, alcohol, "fun." I was out on school nights until one or two, planning on not going to school because I thought I had better things to do. As time passed, I began to miss many days of school, causing my grades to fall tremendously. I decided to drop out of the tenth grade. It seemed easier in my eyes, no more waking up at five o'clock - and I could stay out and not feel guilty. I knew somewhat what I was doing; I knew my life was on a downhill slant, and at that time I couldn't do a thing about it. As my friends from the other side saw what I was doing, they decided to do it too, losing everything they had: respect from everyone, parents, relatives, friends, and teachers. So we went on a fantasy trip, not caring about losing our education or love from people who tried to care. We thought it was great to be on our......

...to spend time with my other family.” (Smith) She just wanted everything to be whole again as I wish my family would have been. The topic discussed is everything she has to, and as every other kid has to deal with while their parents are divorced. It is important because in my paper I talk about how it is to have two separate families… It is not fun at all. She could not deal with having two families so slowly she began to avoid one side and soon after that she said “So one day I told my dad that I didn’t want to visit any more.” (Smith) Could you imagine how hard that is to tell one of your parents? I could have never said that to either side of my family. As a ten year old and making that much of a life decision is crazy. The writer of this story kind of just told the story instead of showing it. Like when she says” The power struggle that had lain dormant between my parents erupted again, and this time it was directed at me. This time, I was responsible for the discord. In one house, I was blamed; in the other, I was a victim.” (Smith) she should show us how it erupted and how she was the one being blamed in one house and the victim in the other. Also never shows what her family looks like, or her family before the divorce. Besides that she puts it in time order which kept me interested instead of going from different scenarios at different times. I can compare my book with this because mine is about having two separate familes and having more than one birthday......

My Life Story

...late at night to the new home for my brother and me, we were greeted by the grandparents and the rich golden brown Labrador retriever. But within two months everything changed so drastically that I did not know what was going to happen to my brother and me. The kids would treat us like outsiders, damaging the family vehicles, and hitting us with bats, or anything that they could find. This would lead to the kids telling the parents about what we had done and that we hit them. As any concerned parent will do, they called the social worker and asked what they could do to make the situation better. In response, the social worker said, put the two boys in separate room and make sure that the doors are looked from the outside. After that day, my life changed for the worst, I was not able to go outside without one of the parents being there with me and I could not go to the restroom since I was locked in my room. This type of treatment was said to be best for me, but in reality it was not the best. The best would have been to watch their children around me and make good judgment from that point of view. With the new living arrangement that I was in I needed to make myself comfortable in my room. Because, it was going to be a very long before I could walk out of the room. All that I had in my room was a mattress, some children books, and a blanket to keep me warm. The room was filled with the pleasant sound of Johann S. Bach; it was very calming and peaceful. This helped me to......
