...Economic Issues Simulation Paper is about Castor Health Plans. This health plan was founded in 1999 as a Regional HMO in the state of Pantome. The main purpose of Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) is to provide health care services and health insurance to enrollees through a statewide network of hospitals and physicians. The HMOs complete this by using a capitation model in which it pays its large network of health providers. Caster Health plan has thousands of enrollees throughout the state and is looking towards increasing the amount. As a representative for the Castor my responsibilities is to maximize profit and minimize risk for the company. Other responsibilities that I would need to help with are including plenty of interaction with any new clients and formulating health plans in that would suit the client’s needs, on top of all that this would also include pricing plans and setting insurance premiums. It’s never an easy job making any sort of financial Making any types of financial and economic decisions; making decisions for a business is a lot harder because one has to realize what is and will do best in order for the business to make profits and to grow. Castor will need to choose between two types of companies it will want to help cover with their health plan. The two companies that have been put in front of their health plan company are that of Constructit or E-editor. The simulation has a couple of plans to chose from and on top of that it also has a......

What Are the Main Benefits of Recycling?

...Most accounts of issues claim that there are a variety of benefits of recycling. “Recycling is the process of converting products back into their constituent raw materials and then reprocessing this raw into new article” (Healey, 1999). People’s desire is limitless, but the resources in the world are not infinite. In daily life, there are so many products that can be seen everywhere, for instance, glass, paper, steel, plastic products and rubber products. Hence, ignoring recycling is a large waste, that means just throwing garbage or disposing of it in landfills which is not a permanent solution. As the impassioned discussion over the issue of recycling comes into the spot light of the world, it has long been asserted that the issue of recycling in modern times is very important. Recycling makes participants feel fine, and is considered by some to be a moral responsibility, which has become a ‘social norm’ (BIEC, 1997). This essay will try to demonstrate three main benefits of recycling including its important role in economies, environment and energy-saving. Recycling generates substantial economic benefits and it has made a vital contribution to job creation and economic development. A great illustration of it is that recycling helps people save money and creates jobs in waste management and manufacturing industries. Recycling programs cost less to operate than waste collection, land filling and incineration. According to Beck (2001), there are direct impacts and indirect......

Exile on Main St

...Exile on Main Street Here in New York, we often see people who are down on their luck. Should we or shouldn’t we “brake for them”? Living in New York is a challenge. The people are unpredictable and so is the city. A lot of days while I am commuting on the MTA I see people who are down on their luck, and so I try to make their day easier. There are people that accidently spill something on themselves, broke something of theirs, got robbed, got fired, lost something and other emotional, mental, or physical actions happen to them. People may ask for something like a cell phone to use, money, food and most people ignore them. What people should realize is they shouldn’t make their day worse if they see there already having a bad day and they should give the commuters some space. In New York and especially while commuting it is very hard to keep to yourself. I have been taught by my parents to not ignore a person who is down on their luck, but to help them so that’s what I do, and that’s what everyone should do. I learned this so I can be an example for people to follow and so I can pass this act of kindness to future generations. “Exile on Main Street” which is a story located in Utah is an example of someone that’s down on his luck. Garrison Keillor is the author that wrote a book. His book became popular and the more his book became popular, the more he gained a higher social status. Since he was rich and high class, he got treated better than someone who was poor. He......

Main Topologies

...multiple CPU’s, Printer’s, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and other devices. The main difference between stars and busses there is only one connection between all of the machines that are able to be connected to the line. If the connection was disrupted the communication between devices will be lost, and the only way to get it back is to find another connection wire. The bus will need a termination box at each end of the line or there will be an open circuit and will not allow the network do its job. This one is strong since there is always an easy fix to whenever the problem appears it can only ever be one thing. The last topology is the ring topology. The ring behaves much like a Bus except instead of needing a terminal at the end of the line. All it does is go full circle and end at another CPU. A lot like the star it can use a switch but does not always do not require a switch nor is it absolutely necessary. The ring is just like the bus in a sense that it also only uses one cable to connect all hosts together. The only difference is that it is used to hold more host’s than other machines such as printers, DHCP, etc…. The only problem is the same as the bus if the one connection fails then the whole network stops working but it is also an easy fix since all it takes is one new cable. Even though there are ways of putting together a successful network these are the main ones used in homes, schools and computer labs. These can be easily set up with the help......

Main Features of a Dc Motor

...Describe the main features of a DC electric motor and the role of each feature - Electrical motors can be classified as either: o DC (direct current) motors: or o AC (alternating current) motors - The commutator DC motor consists of: o An Armature (the rotor) o A magnetic field produced by permanent magnets or by electromagnets. It is equivalent to the stator o A commutator to reverse the direction of the current o Connecting brushes to take the current to and from the armature - The armature is made up of a large number of coils (or turns) wrapped around an iron core that is free to rotate about a horizontal axis (hence the rotor). These coils are arranged at angles to each other. (To minimize the air gap between the armatures conductors and the stator, the conductors are often imbedded in slots cut longitudinally into the metal core. - In its simplest form the field structure (stator) is made with permanent magnets (called field magnets), but also can be made from electromagnets (called field coils). The stator is approximately circular as this improves the smoothness of the torque. - In its simplest form the split ring commutator consists of a copper cylinder divided in two electrically separated halves. Each half is connected to one side of the armature. - Brushes are graphite pieces in their simplest form, which make contact with the commutator as t rotates. Springs ensure that the brushes are held firmly against the commutator. - The coil can be......

Some of the Main Causes for Cancer

...Some of the Main Causes for Cancer Cancer has been facing the world's population since the begin of the human history. Although scientists have found the cause and the cure for some kinds of cancer, some of the causes are still unknown. This disease is common in every region in the world. Who has never heard about someone near that died because a cancer? Every year millions of people die because of some kind of cancer, but researchers say that many of these deaths occur because these people had bad habits. Some common causes for cancer are excessive sun exposure, air pollution and unhealthy food. Firs of all, air pollution has been the main cause of lung cancer in the last years. Although scientists and doctors consider air pollution worst than smoking to cause lung cancer, industries around the world dispense tonnes of pollution in the atmosphere every year. As a result of the industrialization, earlier industrialized countries like China and India are one of the most polluted countries of the world. Also, fossil fuel burning from cars and household heating dispense high levels of toxic gases in the atmosphere. Air pollution is an arduous problem to be solved because it is a world problem, but there are others causes for cancer that can be avoided. One cause that can be avoided is excessive sun exposure that increase the person's chance of skin cancer because of the high concentration of UV rays. The UV rays cause sunburn that damages the skin cells, and repetitive......

Main Causes of the Revolutionary War

...The revolutionary war had many causes and effects. Some notable cause are as follows: Also known as the Seven Years War, The French and Indian War was fought over conflicting territorial claims between the French and British in the Ohio River Valley. The British victory resulted in virtual expulsion of the French in North America, and the rationalization of taxing the Americans to recoup monetary losses. The 1765 Stamp Act required colonists to pay a tax (in the form of a stamp) on printed documents, various licenses, and other goods. Colonists rebelled and terrorized British tax collectors.  The Townshend Act of 1767 authorized Parliament to issue taxes on in-demand imports such as glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. British soldiers had to be brought into Boston to prevent an uprising. Outraged by these new laws, and the Quartering Act which required colonial citizens to house and feed British troops, the American colonies began to systematically boycott British goods. Tension over the presence of British troops in Boston led to the Boston Massacre, the first episode which resulted in the loss of life. Four Bostonians were killed when Redcoats fired into an angry mob.  Angry Bostonians known as the Sons of Liberty boarded a British tea vessel dressed as Indians and dumped all of its tea into Boston Harbor in protest of the Tea tax. This event resulted in the Intolerable Acts. As tensions regarding colonial lands and taxation increased during the 1760s and 1770s, many...

Main Factors of Lesson Plan Papers

...Main Factors of Lesson Plan Papers Jennifer Mello EDU 311 October 18, 2014 Dawn Childers Main Factors of Lesson Plan Papers When addressing a classroom without goals, objectives, and a clear path is an obvious mistake that any teacher could make. The greatest idea will fall flat without understanding what to consider when lesson planning, and as we know all lessons require knowing how to reach specific students and how to respond to their needs as a student. Outlined in this paper is the Framework for Teaching, Core propositions, comparison of framework and propositions, main factors to consider when lesson planning, and how to identify the difference between goals and objectives, as well as observable and measurable objectives. Charlotte Danielson's Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching (2007), Danielson used the Praxis III assessment and created organized responsibilities for teachers. Within this, there are four domains that were covered in The Framework for Teaching; planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction and, professional responsibilities. She outlines what each of the four domains is and clearly states the key concept and thesis. In 1987, The National Board of Certified Teachers (NBCTs) created a policy of the vision of accomplished teaching that they had. NBCTs also created The Five Core Propositions to “form the foundation and frame the rich amalgam of knowledge, skills, dispositions, and beliefs.” The Five......

Main Functions of a Bill of Lading

...Main functions of a bill of lading Bill of lading fulfills three main roles and several sub-roles, as stated below: 1. Receipt for cargo a) Receipt for the quantity of goods; b) Condition of the goods when they were taken on board; 2. Evidence of a contract of carriage 3. Document of title (the right to ownership of property with or without possession) a) Right of ownership (the right to claim cargo; it is a negotiable document); b) Security for payment; I would like to describe how the above-mentioned functions operate. Bill of lading as a receipt for cargo means that the document is issued to evidence that the consignee received the goods. Quantity of goods should be stated on the face of a bill of lading in the section “Particulars declared by the shipper but not acknowledged by the carrier”. The number and description of goods including their gross weight (in kilograms) and measurement (in cubic meters) shall be stated as the evidence of cargo’s quantity. The words “shipped on board in apparent good order and condition…” give the evidence of the good condition of shipper's cargo when received, loaded or shipped by carrier. In this case the bill of lading is “clean”. If cargo is damaged when presented for loading the damage has to be referred to in writing on the face of the bill of lading. If any adverse endorsements are included the bill of lading the document is known as “claused”. Bill of lading is an evidence of the terms of the contract of carriage,......

...A comprehensive ABC system is recommended for the company, as it also helps to manage resources by reducing non-value added activities and reporting the cost of spare capacity. Key factors for successful implementation of ABC are behavioral, financial, technological, and organizational and those relating to the system design features. INTRODUCTION John Deere & Company is a manufacturer and supplier of farm equipment products since 1837. John Deere Component Works (JDCW) was a subdivision of John Deere & Company, which dealt exclusively with the manufacturing of tractor component parts; garden product line and other diversified industrial equipment supplies. Despite manufacturing high quality parts & reliable delivery timeline, their main challenge was to keep up with growth in market demand for their products. However in 1980 demand for farm products fell & due to increase in low-cost suppliers in the market, John Deere had to rethink their cost performance strategies for accurate costing and hence pricing. John Deere restructured its manufacturing process & adjusted overhead costs by splitting them into two components – direct labor hours and machine run time. The major cause is an outdated costing system, which distorts product costs and leads to incorrect strategic decisions. This report identifies the causes of changes in cost structures at John Deere. It explains how using Activity based costing method could lead to more accurate product costs and better......

What Is the Main Cause for Violence?

...What is the Main Cause for Violence? January 12, 2014 Victimology What is the Main Cause for Violence? Violence has been around a very long time. The first record of violence is probably the story of Cain and Abel where Cain had become jealous of his brother Abel and murdered him, thus the first act of violence. No one really knows why people choose a violent road to go down and to commit crimes but there are many theories. Some say it is how they grew up in society and the people they hang around or on the other hand people say they are simply wired from birth to be that way. My paper is a reflection of my opinion on what I think the main cause of violence is and whether or not it is biological or social and what can be done to correct it. In my opinion, I think violence stems from both biological and social stand points. Let’s just focus on the social aspect of violence first and the influences around us. Many people and I speak from experience stereotype certain individuals because of the neighborhood they live in, the color of their skin, or the company they keep. Sometimes these stereotypes can be true. For someone to be socially accepted into a group such as a gang, they have to be tuff and basically a criminal. As some kind of initiation they need to commit violence whether it’s shooting someone or robbing a store for example. I believe society puts pressures on young adults especially they have to have a certain way of life and the only way they can fit in......

Treatment as Seen by Main Characters

...Treatment as Viewed by Main Characters Cancer is the tuberculosis of our generation. Movies, books, poems, and music industries are consumed by this epidemic. The illness can affect anyone at any time due to its roots in DNA mutations. The mutations in DNA code for mutated proteins and therefore alter the use and lifespan of each cell and tissue type. Cancer at its simplest form is shown as an excess of cells dividing out of control. Cancer comes in all forms and ways. The most common cancer types include: breast, ovarian, skin, lung, and colon. The main character in The Fault in Our Stars has thyroid cancer which has metastasized in the lungs (Green 11). Levine’s Adam in the movie 50/50 has a lesser known cancer, spinal cancer. Even though each cancer is different, they are treated in relatively the same ways. Cancer requires extensive treatment. Different types of cancer require different types of treatment. Chemo-therapy is almost required to treat the physical problems. However, various supportive therapies and groups treat the emotional problems associated with cancer. Some of these include: depression, apathy, anxiety, confusion, and anger. Both The Fault in Our Stars and 50/50 concern not only the physical treatments cancer patients undergo, but also the emotional treatments associated with a cancer diagnosis. John Green’s Hazel is a teenager living with terminal cancer. She calls her life a “miracle” due to the fact she was revived on the cusp of death......

...two terms accuracy and precision. 3. The accuracy of a measurement is a measure of how close the measured value is to the true value of the quantity. Precision tells us to what resolution or limit the quantity is measured. 4. In general, the errors in measurement can be broadly classified as (a) systematic errors and (b) random errors. 5. Systematic errors : The systematic errors are those errors that tend to be in one direction, either positive or negative. Some of the sources of systematic errors are : a) Instrumental errors that arise from the errors due to imperfect design or calibration of the measuring instrument, etc. For example, in a Vernier calipers the zero mark of vernier scale may not coincide to the zero mark of the main scale, or simply an ordinary metre scale may be worn off at one end. b) Imperfection for experimental technique or procedure. For example, to determine the temperature of a human body, a thermometer placed under the armpit will always give a temperature lower than the actual value of the body temperature. c) Personal errors that arise due to an individual’s bias, lack of proper setting of the apparatus of individuals, carelessness in taking observations without observing proper precautions, etc. For example, if you, by habit, always hold your head a bit too far to the right while reading the position of a needle on the scale, you will introduce an error due to parallax. 6. Random errors : The random errors are those errors,......
