...Competitive Rivalry: What is important here is the number and capability of your competitors. If you have many competitors, and they offer equally attractive products and services, then you'll most likely have little power in the situation, because suppliers and buyers will go elsewhere if they don't get a good deal from you. On the other hand, if no-one else can do what you do, then you can often have tremendous strength. Threat of Substitution: This is affected by the ability of your customers to find a different way of doing what you do – for example, if you supply a unique software product that automates an important process, people may substitute by doing the process manually or by outsourcing it. If substitution is easy and substitution is viable, then this weakens your power. Threat of New Entry: Power is also affected by the ability of people to enter your market. If it costs little in time or money to enter your market and compete effectively, if there are few economies of scale in place, or if you have little protection for your key technologies, then new competitors can quickly enter your market and weaken your position. If you have strong and durable barriers to entry, then you can preserve a favorable position and take fair advantage of it. These forces can be neatly brought together in a diagram like the one in figure 1 below: Figure 1 - Porter's Five Forces...

...COORDINATOR and RESOURCE INVESTIGATOR second and third preference (refer Appendix 2). I relate well to the majority of the style indicators of the DRIVER style including providing leadership by directing and controlling team members, holding strong influence on team operations and objectives and enjoying goal setting. However, once again the primary DRIVER style includes characteristics which I do not relate to, or consider present in my leadership style. For example; I consider myself to be a people orientated person, who is conscious of how others are feeling. This does not reflect the DRIVER characteristics of being provocative and having the potential to hurt others feelings. The Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS) questionnaire produced interesting and somewhat pleasing results (refer Appendix 3 and 4). The results from those assessments completed by trusted colleagues suggest that I am likely a self aware individual, who is successful in delegation, influencing and managing up and one that handles conflict well. The areas in which I may need to be attentive include, providing supportive communication and motivating others. Comparison of the three instruments used: These results did reveal numerous similarities across the three instruments. The comparison also revealed several differences. One message with which I relate strongly is the CREATOR trait of the ID profile; “Intuition and Innovation” (refer Appendix 1). I feel this links well with that of the......

...to follow. It eventually went on to become the leading enterprise in cloud ecosystems. With this system, industries and organizations are able to connect with their customer base with help of innovations in the field of networking using mobile services. With numerous rewards and recognition under its label, it is now one of the most chosen CRM option in cloud computing. All the initiatives undertaken by it are sustainable, so the impact is hugely reduced on the planet as a whole. For conducting my analysis, I have chosen Mark Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce.com. I have chosen the company as my subject and the leader, as they have carved a niche for themselves in the field of CRM activities in cloud computing, and it is extremely inspirational to learn from the leadership style portrayed by Mr. Smith in the organization (Baek, S., Kim, K., & Altmann, J. 2014). Organization Description Salesforce.com was formed fifteen years ago with the vision of revolutionizing the entire concept of CRM in the cloud computing system. The work brings up that success comes from developing personal leadership, from which leadership of others can follow. I had the opportunity to participate in a one day seminar with Mr. Covey, sponsored by my employer in 2010. At the time I took the seminar, I was an experienced software developer but I wanted to transition to the role of project manager. Covey’s work helped me to identify and work on some of my behaviors, which in turn helped me to take on the project manager role successfully to date. I executed a particular approach, I applied Covey’s teachings to my transition to project management, and then to a personal level. One of the good consequences at a personal level was obtaining my bachelor’s degree at Western Governors University, in 2014. Covey’s work proposes that just changing outward behaviors or attitudes is not the way to succeed. First, our principles, the way we perceive......

...this center has not only created a place for the children to go after school and be productive, but also a place that models the qualities an upstanding citizen. During my time of employment at SMITH YOUTH CENTER, I served as a Technical Coordinator and math Tutor. Leadership Practices In this Section of my paper, I will be evaluating the organization as a whole and the primary leader and site director Mr. Smith. According to Boone and Makhani, 2012; Mr. Smith can be classified as a servant leader. (Boone & Makhani, 2012) listed in their research several characteristics that sets a servant leader apart from other leaders. Some of these characteristics includes: the ability to listen, having empathy and having passion about helping people progress and reach their potential. I believe that these are all characteristic that Mr. Smith possess. During my tenure at SMITH YOUTH CENTER, Mr. Smith would go beyond the scope of work, to inquire about my wellbeing outside of the Center. He would ask questions such as: how is school was going? Or how was your weekend? These gestures on his behalf made me wants to work more for him and be a better employee because he made me feel as though he cared about me as a person. Daft, 2014, posits that “a servant leader is one who serves others by working to fulfill followers' needs and goals, as well as to achieve the organization's larger mission”. Some of Mr. Smith’s leadership practices that give him the title of a servant......

...| Managing Organizations and Leading People Task 1 | A.1 Describe an Organization and its Objectives I would like to describe the organization once widely known as Kinko’s now recognized as Fedex-Kinko’s. More specifically, I would like to describe how the organization Kinko’s got its start and identify its objectives. Kinko’s was originally founded in 1970 by Paul Orfalea, a college student living in California. Named after Paul’s kinky hair, Kinko’s got its start as an effort to offer reasonably priced prints to other struggling college students. It quickly became the source for school materials and late night prints for last minute research papers. The company quickly grew and developed through the years to reach far beyond the average college students. With all of the business services and printing options offered it was no wonder that Kinko’s would eventually make its way into the offices of high executives in organizations across the county. Kinko’s locations began to pop up in every state offering services including small and exceptionally large prints offered in either black and white or full color. With the ability to offer computer rental and shipping, they became the office away from the office. Kinko’s takes pride in the ability to serve their customers in a timely and proficient manner. Their number one objective is to take care of their customer and they worked hard to develop relationships with each of their clients and they accomplish their......

These will be followed by evaluations of my strengths weaknesses and recommendations. Utilizing these analyses, I will also include two SMART goals intended to improve my leadership practice. ...new product is being introduced, there are important steps that need to be taken in order to see of the products will be accepted. For instance, it is important to know if there is a need for products that are being introduced. Secondly, is there as place for the product in the global market. The three methods that I used to identify my target market are focus groups, feedback or surveys and lastly invite people to a prototype. First, identifying my target means that I would choose a specific demographic area for potential customers that I would like to buy the products. When choosing the area I consider the age, family status, and incomes. By doing this it will provide me information needed to introduce the two products to a demographic area who would be interested in purchasing them. After locating the specific demographic area and introducing my products the next step would be surveys and feedback from my demographic consumers, especially those consumers who still have existing lawn mowers. This would allow the company to hear concerns and suggestions from people who would most likely buy my products. Lastly, I would have a prototype available for viewing. It is important that consumers are able to see what they are buying. Having a prototype to view allows the customers to see and interact with the new products. Whether the new product is durable, light, and easy to maintain are a few concerns that the customer may have. Using a prototype to introduce my......
