Case Study One- Trader Joe’s: Keeping a Cool Edge 1. Trader Joe’s started out as a chain of convenience stores which grew to bigger stores striving to be a unique grocery store. They are different with the way their staff dresses and treats the customers, the wide variety of organic and healthy foods and at the same time, they are trying to maximize everyone’s experience as well as expanding their name. Bu that is all done with the help of six “must have” managerial skills which includes: teamwork, self- management, leadership, critical thinking, professionalism and communication. Out of all six “must have” managerial skills, having strong communication is the most important quality to possess in order to have a successful management especially at Trader Joe’s. Communication is the ability to express self well in verbal and nonverbal ways, and able to communicate through writing, oral presentations, giving and receiving helpful feedback to progress and to have technology utilization. In order to do all of that the management must have a strong communication skill. In all types of management tasks the first and most common thing the management does is communicating their needs, expectations and opinions to their team. Leading Innovation Global Org

...Unit 2 Assignment 1 – The Role of Leaders in Innovation MBA6006 – Leading Innovation Global Org Shyla Hasal Capella University INTRODUCTION With the changes in technology and globalization, most organizations today are faced with a dynamic environment. It is important that organizations operating in today’s economy need to be more artistic and innovative to stay alive, to contend, to develop, and to lead. Innovative companies are almost always led by innovative leaders (Dyer, 2011). Leaders are people who are able to think and act creatively in non-routine situations – and who set out to influence the actions, beliefs and feelings of others (Doyle, 2001). Classical Leadership First, to lead involves influencing others. Second, where there are leaders there are followers. Third, leaders seem to come to the fore when there is a crisis or special problem. In other words, they often become visible when an innovative response is needed. Fourth, leaders are people who have a clear idea of what they want to achieve and why (Doyle, 2001). Literature over the last 80 year list four main “generations” theories of leadership which are: Trait theories, Behavioral theories, Contingency theories, and Transformational theories. Strategic Leadership Strategic leaders must develop and maintain a culture that fosters and encourages innovation, and invest in the development and exploitation of innovation (Pellet, 2008). According to Krupp (2013), most executives do not......

Farmersville Station, NY 14060 tierzahjane@yahoo.com Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry MGMT-591-20618 Leadership & Org Behavior Professor Joseph Neptune February 22, 2015 Abstract The organization discussed in this work of literature is Cuba Memorial Hospital, located in Cuba, NY. Cuba Memorial Hospital is named as a Critical Access Hospital through a federally supported program. This allows the hospital to choose which services best meet the needs of the community with 50+ employees. Cuba Memorial provides mostly long-term care treatment as the main bulk of their income. Like many other hospitals, Cuba Memorial Hospital (Cuba Memorial Hospital) went thru a significant downturn around 2008 due to fraud and theft of education funding and much more. Not only do they lose funding, but also they also almost get shutdown every six months due to not meeting regulations in controlling heat and air-conditioning, as well as having asbestos in the pipes, and a lack of food as they have maxed out their credits with many companies. It has been a roller coaster for many years. The main contributor for many issues among the organization is lack of morale and ethics within the company and this contribute to a very high turnover rate overall. Employees are not very good as well due to the lack of appreciation of everyone’s hard......

...Violence in the Workplace: Getting in Front of the Causes In Order to Create a Safer Workplace By Ryan D. Howell MNGT 5000 – Management Webster University Dr. James W. Chester October 10, 2014 Executive Summary Violence in the workplace is a growing trend affecting safety, which managers at all levels are dealing with. Several factors are associated with the causes of violence in the workplace to include: individual, organizational, and social factors. Violence in the workplace affects not just the employees but also the customers and the productivity of the business. Legislation against violence in the workplace assists the victims and provides resources to managers which allow action. However, in order to get in front of the causes a business strategy must be formed through a SWOT analysis. Once a business strategy is formed then managers will be able to take action and prevent violence in the workplace. Introduction The general concept of safety in the workplace can be assumed to be important to most people. When Goodman (1968) analyzed the use of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, he concluded that while the hierarchy was not as important, the factors of workplace safety were of vital importance (p. 55). There exist several types of workplace violence, and solutions for counteracting each type. The first area to concentrate on is the culture of violence which has led to an increase in workplace violence; not just for employees but also customers......
