Abstract: Piper betle leaves (Family: Piperaceae) have been used in Chinese and Indian folk medicine for centuries and recently been proposed to be used as a chemopreventive agent because of its anti-oxidant activity. In the present paper, Piper betle leaves were standardized for stomatal index, vein islet and vein termination numbers, palisade ratio, UV fluorescence and different ash values. The Piper betle leaves are earlier reported to possess anticancer potential. Hence, the aqueous extract of the leaves was subjected to cytotoxicity studies on Hep-2 cell line using MTT and SRB assays. The mean CTC50 was found to be 96.25 µg/mL, which proved the potent cytotoxicity and hence, the probable anticancer property of the selected extract. Key words: Betel Leaf Anticancer Phytochemical characterization and its leaves, with a strong pungent and aromatic flavour, are widely consumed as a mouth freshener [4]. The leaves are credited with wound healing, digestive and pancreatic lipase stimulant activities in the traditional medicine [5]. During our exploration of non-toxic and affordable herbal medicinal formulations, the PBL extract and its constituent phenolics were found to show impressive anticancer activities [6-8]. ...Several human and veterinary uses in traditional medicine are described for different parts and preparations based on this plant. However, critical reviews discussing emphatically its medicinal value are missing. This review aims to provide an up-to-date overview of the traditional uses, as well as the phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicity data of J. gossypiifolia species, in view of discussing its medicinal value and potential application in complementary and alternative medicine. Pharmacological studies have demonstrated significant action of different extracts and/or isolated compounds as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal, antihypertensive, and anticancer agents, among others, supporting some of its popular uses. No clinical trial has been detected to date. Further studies are necessary to assay important folk uses, as well as to find new bioactive molecules with pharmacological relevance based on the popular claims. Toxicological studies associated with phytochemical analysis are important to understand the eventual toxic effects that could reduce its medicinal value. OMOGBAI Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria Abstract: The plant of Phyllanthus amarus is used as diuretic and to lower blood pressure in traditional medicine practice. The effect of the aqueous extract of the leaves of Phyllanthus amarus on blood pressure was evaluated in normotensive male rabbits. Intravenously administered aqueous doses (5 mg to 80 mg/kg) of the extract to anaesthesized normotensive male rabbits produced a significant fall in mean diastolic, systolic and mean arterial pressures in a graded dose response manner. The dose of 5 mg/kg produced the least hypotensive effect, causing a fall in mean diastolic, systolic, and mean arterial pressure of 13.3 ± 3.1, 19.7 ± 5.4, and14.3 ± 3.4 mmHg, respectively, while the dose of 80 mg/kg produced the greatest fall in mean diastolic, systolic, and mean arterial pressure of 49.7 ± 7.9, 45.5 ± 9.5, and 48.00 ± 6.5 mmHg, respectively. The extract had a greater blood pressure depressant effect on the diastolic blood pressure than on the systolic blood pressure. The highest dose of 80 mg/kg caused 62.5% fall in diastolic blood pressure, compared to the 33.2% fall in systolic blood pressure caused by the same dose. Atropine at the dose of 1 mg/kg blocked the hypotensive effect of the aqueous extract in a competitive manner.......

It’s a major infertility treatment when other methods of assisted reproductive technology have failed. The process of IVF involves monitoring and stimulating a women’s ovulation process, removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from the women’s ovaries, added the sperm to fertilize the egg or eggs. Once the egg has been fertilized it becomes a zygote and will be cultured for 2-6 days, when will be transferred into a women’s uterus with intention of establishing a successful pregnancy. IVF can be used to overcome female and male infertility. According to NICE guidelines IVF is indicated in unexplained infertility for women who have not conceived after 2 years of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. For IVF to be successful it requires a healthy egg, sperm that can fertilize and a uterus that can maintain a pregnancy. With the large cost of IVF it is generally attempted after less expensive treatments have failed. Some couples use donor eggs or sperm to achieve a pregnancy, but some use IVF with a surrogate where another women carried the pregnancy. Fresh meatballs are made from meats that have not been previously cured,they are made from ground meat,either pork,beef or veal. Meatballs are however susceptible to microbial spoilage and auto-oxidation.
