Questions to Think About
Part I: Module 7 1. Not to justify terrorism in any way, shape or form, but what are some of the reasons for it that could be seen as valid complaints?

Some of the reasons used to justify terrorism are deeply roots to extremist belief that is driven by a religious passion with goals of conformity. In order to have a persuasive message one has to understand and connect with a group’s frustrations and deeply rooted belief foundations. The movement of terrorism does this by shaping the purpose for the violent and terrorist acts in a way to make it a legitimate reasoning to perform such acts. For example, the global jihad was contributed by the government appearing to fail and not meet the needs of its people; therefore, coalitions and alliances were formed to oppose leadership and institutionalized Islam activism. Furthermore, when the government does not fully address the needs of its people, poverty and unemployment increases; therefore, making opposition against the government and crime increase (Esposito, p.26-70, 86-94).

2. How do you think the many definitions of jihad have complicated the issue of terrorism?

The interpretations of jihad differentiate from non-violent to violent, which are basically extremists and terrorists. How jihad is defined does complicate the issue of terrorism, I think mainly because terrorism is viewed to be directly stemmed from an extremist movement, but just has furthered its tactics. The term jihad has been used and abused and ironically, jihad is interchangeably with terrorism, although, this is inaccurate it is counterproductive. Jihad has been conflated with a Muslim holy war against unbelievers (Esposito, 26-70; Esposito and Mogahed, p. 74-75).

Think About Thin

... ...Be sexy, but not sexually active. ...Be happy, but please others, first and foremost. ...Be thin, but stay healthy. ...Be thin. ...Be thin. It sunk in. We received the message. Like everything else, it sunk in. It sunk in with magazine covers and standards and scales and diets. It sunk into the minds of seventy percent of the young women between the ages of 14 and 24 and how many can wiggle free from it? Maybe you were someone who thought the "Am I fat?" question and answer period was unique to you? Unless I have my facts wrong, if we don't eat, we die. Even with that common knowledge, there are still people who don't eat. Those people will die. It is the reality of an eating disorder. Blame the media or the culture or the "distorted society' in which we live. It's the models. It's the parents. It's the kid who called you obese when you were five. We all wonder who is leading the revolution that is wasting people away. Let us worry more for the ones who follow. The question should not be why anorexia and bulimia start, but why they don't stop. Anorexia and bulimia are the biological diseases that mirror the "distortion of a natural human response to famine." Psychologists, social scientists, historians, and physicians seek to explain the contemporary causes of eating disorders. We have statistics and case studies. We focus on the root of the problem. We examine whether the instinct to control has gone awry or the problem of low self-esteem has......

Evaluate the following criteria, in order of importance to you, in regard to the workplace: material wealth, success, career satisfaction, and work-life. Determine whether or not you believe there is a way to balance them. Provide two suggestions on how this could be done. Support your position. There are several ways in which a mentor program and new employee orientation can assist employees with their career development. In my current position, we have a mentor program that last for the first six months of a person’s time on the job. During that period, they are paired with a seasoned peer that is responsible for some on the job training as well as aiding them with navigating the corporate culture. This is important because it aids in helping a new employee feel a part of the organization. Employees who feel a part of the organization often feel more passionate about their work. Another reason a new employee orientation is important is because it introduces employees to corporate policies and procedures. Policies and procedures are basically the rules that an organization abides by. Think About Something

...I have just spent the last 10 minutes lying in my bed with no distractions thinking about the amount of homework that I have to complete this week. As I lied there I kept my eyes closed and began to think of all the different classes that I had and what each class had for homework. While doing this I began to talk to myself and worked to come to a conclusion of what I had already done, and what I needed to accomplish. As I lied there thinking and talking to myself I started to see images in my mind. The image was a to do list that I could clearly see that had each of the activities I had to complete in an order that my subconscious mind perceived as the best way to complete everything. I do not believe that this visualization would have been obtainable if I first did not speak to myself what I had to do. I believe that Herder is right when he says that thinking requires language. I had my friend Davis go to his room to think for a few minutes. I told him that he had to think solely about a golf round and only think in pictures. He came out 10 minutes later to tell me how hard it was for him to simply just visualize a round of golf. The whole time he was playing his round he said he found himself talking to himself about the shot that he had and what he had to do with each shot before he hit it. Since he was supposed to think only in pictures this was hard for him. He came to the conclusion that thinking is easier when you are allowed to communicate with yourself......

What They Really Think About Race

...October 2013 What They Really Think About Race In Spike Lee’s film, Do the Right Thing racist stereotypes are a recurring theme throughout the entire film. The slurs are used explicitly in one of the most interesting scenes of the entire film. The three minute and thirty-four second scene shows six different characters breaking the fourth-wall between the audience and each character. The camera angles in the scene also show that the characters know that they are addressing an audience for the purpose of expressing their views on the race they are criticizing. Looking directly into the camera is usually a sin for actors to do. However, each character looks directly into the camera, acknowledging that they know it is there, and citing their rant without looking away. The affect this has makes it seem as though that character is speaking to a person directly. While this scene stands out the most for its obvious use of racist stereotypes, it is only a platform for the entire films views on racism. The scene starts with an intense conversation between Mookie and Pino. The topic of their discussion is race. Mookie questions Pino on why he constantly refers to African American people as ‘niggas’. Pino acts like he despises black people, however Mookie brings up a great point about all of his favorite celebrities, are niggas. Magic Johnson, Eddie Murphy, and Prince are all BLACK celebrities, that Pino is a fan of. His response to Mookie’s question was, “they’re not niggas, I......

She announced that she would take the day anyway, and when she subsequently failed to report for work, was fired for insubordination, plus the unexcused absence. Think About Me

...Think about Everything Am not blind to your sensibilities. I know what you are going through. You feel hurt, Angry and confused too Most People have being into it. There were those who won And those who were defeated. I guess its not totally bad, that you feel this way. Because it's the right feeling and time when right choices are made, When core values are developed And when womanhood is attained. Its the period when a lady changes into the woman she will become the rest of her life. Its the feeling and time that turns one into a beast or a slave. Be careful who you change into. Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. You need this time and feeling Am sure you do. But you must not be defeated. Because when I look at you, I feel things not quite normal. I see a lady who is strong and weak at the same time. I see a young woman who is excited and at the same time terrified. I see a potential woman full of fear and courage at the same time. The truth is, I see a lady who doesn't know what she feels except she knows what kind of woman she needs to be. It is as if you have reached the unreachable and you were not ready for it. I would be lying if I tell you that i dont love you I do. I so much do. But whats the essence in the mist of heightened fear and confusion. You said I never existed, You were right in that. No doubt. I mean, how could you have seen me when there is much before you already? How could I have existed......
