Riordan Manufacturing
Mr. Hugh McCauley, COO of Riordan Manufacturing, came to me and asked for my help to develop a modern application that integrates all the existing programs that are used by the Human Resource (HR) department for the different areas in the company. He is also requesting a description of the business requirements for the HR system, and he would also like how the plan can be implemented, time, cost, and what each department would need to collect for me to be able to do this project. Mr. McCauley has also asked me to have the system up and running in six months because he would like to use it by the second quarter at all location.
In each of the different departments of Riordan Manufacturing, I would need to gather any information that would be necessary for the departments to complete their job such as files that are shared, applications used, and anything else they exchange on a daily basis. I would request this information from the department head or person in that department that I would choose as a representative for that department. I would also give them a couple weeks to gather all of the information that they feel like they would be in need of or that would help them to be better and return it to me. The departments, or stakeholders, of the company areas followed: Finance and Accounting, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources (HR), Operations, Legal, and Information Technology (IT). I will also have to take into consideration what each department at each location needs individually at each location to operate smoothly and place that as well into the system.
At Riordan Manufacturing, there are three different operating locations and they are in Georgia, Michigan, and California along with a location in the People's Republic of China. Based at each location, you will find all of the different departments that I have listed previously, and…...

They are also looking to have $46 million of projected annual earnings. Riordan Industries owns the company that is a fortune 1000 enterprise that has over $1 billion in revenue. The company produces containers, custom parts, and fan parts all in plastic. This can be seen in any of their Albany, Georgia; Pontiac, Michigan; and Hangzhou, China manufacturing plants.  Their Chinese plant was set up as a joint venture between Riordan and small consortium of Chinese nationals.   Capacity planning is a strategy that can be used to identify what is needed to produce what is being asked of the business in the way of demand for the goods and services. A capacity plan depends on accurate input and constructive feedback from the planners that supports the company’s long range strategy ("What Is Capacity Planning?", 2013).
