We seem to have a problem with losing code, forms, and whole projects to “the network.” The symptoms include “unable to find my project,” “unable to zip my project,” etc. Though I’ve gone over this and though most folks understand, I’ll review this again for the sake of clarity.

The steps below must be followed precisely. This isn’t brain surgery, it’s just understanding where to put your projects so they’re safe, transportable, and zipp-able.

I’ll provide artwork a little later, but here are the basic steps:

1. Create a folder ON YOUR DESKTOP and leave it there. This folder will be called VSPROJECTS, exactly and precisely. Leave it there, always, and when you want to move things to/from your desktop, it’s as simple as inserting a flash drive! a. Move FROM desktop means you did some coding on the computer in-question and you want to save this to the flash drive. i. Insert the flash drive. ii. Right-mouse-click the VSPROJECTS folder on your desktop. COPY this. iii. Right-mouse-click the Windows Start Button and select EXPLORE. iv. Point to your FLASH DRIVE. v. Right-mouse-click the flash drive and select PASTE. vi. If you’ve done this before, Windows will ask you to confirm the replacement of folders and files. Check the box that says “YES TO ALL” and this ensures your data will move completely. You’ll copy the whole folder, and that’s fine. b. Move TO the desktop means you are taking data FROM the flashdrive to overwrite all the projects in the VSPROJECTS folder on your desktop. It suggests you worked on a machine elsewhere, archived all that work to your flash drive, and you want to save it to the desktop of the CURRENT MACHINE. vii. Insert the flash drive. viii. Right-mouse-click the Windows Start Button and select EXPLORE. ix.…...

Saving Sourdi

...For the Love of a Sister Many of us have siblings. You want to care and love on them as much as possible. Saving Sourdi demonstrates the love one sibling can have for another sibling as well as the struggle it takes to care for a loved one. In Saving Sourdi, May-Lee Chai utilizes sibling love, family protection, and courage as the three themes that Nea demonstrates for her older sister. The first theme, sibling love, shows the relationship between Nea and her older sister. Their relationship goes back and forth between good and bad. “Uncle fired Duke… It was during the Saturday lunch rush when Sourdi and I were not working and could not witness what had happened” (May-Lee Chai 74). This is good because they get to see each other and spend time together. “Now when I crept into Sourdi’s bed at night, when she talked about running away, she meant Duke and her” (May-Lee Chai 74). This is not a good situation because her older sister talks about running away with Duke. If this happened, Nea would never get to see her sister anymore. Having sisterly love is important because you need that special connection if you have a problem. You may not want to talk with your parents right away about something but need someone to be there for you. A sister connection would be good in that situation. The next theme, family protection, shows what Nea would do to save her sister. “I grabbed the knife and ran back out to Sourdi” (May-Lee Chai 70). Nea grabs a knife and comes......

Saving the Environment

...Saving the environment or better said ‘going green’, a hot topic at the moment. It seems like everything is about ‘going green’. Protection of our environment has become really important in today's society. Environmental movements are doing what they can to let people realize that what we are doing now is bad. The real problem however is that we realize what we are doing and yet we proceed doing it: exploiting natural sources for raw materials, unnecessary usage of water and cutting trees, every person with at least a bit of sense would realize that this is wrong. As for myself over the last couple of years I have started to realize what kind of devastating power the human possesses and it seems like, roughly said, nobody cares. To nearly everyone the name Green Peace rings a bell and if you would ask a person what they stand for and are fighting for the majority will answer correctly and will whether they want it or not face the fact that something has to change and quick. If you would have asked me if we should help the environment in the past I probably would have said yes and continuing with the question how, I would have just said something lame like everyone should change their light bulbs for energy saving light bulbs like everyone else. Now however things have changed. Nearly all electric machines, household appliances and even cars got environmentally friendly equivalents. But to be honest I know that it probably is too much asked to expect everyone would......

Saving Sourdi

...In the story “Saving Sourdi” by May-Lee Chai I chose to write about the character Sourdi. Sourdi was the main objective of the story. She was Nea’s (the main character) older sister. Sourdi seems to have a round character. She blossoms from a teen into a young mature married woman. She begins a new life with her husband forming their own family. I can relate to Sourdi in the story because I am the oldest of four siblings. I have a five and six year age gap from my two younger sisters. My younger sisters were very overprotective of me when I was growing up. They would always team up and try to stand up for me. They did not realize that I was capable and mature enough to defend myself if I needed to in any situation. In the story “Mines” by Susan Straight I chose to write about the character Clarette. Clarette’s purpose in the story is to show others that she is a motivated strong hard working woman that will support and raise her children no matter how depressing her job can be. Clarette seems to have a round character. She is a single mother that strives hard to provide and raise her children from negative influences. I can relate to Clarette in the story although I do not have children yet. I will always strive to provide my future children with everything they need so they grow up and develop into a positive member of our society....

Saving Energy

...Saving Energy Agriculture is at risk from climate change as temperatures, pest levels and growing seasons change. However, agriculture also contributes to these effects through emissions from fertilizers, water wastage and biological processes. A third of vegetables and fruit consumed in the EU are produced by protected horticulture. As 90% of the greenhouse growers are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), they have to compete with cheaper labor, production costs and regular supply from producers outside the EU. The EU-funded EUPHOROS project increased the efficient use of inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides in protected horticulture. The four-year study, completed in August 2012, developed a sustainable greenhouse system that does not fully rely on fossil fuels for energy and minimizes the carbon footprint of agriculture. The project achieved a 50% reduction in the amount of energy used as well as a sizeable saving of chemical inputs: a third less fertilizers and a tenth less pesticides. The result was a number of structured components that can be used by farmers across the EU, three of which contain innovative tools and systems to reduce energy, water, fertilizer, pesticide consumption and waste. Another intervention optimizes the growing environment, developing innovative and robust monitoring tools. A theoretical analysis was also conducted throughout the project to quantify the reduction of resource inputs and carbon footprint delivered by each component,......

Saving or Investing

...Saving or Investing How do you decide where to put your money? People are well aware that they need to save money. That being said saving in itself is not really going to help you; you have to do something with the money. That means that you will need to invest your money. A lot of people are afraid to do this but there is really no reason to be afraid if you know what you are doing. What are the differences between saving and investing? Your "savings" are usually put into the safest places or products that allow you access to your money at any time. Examples include savings accounts, checking accounts, and certificates of deposit. When you "invest," you have a greater chance of losing your money than when you "save." But when you invest, you also have the opportunity to earn more money than when you save.  Investing is, well, everything else. Instead of putting your cash in a savings account, when you invest you are generally putting your money into company shares, government or corporate bonds or property – either directly or through a fund. This involves accepting the risk you may get back less than you put in, which is why the rewards – when they do come – are higher. Done well, investing should protect your money against the effects of inflation and give you a stronger return, compounded over time.  Of course investment and saving are not separate things; in order to have money to invest you will need to save it. The important point is that you are better off......

Saving for Retirement

...when it comes to saving for retirement. You don’t want to be too cautious (relying on just treasury bills that have barely kept up with inflation the last 70 years being an extreme example.) You don’t want to put too much weight into your stocks making your portfolio too risky and possibly jeopardizing your earnings and prolonging your retirement date. Your ability and willingness to take risk directly relates to your expected returns. A lot of factors go into your ability to generate returns through mutual funds, stocks and bonds. [pic] Google images Your age also plays a role in how you will invest for your retirement. The older you are and the closer you are to retirement, your tolerance for risk in your portfolio will go down. When you are close to retirement, the last thing you can afford is losing your savings. If you are younger and are many years away from retirement you will be more inclined to put more weight into stocks because if the market takes a downturn you have more time to recover your losses. Whether you are employed or not determines your willingness to take risk in terms of your ability to replace financial losses that may occur with your active income. Also an often overlooked factor that comes with investing for retirement is your psychological ability to tolerate the stress of a serious downturn in the market. Saving Nea

...Saving Nea In the short fictional story, “Saving Sourdi,” author May-lee Chai focuses on the bond and relationship between two sisters, Nea and Sourdi. Nea, the younger sibling in “Saving Sourdi,” looks up and admires her older sister, Sourdi. As the two sisters grow in age, Nea isn’t ready to face reality and watch her older sibling start a life without her. Throughout the story, Nea makes desperate attempts to “save” her older sister. In reality, Nea is the character in the story that needs to be “saved”, rather than her sister. Nea, the protagonist and major character in “Saving Sourdi,” is immature and dramatic. At the age of eleven, Nea stabs a man at the restaurant, after hearing him call Sourdi a “China doll.” While Sourdi manages to remain calm during this event, Nea reacts without thinking of the consequences. Toward the end of the story, Nea calls Duke and tells him that her sister is in danger. “Look, I don’t have time to explain. We have to go tonight. It’s an emergency. A matter of life and death.”(Chai 91). Here, Nea acts without thinking and makes it sound like Sourdi will die if they don’t go to Des Moines. Nea’s decision to call Duke for help leads to Sourdi’s husband getting punched in the face. Also, this episode results in the two sisters growing further apart, which is not Nea’s intention. The mother brings some light onto Nea as a character. She tells Nea: “You not like your sister. Your sister know how to bear things!”(Chai 90). What does the mother......

In this society, we will constantly learn the importance of saving face and the ways of doing it. Also we realize the consequences of losing face and how to avoid it. Why people try to save their face in front of others? Well, there is variety of reasons why saving face is so important to people. One of the main reasons is respect. Many people try to have a better face in others opinion in order to get their respect. Also beside this respect, you will gain authenticity. People will rely on you and give you more credit because of your good appearance in a group or society. As I quote from A Separate Peace by John Knowles “I went along; I never missed a meeting. At that time it would never have occurred to me to say, “I don’t feel like it tonight,” which was the plain truth every night,” (Knowles 26), Gene, who is the narrator of this story, endures this difficult situation that he must appear in every meeting because of peer pressure. He wants to save his face in front......

Saving Planet Earth: Saving Life

...SAVING PLANET EARTH : SAVING LIFE Earth is one of the most wonderful creations of God. It is being created for living things to live in. A planet where a man has the capability to dominion over all creations. An avenue where every being enjoys life to the fullest ― the fresh air, the enticing green plants, the clean surrounding, and the numerous human luxuries in life. In fact, we take so much from the planet Earth everyday. Everything is very crucial in our lives. We need one another to survive as the adage says “No man is an island.” We can’t live without other living things on this earth even a simple plant, animal, and worst the absence of air. Human beings are radical, but we’ve never realized the damaged that we are creating nowadays. We take for granted of the environment that we have without analyzing the consequences. We tend to forget our responsibilities despite of enjoying all the rights that we have. The passing of times is just like a click of a finger which brought us in this very challenging environment where we human creatures slowly by slowly destroying our planet earth. Thus, it doesn’t stop tinkering in our minds the question why we let all of these happened to our own planet? Everyday our environment is being dumped with tremendous wastes; Illegal loggers continue to cut trees even the young ones; Fishermen still using dynamites and fine nets in fishing; and various pollutions accumulated everyday from man’s......

Energy Savings

...Observations: As per the preliminary investigation performed in CAPOL production units of CSPP, SE plant, Refinery and the boiler division. There are number of areas identified for the possible energy savings in the plant. It is further required to either perform field trials and case dependent data acquisition is needed to assess the feasibility of changing the particular component in the production line. 1. The plant at present using very large number of electrical motors ranging upto more than 100 HP for the power transmission requirements. Observations are that the motors are being rewinded number of times with in-house-technicians, it is more likely that the motor efficiency and performance characteristics may got detoriated. The gear boxes in use with the motors are also in service from number of years and they were serviced number of times during the plant operation. Replacement of the gear box with a new gear box is likely to provide energy conservation as well replacing the electric motor and the combination of the motor and the gear box also provide better energy savings to the plant operation. Remark: Field trails are needed to estimate the payback periods and possibility of scheduling the replacement. 2. There is need for the keeping insulation on all the steam lines – it is observed missing lagging in several locations, also required is complete replacement of steam lines in some of the locations of the steam passage. Also found are the steam leakages in...

Saving Honor

...Saving Honor The poem, Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, shows how one of Camelot’s most revered knights, Sir Gawain, will fight for his life, honor, and dignity. Camelot, King Arthur, and The Knights of The Round Table are all names synonymous with all that is good. During the fourteenth century, the knights are expected to have honor and respect for all citizens and Sir Gawain is the epitome of honor. Gawain does not think highly of himself but sustains a high status with knights being a blood relative of King Arthur. By story’s end, Gawain will question if he maintains his honor, respect, and dignity in a fight for his life. The poem opens with Arthur, the knights, and some members of the community celebrating the new year when an unknown knight arrives in the kingdom. The narrator describes him as, “giant” in stature: he, his horse, and his ax are all green, but with a green armor outlined in gold. He calls out his challenge, “give me a well-aimed stroke, and agree / To accept another in repayment when my turn / Arrives” (1. 294-296). Eager to prove his bravery to his uncle, the king, Gawain accepts the challenge. He understands that he will face the same fate one year later and takes the Green Knight’s ax, swings with all his might, and beheads him. At the moment, the hubris of Gawain is at the highest level. Gawain thinks it may be the end of his challenge, but the Green Knight retrieves his head from the floor and tells Gawain to meet him a year to the date at the......

Saving and Investment

...Saving and Investment Macroeconomics Assignment 1 Matthew Killeen 8173969 Professor: Octavian Strimbu Assignment - Saving and Interest Question: Many commentators, including high officials of the bank of Canada, have blamed the spending habits of the Canadian public for high interest rates. Are these commentators right? “It’s not your salary that makes you rich, it’s your spending habits.” - Charles A. Jaffe. Throughout the past 25 years, Canadians household savings rate have dropped severely resulting in the economy’s interest rates to rise in order to maintain stability. Many economists believe the increase in interest rates is due to the rise in consumer spending habits. In our current economy there is an evident relation between the diminishing house hold savings and the increase in interest rates in the Canadian public. When it comes to consumer spending and saving there is a clear trade-off, choosing to save now and consume more later, results in giving up current consumption. Many Canadians lose a good amount of their income due to enforced tax laws, causing them to spend instead of save. I agree with the the statement that the spending habits of Canadian Public is to be blamed because of high interest rates. The relationship between Canadians spending habits and high interest rates can be expressed through the supply and demand of loanable funds and the highly recognized Gross Domestic Product Equation. Since Canadian spending......
