Observational Report 2 Social-Awareness

...Observational Report 2 Social-Awareness November 3, 2011 Boyatzis, Goleman and McKee (2004) state that Social-Awareness means “being attuned to how others feel in the moment, a leader can say and do what’s appropriate, whether that means calming fears, assuaging anger, or joining in good spirits. This attunement also helps the leader sense the shared values and priorities that can help guide the group.” Therefore it basically gives one the ability to be more empathetic which in turn, allows them to create resonance. Social-Awareness according to authors Greene and Kamimura (2003) is defined in terms of the importance that students attribute to: 1) speaking up against social injustice; 2) creating awareness of how people affect the environment; 3) promoting racial tolerance and respect; and 4) making consumer decisions based on a company’s ethics. Our personal and professional lives present multiple opportunities to practice Social-Awareness. Like our personal lives, one must avoid creating barriers in their professional lives that prevent them from achieving personal goals and aspirations. In this example, as a direct result of the tragedy that occurred in New York City, September 11, 2001, Arab Americans or those perceived to be Arabian have been unfairly treated by unenlightened Americans. They have been and continue to be targeted as if they themselves flew those planes into the trade center or were the masterminds behind it. The hundreds of news reports......

Social Networking Report

...Social Networking 1. Introduction Social networking is like small rural communities, filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other people. Social networking is not necessarily a bad thing, in fact, social networking makes communication and sharing easier and even business models are using them. However, when such practices are becoming more common, people are less likely to question about the dangers and start using it as well. Up till this day, people are increasingly thinking that sharing and communicating online are more important than privacy and security (Elsas, 2008). The purpose of this paper is to further raise awareness of the benefits and dangers of social networking. It also covers examples of why people should pay more attention to dangers they might encounter before posting anything online. 2. Benefits While there are many dangers when social networking, there are certain potential advantages when it comes to communicating and sharing online. Social networking provides better chances for people to communicate and build up relationships with one another and it is also important to encourage others to build positive relationships with others online. 3.1. Gaining social confidence online Children improve relationships with friends that they have never met online (Pekel, 2012). For example, making friends online before meeting them, allows them to get to know the other better before meeting up. This usually works with......

This is why I choose to follow my internship abroad; to learn and develop new sets of skills and to experience working abroad. The reason I choose SA Kargo for my internship is because that the company itself is an international freight forwarding and it is the best to practice my previous international business studies. It seemed convenient for me knowing that one of my relatives is nearby, someone who can help me and show me the way in Shah Alam while doing my internship. In this internship report I will describe my experiences during my internship period. The internship report contains an overview of the internship company and the activities, tasks and projects that I have worked on during my internship. Writing this report, I also will describe and reflect my learning objects and personal goals that I have set during my internship period. 4.
