I look at completing the online MBA, much like an athlete running a marathon. For a bystander, from the outside it would seem ridiculous, that a human would put his body through the unnecessary stress of running 26.2 miles for no rhyme or reason. However, the athletes set out to achieve their personal goals.

Many of my colleagues at work probably think like the bystander, “We are already overworked and add to that do an MBA? “. That would seem like piling on more to an already busy schedule. However, I believe that the MBA program to me would be as a sip of Gatorade™ to the marathoner. Just as the marathoner, I have a desire to run the distance, at a pace I can handle. I need the resourcefulness to find time to study, the initiative to look at every step as a step forward, and the persistence to say, “I may be slow, but I will not give up!”

To me hope and confidence are conflicting ideas. Both are positives, however, if you have the confidence that you can run the distance, you do not need to “hope” that you will get the finish line. Nevertheless, when you are not confident, hope is the emotion that can get you through.

Optimism is of paramount importance, as the opposite of this mindset could quickly eat away the positive spirit. (Matthew 26: 41) “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Resiliency as defined by Merriam-Webster is “the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress”. I believe that rather than resiliency, we come out of this program better than what we started with.

The road that a Manager needs to run is much like a cross-country runner, there are up hills and down slopes, puddles, streams to cross, rocky ground to traverse and sometime even find a snake basking across the trail. With such diverse…...

The MBA program will provide me the tools to understand and implement business and management principles. I have been working professionally for more than 15 years in challenging positions with engineering companies and have good experience with many of the problems businesses and markets are facing today. An MBA degree will help me find more employment opportunities and it will make me a more marketable professional. Although I want to start my own business and an MBA will help me do it. I am convinced that in today’s economy we need more job makers than job seekers. Earning an MBA is not a decision to be entered into lightly. The biggest disadvantage of taking an MBA program is its cost. The average cost of an MBA is estimated at $30,000 and there is significant time, attention, and energy involved, and there's no guarantee that I will land the perfect job after completing the program. In addition to this, getting an online MBA program will prevent students to have face-to-face contact and networking opportunities. The lack of student-to-student contact is also a disadvantage of an online MBA program.......

Why I Pursue Mba Program

...to Pursue an MBA Degree Getting an MBA degree has always been my goal after finishing my first degree in Business Administration. MBA degree will help me in clarifying my strengths; therefore, giving me the opportunity to focus more. I also believe that people that have their MBA degree make more money than those with first degree in the long run. Being in MBA program opens up opportunities to network with fellow students, which may eventually land one a very good job opportunity. An MBA degree holder is always been looked at as someone who is experienced and skilled in their chosen profession; therefore, commanding more respect from others. Having done my Jungian 16-type personality assessment, my personality result is ENTP. ENTP means: Extrovert, Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving. A person with “ENTP personality is innovative, individualistic, versatile, and entrepreneurial. Possible career as politician, strategic planner, literary agent, publicist, entrepreneur, investment broker, computer analyst and ad executive.” (Personality Inventory, 1989). This assessment gives me clearer vision of what I may likely pursue in my MBA program. I always see myself as an entrepreneur based on my personality; entrepreneurial, innovative and someone who likes to help the public. Based on my Jungian 16-type personality result, I will develop my interests and skills towards my personality type, so as to benefit from my potentials. Aside from the above mentioned points, MBA degree......

Mba Pursuit

...Pursuit of an MBA Marvin Conway MGT/521 1 April 2010 Construct and Support an Argument Decision to Pursue an MBA To some, pursuing higher education is a waste of money and time. Others, such as me, may argue that it is an accomplishment and the benefits from acquiring a degree are worth the efforts and hard work. With the current national unemployment rate at 9.7% (US Department of Labor, Feb 2010) and steadily rising, it seems improbable that finding that “ideal” job is likely. During these tough economic times, I find myself with a bachelor’s degree at a low paying job with a child to take care of. It is because of this situation that I have chosen to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in Accounting; receiving higher education could be the answer to my problem. According to the job outlook by education 2006-16 (Occupational Outlook Quarterly), increased earnings and lower rates of unemployment are trends associated with additional levels of education (Liming & Wolf, 2008). After taking the Jungian 16-Type Personality Self-Assessment test, scoring ISTJ, I found that my results support my decision to pursue my MBA with an emphasis in Accounting. A person scoring ISTJ are found to be organized, compulsive, private, trustworthy, and practical people. Their possible career choices are office manager, accountant, business manager, tax agent, and public servant (Pearson Prentice Hall, 2007). I recognize that I......

Why an Mba

...Why an MBA University of Phoenix MGT/521 May 31, 2010 I could not decide if I wanted to go after my Master’s in Business Administration, or just stop at my bachelor’s degree. It took me 26 years to decide to go back to school to pursue my AA in Accounting, despite all the pressures, and pushing that I had received from my parents and my family members. So in 2006 I decided that it was time, I looked around to a variety of different colleges and decided that I wanted to attend University of Phoenix Online because I did not want to deal with going to classes, instead I preferred to stay home and be comfortable. After my associates in accounting I decided that because I could still not find a permanent job, I would go ahead and pursue my bachelors of arts in accounting as well. When I was in my last class of my bachelor’s degree, I was toying around with going after my master’s in business administration, and then what will I specialize in. I had been looking for jobs for quite some times on the Internet and in the papers for quite some time and have been sending out hundreds of resumes and have received no responses. I figured that if I went for a master’s degree it would open many more doors in the future. It was a tough decision on whether I wanted to pursue that master’s in business, after all I had been going to school now for the past four years, or if I should just stop at my bachelor’s degree and look for a job. It turned out that finding a job was not working......

(750 words max) I was exposed to the world of finance when I first came to the United States, back in 2002. After finishing my Marketing program at Berkeley, I was hired as an unpaid intern at the now defunct investment bank, Bear Stearns, & Co. It was there, that my interest in finance soon turned into fascination at how the world financial markets worked. The fast-paced yet organized environment was unlike anything I had experienced and something, I decided then, that I wanted to be a part of. Over the last 5 years, I have worked at Bear Stearns (in their Private Bank and Institutional Equity Sales departments),...

...Keeping jokes apart, this is for all MBA-Freshers who are expecting big bucks after completing their MBA. “Dreaming Big” is not an issue but achieving that dream always starts with small steps. It is said that “Rome was not built in a day” similarly you can’t demand higher salaries because you are a MBA. What if you are a MBA? Are you having anything else to boast, about which the corporate world would appreciate. If yes, then go out and shout “I am having this X thing which could meet Y Company’s expectations and for the same reason, I should get salary of ` Z”. The point is to think big but build small, something you can be proud of. If you don’t have the things to boast about try for Plan B. Make your career plan in such a way that you start with small company with small salary learn lots many things over there of-course at the Company’s cost, look out for options and in next couple of years take a big leap. Being a Placement Officer with KSMCS, I hear lot many times that students are saying; that I am having 2 years of work-experience and my last salary was ` 20K. So they must get at least that amount during placement process. My question to them is that if they are having experience of selling pharmaceutical products and they are applying in a Financial Company, how much relevance of their experience is to the latter company. As you are pursuing your MBA, you must be aware that MCA is always a Three Year Program, can’t you take your MBA also for Three Years, in......

Value of Mba

...spite of these factors, obtaining a Master’s degree in business (MBA) is still worth all the time and expense because of the value it serves. Having an MBA will help to make me more marketable in the health care industry and more likely to be considered for a management or administrative position. In the following pages I will discuss the reasons that, with the career goal of becoming a nurse executive, the value of an MBA degree outweighs the struggles that I may encounter while in the graduate program. In addition to acquiring a Master’s degree in nursing, to be a successful nurse executive one must also have some knowledge of how a business runs. The American Association of Nurse Executives (AAONE) lists standard competencies for the nurse executive. These competencies are outlined in a 2008 article in Nursing Economics and include skill sets in areas of financial management, human resource management, strategic management, and information management and technology. A nurse executive must be able to represent the nursing population while understanding the mechanics of the business. A nurse executive who can understand financial implications of clinical decisions and fiscal matters is a huge asset to the business aspect of the organization (Thomas et al., 2008). All of the competencies that the AAONE considers standards for nurse executives can be learned through an MBA program therefore making having an MBA an advantage for an aspiring nurse executive. Stichler......

My Mba Program Speech

...My MBA Program and what I have learned Thomas Domino University of Phoenix LAW/531: Business Law June 27, 2012 Michael Tancredi Good evening, my name is Thomas Domino AKA Tommy Tucker. I have been involved in businesses all my life. I’m an Artist. I started when I lived in Fairlawn N.J. with a paper route when I was 12 years old and continued after my family moved the next year to a small town in upstate N.Y. called Washingtonville. My dad being a Cost Engineer for Kellogg heating and coolant equipment designs, and with a large family, he always encouraged all of my 5 brothers and 2 sisters to help with family chores; that included outside projects. One of our family businesses was hand decorated felt family character images glued to ceramic plates. My mother and father would approach friends and acquaintances from our neighborhood and the church as customers. The plate business grew so fast, I had to use my Artistic talents to help my mother design and produce the plates. Years later my mother was still making decorative plates for her “mad money” to spend in Atlantic City, N.J. at the casinos. During my teenage years, I painted signs for local businesses, and also had a lawn mowing business. So I learned the art of dealing with customers, delivering a product or providing a service for the exchange for money values. I also trapped animals, and sold the pelts to middleman fur dealers around Christmas time; used the......
