State Agency Initiative Project The focus of this project will center on South Carolina Initiative called “Strengthening Families South Carolina.” In this project, the subject to discuss will be to recognize where this initiative began at the state level and how it was supported. Most important, the subject to discuss is how the initiative influences local government and communities and recognize how this initiative was implemented at the agency using the personnel structure. The subject to discuss in this project is also to deliberate if privatization is a better alternative to carry out this initiative. Finally, I will present an organizational chart of the South Carolina Department of Social Services that displays the relationship between the state government’s structure with the local government’s structure, along with each component’s function and how privatization influences both state and local structures. Identify where this initiative originated at the state level and how it was supported The South Carolina State Initiative “Strengthening Families South Carolina” is conducted by the Children’s Trust of South Carolina (SCDSS, 2012). Most important, this initiative is a foundation created by the Center for the Study of Social Policy over the last ten years to stop child neglect and abuse (SCDSS, 2012). At first, The Strengthening Families South Carolina Program was implemented in drug courts, schools, community mental health centers, churches, and public housing communities (SCDSS, 2012). The South Carolina Department of Social Services supported the Strengthening Families South Carolina initiative for the purpose to educate, train, and assists them in carrying out effective practices…...

...Language and Decoding It must be understood that words are broken up into smaller units of sounds called phonemes. Being able to pronounce and articulate phonemes is obviously essential. Further, having awareness that sounds can be manipulated, segmented and blended to create words in just as critical. This is both key to reading, writing, and spelling. When a kindergarten student ask you how to spell a particular word. The common answer is usually “sound it out”. In order for this method to work, one must be able to dissect a word into its finite parts in order to map each sound to the corresponding letter or letters. According to Roth, Paul & Pierotti, Children who perform well on sound awareness tasks become successful readers and writers, while children who struggle with such tasks often do not. (2006,par.2) Language and Vocabulary Teaching children to decode or sound out words is usually the starting point for reading instruction. Ultimately, readers have to understand what they are reading and writing. In order for them to fully comprehend the material, the student must have a significant repertoire of known words or vocabulary such as “site words”. Kindergarten vocabulary is primarily learned from the parents, friends or their community. Children who come from a proper English speaking homes have more of an advantage to learn up to three times as many words as a child from a non-proper English speaking home. The various practices followed by the corporate in different parts of the world differ significantly. In the Developed nations, the basic needs of the population do not need so much support as in the under-developed nations. Initiative

...Initiative means to have the ability to assess and initiate things independently. It means to take initiative when someone needs something done but they don't want to ask for help, you can take initiative and do it yourself. I define initiative by doing what you think is best for you and helping out others around you because it is right to treat people the way you want to be treated. Initiative is the ability to act and make decisions without the help or advice of other people. Initiative is the first step in a process that, once taken, determines subsequent events it is also a plan or strategy designed to deal with a particular problem. Initiative is a favourable position that allows somebody to control events. I have demonstrated initiative on the job by asking the teacher if she needs any help towards any school work or preparation for the next class. I can also show initiative by being prepared for class, ask questions when needed clarification, and always ask if the teacher needs help in any department. I pass time by walking around the classroom checking if students are on task and not waisting their time doing stuff they should not be doing. I also help with an autistic student in the classroom, I take him to the library so that no one can bother him while trying to do work, and he focus' better when no one is around. I also pass time helping out with volleyball practices and game to get a better understanding of other roles you can play while being a teacher, it takes...

Initiative

...Initiative 1: Use the expectancy theory to motivate the staffs. Perry says he was not averse to sharing profit to his staffs but he does not know how to sharing the profit equally to them. As well as he wants to adopt the consultant’s suggestion to increase the percentage of the collections. However he also worried about the mediocre ones cannot get the enough rewards; besides, he wanted to know why this option could improve staffs’ motivation. (1) We recommend Perry to use the Expectancy Theory. We believe this theory can solve Perry’s problem well and responds to his concern. “Expectancy theory is based on the premise that a person will be motivated to put forth a higher level of effort if they believe their efforts will result in higher performance and thus better rewards”(“Vroom’s Expectancy”, n.d.). The first step must to know the staffs’ expectancy; one-on-one meeting will be a good method to get a better understanding of the staffs and let the staffs know what will relate to their expectancy. “Expectancy is the faith that better efforts will result in better performance”(Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d.). Time Frame and Scope of Difficulty: 3 months, Medium Difficulty (2) Instrumentality, it means staffs gain reward or get punishment depend on their performance (Theories of Motivation, n.d.). Thus, we suggest that Perry may build a satisfactory set of records, which is used to record the staffs’ performance. As well as the record system must to be......

Five States' Voter-Driven Initiatives/Laws Relating to Englis

...Before I can start to write about Equal Opportunity and Education I must first define Equal Opportunity. Equal Opportunity is a right supposedly guaranteed by both federal and many state laws against any discrimination in employment, education, housing or credit rights due to a person’s race, color, sex (or sometimes sexual orientation), religion, national origin, age or handicap. The United States has had a long and rough road to equal opportunity in education. During the colonial era, only boys from wealthy families were given the opportunity for a formal education, while girls from wealthy families were educated by governess. Wealthy planters home schooled their boys. During this era, girls were educated in the basic subjects of reading, writing, and arithmetic just enough for them to read and understand their Bible and take care of the household accounts. From the beginning of the nation through and just past the Civil War, white men were the predominant people for educational opportunity. Fewer women went to college, and those who did were talked into becoming nurses, teachers, artists, or other jobs considered at the time to be suitable for women. One must be reminded that during this time, the role of women in society was to raise children and attend to the household. Women who did not get married were persuaded into secretarial positions, nursing, or teaching. This was the view of women in this era. Minorities, such as African Americans and immigrants, were......

Evaluate How an Organisation’s Strategic Initiatives Can Be Achieved Through a Project Portfolio

...Evaluate How An Organisation’s Strategic Initiatives Can Be Achieved Through A Project Portfolio Meskendahl (2010) defines business strategies as tactics used by a company to compete in the market compared to its competitors. As organisations strive to beat competition and deliver customer satisfaction effectively and efficiently, the use of projects thus increase. Project portfolio can be used as the bridge between strategy formulation and strategy implementation (Meskendahl 2010; Cleland 1999; Dietrich & Lehtonen 2005; Grundy 2000). Archer & Ghasemzadeh (1999) defines project portfolio as a “set of projects that share and compete for scarce resources and are carried out under the sponsorship and management of a particular organisation”. Thus it is of great importance to structure project portfolio in alignment with the organisation’s strategy so as to archive business objectives. According to Cooper et al. (2002), the following are three main objectives for project portfolio management: • Increasing financial value • Aligning portfolio to strategic goals • Balancing the projects within the firm’s capacities In order to archive this objective there is a need to understand the strategic orientation of the firm or what we call corporate mindset (Meskendahl 2010; Talke 2007). Strategies should consider the position of the business both internally and externally for example, a company’s systematic advantage towards its competitors (Morgan & Strong,......
