Cable Testers

...Unit 6 Cable Testers Cable Tester is a device that is used to check the connectivity of and signal strength of a wired cable installation to insure the server and computer are properly installed. A tester main function is to determine connectivity and provide the installer with information regarding a pass or fail reading. Cable testers will be used at the time of installation and while trouble shooting a problem. Although testers can be purchased in a high to low price range, it is best to purchase high quality equipment, this will save time frustration and money. Time-Domain Reflectmeters (TDR) is the standard tool used to determine the length of a copper cable and locates the impedance signal, caused by shorts, damaged cables and interference with other systems. LCD or CRT screen display their reading in a waveform. A high quality TDR can test any type of cable that uses metallic conductors, such as coaxial and twisted pairs. TDR have many more valuable functions such as detecting large faults, water damage, crimped, cut smashed cables measures lengths and distances to any of issues. TDR can also be used as an inventory tool allowing the installer to determine if the reel contains enough cable to complete a particular job. It is my opinion that the TDR should be included in cable kit. Multifunction Cable Scanners, primary advantage is its user friendly applications, by simply connecting the unit to the cable and pressing a button the unit will perform most of......

Unit 6 Assignment 1 Cable Testers

...Wire-Map Testers A wire-map tester transmits signals through each wire in a copper twisted-pair cable to determine if it is connected to the correct pin at each end. Wire-map testers detect transposed wires, opens, and shorts which are all problems that can render a cable useless. A wire-map tester consists of a remote unit that you attach to the far end of a connection and the battery-operated, handheld main unit that displays the results. Typically, the tester displays various codes to describe the type of faults it finds, so you know which part of the cable you messed up on or what else may be wrong with it. Tone Generators Tone generators are the simplest type of copper cable tester. A tone generator is made up of two parts, a tone generator and a probe. These are sometimes referred to as a fox and hound wire tracer. With a standard jack, you connect to the cable the unit that transmits a signal, or, with an alligator clip, you connect the unit to an individual wire. The other unit is an inductive amplifier, which is a pen like probe that emits an audible tone when touched to the other end of the conductor. Tone generators are most often used to locate a specific connection in a punch-down block. Using a tone generator is extremely time-consuming and it is nearly as prone to errors as the cable installation. Time-Domain Reflectometers A TDR is the primary tool used to determine the length of a copper cable and to locate the impedance variations that are caused by......

Organizational goals and employee needs are considered mutual and compatible in this approach, instead of simply addressing them as separate things. In other words, one need cannot be gained at the expense of the other (Human Resource Management... 6). The human resource manager in charge of the corporate office of a large brewing company, and also the manager that I interviewed, is Lori Fulmer. Mrs. Fulmer is the benefits and risk manager of Gordon Biersch. Organization Information Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch founded their first restaurant in Palo Alto in 1988. What began as a single restaurant brewery collaboration soon turned into a chain. A little over two years ago, Trolley Barn Breweries Holding Company, which consists of many Big River Grille restaurants, Rock Bottom, A1A Ale House and...

Unit 6. Assigment 1. Cable Testers

...ASSIGMENT 1. CABLE TESTERS. THE THREE CABLES TESTERS I WOULD PICK IN MY LINE UP WOULD BE THE OPTICAL LOSS TEST SET AND TEST KIT, THE TDR, AND THE TONE GENERATORS. THE OPTICAL LOSS TEST SET AND KITS WORKS MORE SO IN A LAB BASED SET UP THEN OUT ON THE FIELD BUT THE TEST KITS IS MORE FAVORABLE BY FIBER TECHS BECAUSE IT HAS A POWER METER AND LIGHT SOURCE THAT ARE MADE TO WORK TOGETHER. THE TDR (TIME DOMAIN REFLECTOR) IS A TOOL THAT IS USED BE SENDING A TONE OR / BEAM OF LIGHT (WITH A DATA ON IT SOME TIMES) AND WILL MEASURE HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR THAT TONE TO REACH THE DESTINE PLACE AND OR BACK TO THE SENDER FROM WHICH IT CAME. AND DEPENDING ON HOW LONG IT TAKES TO COME BACK (IF IT EVER DOES) WILL USUALLY LET YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR FAULT IS IN TYOU NETWORK CABLING THE TONE GENERATOR IS USED BY GENERATING A CERATIN TONE ALONG THE CABLING TO LET YOU KNOW WHERE EXACTLY YOU INCOSISTANCIES ARE WITH IN THAT SPECIFIC CABLE. THE OPTICAL LOSS TEST SET AND TEST KITS WILL SEEM TO WORK BEST WITH FIBER BASED LAYOUT, THE TIME DEFLECTIVE DOMAIN WILL WORK BEST ON THICKNET CABLING SET UPS AND THE TONE GENERATOR WILL WORK BEST ON COPPER/COAXIL LIKE SET UPS. THE TWO TESTER I THINK SHOULD BE IN EVER TECHS INSTALL KITS WILL BE THE TDR AND THE OPTICAL LOSS TEST SET AND TEST KITS THE REASON WHY IS THAT BOTH OF THESE TESTERS CAN SEND TESTING SIGNALS DOWN A CABLE THAT GOES IN OR THRU WALL OR TIGHT SPACES THAT THE HUMAN HAND CANT REACH NOT THE EYE CAN SEE, ALSO MOST OF THESE TESTERS WILL GIVE YOU A......

...NAME: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Apple Inc. is an American company whose reach is multinational. Apple designs, manufacturers personal computers, consumer electronics, software, as well as services related to each of the primary areas just discussed. Apple’s 2013 10-K reports that “The Company designs, manufacturers, and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computes, and portable digital music players, and sells a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications. Despite the MP3 players having already been introduced to the world, it was not until Apple released its version of what it felt an MP3 player should look and feel like that the mass market took notice. Apple released its initial MP2 player, its iPod, in 2001. Since the release of that product, Apple has experienced a ridiculous amount of growth. In fact, Apple has been listed as one of the most successful electronics companies in the world (Apple’s 2013 10-K). With Steve Jobs back in control at Apple, The Company did anything but rest on its laurels. Of these primary areas in which Apple focuses, the most important of these is its communication and media devices division. AS Suman Chatterjee (2013) writers in an article published on SeekingAlpha.com, “With the release of the iPhone 5 and strong ties with Verizon (with a US market share of 31.9%) and AT&T (with a US market share of 35.4%), Apple’s share in...

...* July 25, 2010 Myriam Bergantin * This may be goodbye I read all your messages and I'm trying to figure out exactly what I owe you. See here's the thing when you pulled the money from the rent I had paid you, I asked how much and you said around 1200 total. I made 2 deposits of 500 and gave you the money for Josh's stuff which was 280 and I gave you an extra 120 for you to take the kids around. I ended up giving you 1400 to replace the 1200 that had been spent. The money that had been taken was to pay bills and get some stuff we needed. That's fine but since I replaced it that means I paid for all of it. Then in May you said I owed you for May's rent well how is that since I replaced more than what was taken out. I still gave you the extra money in May for rent I didn't actually owe. I ended up up staying up there with you for 7 1/2 months in which I paid you 7 1/2 months in rent. I also paid my part of the bills for May. I also paid for Josh's stuff again, for what? so he would have it for a month and get out and be a jerk? I have letters saying he would pay me back. Yea ok. So let me get this straight then, you say I owe you for June which I don't. Yes I said I would help pay the extra on the water bill and I will, when I get my check. How did we get to this point? Technically I paid for the rack because it was paid for with the money I had to replace. But I'm not going to do what you're doing. You said you would deduct the freezer from what I owed but......

Paid Website Usability Testers

...Paid Website Usability Testers Kazi Ziaul Islam Strayer University Human Computer Interaction CIS375 Prof. Kourosh Samia December 8, 2014 Paid Website Usability Testers Two attributes determine if a website is useful and they are usability and utility. Utility is whether or not the website provides the required information or features. Whereas, “usability is a quality attribute that assesses how easy user interfaces are to use.” (Nielsen, 2012, para. 1) You cannot have one without the other. Suppose your site is brimming to the top with lots of information and has all the bells and whistles, but if the Interface design (ID) is poor and as a result the User Experience (UX) suffers then no one is ever going to spend the time and effort to discover those great features. This is the main reason why companies must perform usability evaluation. Although the heuristic evaluation method may take less time and is usually less expensive, the “heuristic evaluators could not play the role of real users and could not predict actual problems users might face while interacting with the sites” (Hasan, Morris, & Proberts, 2012, p. 726) User Testing is essential prior to going live in a production environment and can done on a budget. Katie Sherwin of the Nielsen Norman Group reiterates that “testing doesn’t have to be expensive and by testing with just 5 users, you can uncover 85% of the issues.” (Sherwin, 2014, para. 8) After all it is an iterative process and the law...

Cable Testers

...Unit 6 Assignment 1 Cable Testers Today we will be discussing different types of cable testers. There are many different types of cable testers. Some would include: wire-map testers, continuity testers, tone generators, time-domain reflectometers, fiber-optic power meters, fiber-optic test sources, optical loss test set, optical time-domain reflectometers, fiber-optic inspection microscopes, visual fault locators, and multifunction cable scanners. We will only be talking about three of these testers. Those three are wire-map testers, time domain-reflectometers, and optical loss test sets. Wire-map testers are testers that transmit signals through each wire in a copper twisted pair cable to determine if it is connected to the correct pin at each end. Wire-map testers detect misplaced wires, broken or unconnected wires, and shorts. The more expensive types of wire-map testers are capable of detecting all problems that can render a cable run inoperable. Though the best models of these can be costly, being able to determine the exact problem immediately is much better than having to keep guessing and checking. I believe that these should be with every technician who values there time in the field, and doesn’t want to spend hours defining a problem only to find more faults. Personally I think these testers should be in EVERY tool kit for wire techs. This could help save a significant amount of time determining the problem with cables. Time domain-reflectometers are the next......
