In high school, I had a problem with eating too much fast food. Also I was against anybody who was a vegetarian. I could not understand why anybody would just want to eat just green food. I always said no matter what I wouldn’t just eat greens over any other food. Around the end of 10th grade, my friend Jason didn’t like how much fast food I ate because he was a vegetarian. Since he was a vegetarian, I would always give him a hard time about it. I called him a punk because of the simple fact that he was vegetarian. So one day he got enough of it and made a bet with me. The bet was that I couldn’t go on a veggie diet for a whole week. Because I have so much pride, I accepted the bet. If I lost the bet, I had pay him 100 dollars and vice versa. So it was a lot on the line. I was telling myself that I wasn’t going to lose the bet for nothing. I couldn’t afford to lose the bet so it wasn’t an option. For a second, I started thinking like maybe that wasn’t the smartest bet to take but my pride wouldn’t let me turn down the bet. Initially, I didn’t think it would be easy but I thought I could just breeze right through it. I soon came to realize that wasn’t the case. The first day of the bet started off well. I started the day off with a salad before I went to school. By the time I got to school, I was hungry all over again. I thought the salad was going to keep me full until lunchtime. But I was terribly wrong. It felt like I had not ate at all. I knew after that point that this was going to be a long week. All throughout the school day everybody seemed to either have snacks or fast food. It started to eat me alive knowing that I could not get any. Before the school day was over, I decided to leave. I couldn’t take it any more. So I went home and ate 4 bowls of salad hoping that would fill me up. But once again I was wrong. I slowly started realizing being a…...

7 Tips for a Flat Stomach

...your healthy diet and lure you into making bad diet decisions. Food manufacturers are experts at deceiving you into thinking their products are healthy and diet-friendly when in fact it’s just the opposite. Here are some helpful suggestions for shopping in a supermarket:  Stick to your shopping list.  Shop the perimeter of the store, where fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish are usually located. Avoid the center aisles where processed foods are shelved.  Avoid any food with five or more ingredients or ingredients you can't pronounce.  Don’t buy foods with cartoons on the label for your children. If you don't want your kids eating junk foods, don't keep it in your house.  If a food advertises itself as lite or lyte, you can bet it’s not light.  Don't shop when you're hungry. Hunger leads to filling your cart with junk food.  In the produce section, choose as many colors are possible. The colors of fruits and vegetables indicate different vitamins, mineral and other nutrients.  When buying breads, grains or pasta, choose those foods made from whole grains with the lowest carbohydrate content and the highest fiber content.  When choosing meat, fish and poultry, choose grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and fresh local fish whenever possible. Starbucks Coffee Hom

...5% coffee making equipment and accessory. It is currently looking at additional opportunities in distribution channels for Starbucks products, whether in food service, grocery, licensed stores or business alliances. Marketing Aspect 1. A Place For Everyone Many would agree that Starbucks serves up a high-quality brew that helps them power through the day. But coffee is far from being the only menu option. Stores today carry a small selection of food items and plenty of coffee-free beverages, making them more friendly to children and snack-seekers. Customers also have the option to overindulge (a trenta macchiato with a donut on the side) or under-indulge (a skinny latte with a veggie snack box). If you’re meeting up with someone whose food preferences are unknown, Starbucks is a pretty safe bet for any palate. 2. Ambiance At a price around $2.00 for a tall (small) cup of coffee, and upwards of $20.00 for the fanciest drink imaginable, you better believe that there’s more allure than just good coffee for the company to meet such widespread success at these not-so-competitive prices. In addition to its variety of non-coffee beverages and on-the-go eats, Starbucks’ ambiance is a draw. By now, most customers pretty much know what to expect when they enter through the heavy glass door, small green letters hanging overhead on the building exterior. A Starbucks interior in Los Angeles won’t look too different from one in Tokyo — a rich warm color scheme, alternative music,......

Ghosn Bets Big on Low-Cost Strategy

...Ghosn Bets Big on Low-Cost Strategy African Plant Underscores Race to Head Off Chinese, Indian Car Makers TANGIERS, Morocco -- The plan by French automotive group Renault SA and Japanese partner Nissan Motor Co. NSANY -0.75% to build a joint assembly plant in this North African port city highlights the accelerating race among global car makers to redefine the meaning of "low cost" for the auto industry, not just for emerging markets but for the developed world as well. With the sort of flourish that has become his trademark, Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn flew to Tangiers Saturday, where, in a carpeted tent overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, he signed the draft agreement with Morocco Prime Minister Driss Jetto for the future Tangiers plant. If Renault-Nissan and the Moroccan government can agree on certain key details, the two companies will invest as much as €1 billion ($1.36 billion) to erect one of the largest auto-production facilities on the African continent, designed to feed low-cost cars and trucks to showrooms in Europe, Asia and North America. The plant's initial capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year will increase gradually to 400,000 a year, including variants of Renault's low-cost Logan car line and a new range of $10,000 trucks under development at Nissan, the companies said. The plant is slated to open during the second half of 2010. Mr. Ghosn said moving into the no-frills segment represents a tough challenge. He set a high standard......

Or were you drunk when you watched it? [rhetorical question] Mack : Moe, pay me already. Why you making such a huge problem? It’s only $20. [rhetorical question] Moe : I don’t know about you, but $20 is a lot nowadays, especially how the economy’s going. [circumstantial ad hominem] Mack : Good god, man! [hyperbole] How much is too much for you? [line-drawing fallacy] Jest yesterday you were bragging how the boss gave you a bonus [inconsistency ad hominem]. Moe : I never said such thing! Mack : Yes, you did. Moe : What proof do you have? [misplacing burden of proof] Mack : My memory is like the memory of an elephant. [hyperbole] Moe : Then why couldn’t you remember your wife’s birthday? Mack : That was one time! [question begging] Moe : Yeah well, if I pay you back, Jack would come to me and ask for his money and then Joe will come asking for his money and then that kid I borrowed that quarter from will track me down and ask for his quarter back.......

: in the Interests of Workplace Diversity, What Could Bet He Potential Advantages and Disadvantages of Employers Hiring Older Workers and Workers from Ethnic Minority Groups?

...Nowadays there are a lot of regulations that prohibit discrimination on grounds of age and ethnic group that potential worker can come from. The priority of social policy in European Union and developer and developing countries is fighting with discrimination of different social groups. Integrated strategy is helping to fight down discrimination of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, believes, disability, age and sexual orientation. Most of employers say that the most important thing are qualifications, and only them should matter when it comes to hiring, but still they are more willing to employ young person than experienced fifty years old worker. The same case is when it comes to choosing between people of the same nationality as country the company is operating in, and ethnic minority. Employing the older workers have advantages as disadvantages, but it is the same case with hiring young person just after graduation. For example among older employees there are much less accidents in work, since they are more experienced, have wider knowledge and simply know how things works. The older- the wiser, as the old saying says, that is why when there is older person in the team, there are less conflicts, and even when they will appear, using the experience, those workers can simply help with coping with them. It is also important that older workers have steady family life, they do not have small kids anymore, so they can focus on their career. They do not have to take free...

Is Argentina a Good Bet for Hsbc

...The History of eBay eBay was founded in Pierre Omidyar's San Jose living room back in September 1995. It was from the start meant to be a marketplace for the sale of goods and services for individuals. In 1998, Pierre and his cofounder Jeff Skoll brought in Meg Whitman to sustain the success. Meg had studied at the Harvard Business School and had learned the importance of branding at companies such as Hasbro. Meg culled her senior staff from companies such as Pepsico and Disney, created an experienced management team with an average of 20 years of business experience and built a strong vision for the company -- that eBay is a company that's in the business of connecting people, not selling them things. They quickly shed the image of only auctioning collectibles and moved into an array of upscale markets where the average sale price (ASP) is higher. ASP is a key metric in determining eBay's transaction fees, so increasing the ASP became an important item. By forging partnerships with namebrands such as GM, Disney and Sun, eBay has managed to do exactly that. Sun has sold  $10 million worth of equipment and it now lists between 20 and 150 items per day. The Business Model eBay has built an online person-to-person trading community on the Internet, using the World Wide Web. Buyers and sellers are brought together in a manner where sellers are permitted to list items for sale, buyers to bid on items of interest and all eBay users to browse through listed items in a fully...

Quitting Job to Bet

...Together, they spend every single day watching football, placing bets while making thousands and thousands of pounds from betting. In the past 18 months, Gavin and Alex Walker have made nearly £400k in the space of a year. In fact, they once made £17k (one years salary) in a week. So why work? The brothers live in a huge penthouse in London, with huge 50inch plasma's, enormous double beds and an incredible view of the city. It really is the good life. They spend all of there time betting on football and that's how they earn the big dollar. When asked about their lifestyle to thetab.com, they both open up about their lavish lifestyle and betting habits. What do you bet on? Is there a specific system you have? We only bet on football. The main thing we do is single bets – no accumulators or doubles or anything like that, every bet we do is in play. It’s much easier to judge the outcome of the game that way. We literally bet on anything, anything you could imagine – this morning we woke up at 7am to bet on Uzbekistan girls U16s against Japan. We found a stream from China, lay in bed and put our money on. How many games do you watch a day? About four or five a day, every day. I liked watching football before we started and I guess I still like it now, maybe a little less than before. It never gets boring because the stakes get higher and higher, the feeling is still electric. How did you explain you were going full time to your......

...Previous Page Table of Contents Next Page 2.3. Conducting a feasibility study 2.3.1. Introduction 2.3.2. Market analysis 2.3.3. Technical feasibility 2.3.4. Financial feasibility 2.3.1. Introduction Aspiring entrepreneurs may have an idea about the type of fruit or vegetable product that they would like to make. This can come from seeing others successfully producing a food and wanting to copy them or from talking to friends and family members about products that they think they could make. However, an idea for a business is not a sufficient reason to begin production straight away, without having thought clearly about the different aspects involved in actually running the business. Too often, people invest money in a business only to find out later that there is insufficient demand for the product or that it is not the type that customers want to buy. To reduce this risk of failure and losing money, potential producers should go through the different aspects of running their business in discussions with friends and advisers before they commit funds or try to obtain a loan. This process is known as doing a feasibility study and when the results are written down, the document is known as a business plan. Conducting a feasibility study need not be difficult or expensive, but the most important aspects should all be taken into account to ensure that potential problems are addressed. These are summarised in the Feasibility Study Checklist in Appendix III and are...
