Week 2 Memo

...Option 2: Memo Evaluation By Lynda Jenkins ENG221 Option 2: Memo Evaluation The memo I will be evaluating is one from my place of work. The company is called Gamwell Technologies Inc. It was in regards to a program call Auto task that we were going to start using online and our boss just explains how to use it and our logins. The tone of this memo is very direct and straight forward. He always gets straight to the point in any subject, because if he doesn’t the guys will be asking a lot of questions. I think the writing style would be technical because he is explaining how to get to the site, what we use to log in and if a link on how to use the site. We cannot do anything else besides what is written or we would not be in the right site. So I think it is technical writing because in the memo he includes the user guide and the process on how to get to and onto the site. And of course at the end lets us know there is going to be a company meeting on this and wants us to write down any questions we might have after going onto the site. I thought it was straight forward and to the point I would not change anything about this memo. Even though I know that maybe he could have gone into more detail with the site and explained what its purpose was for the company instead of us logging on and finding out ourselves. Basically we were going to switch our ticketing system to this site, but we never did in the end. We all had the meeting and it was going...

...Memo To: Manager CC: Manager From: Jack Steward Date: [ 2/25/2013 ] Re: Web Conferencing Programs I have been researching the web conferencing programs and come up with Infinite Conferencing. The services will cost $35.00 per month. This program is easy to use but the only problem that this site is that it has no tutorial. The video of this program gives you many settings that you are able to adjust it to what suits everyone needs. The audio for this program is set up where both or all sides are able to talk at the same time without taking turns. The security for this program is top rated because it will give you an unique URL for each of the online meetings. It also is encrypted using 128-bit AES encryption. I have also researched the web conferencing programs: ClickMeeting and InterCall. These other two web conferencing programs either lack in the audio, video, or the security is the reason I didn’t choose these other two. ClickMeeting I see will have audio and security issues while in the middle or beginning of the conference. InterCall I see will be lacking in the audio during the web broadcasting in the conferencing. Web Conferencing Programs Comparisions | | Infinite | InterCall | ClickMeeting | Video and Interactivity | 10/10 | 9.4/10 | 9.3/10 | Audio and Teleconference | 10/10 | 8.8/10 | 8.3/10 | Security | 10/10 | 10/10 | 7.5/10 | Help and Support | 8.3/10 | 9.4/10 | 10/10 |...

Eng 221 Week 2 Individual Assignement Option 2

...This is the main piece of information being communicated in the memo that was sent from Yvonne Reynolds to Brenda Wagner. Based on the criteria of organization, clarity, tone, and style this memo is not a very good example of what a memo should be. The organization of this memo is done in a way that you can understand that they are going to be getting new registers. However, the clarity of the memo makes it difficult to understand. Yvonne informs Brenda that the vendor of the new registers will give some training materials and train the company’s trainer. She then states, “We need to determine the best way to train the cashiers in the three stores, the management team in each store and the computer support specialists.” This makes is confusing to understand who is suppose to be doing the training in the store. It leaves questions as to why the vendor id training someone if it is then up to the stores to find a way to train the employees. The clarity also comes into question when Yvonne says to, “have someone evaluate the various means we could use to deliver the training and make a recommendation of how we should proceed.” This leaves Brenda to try to figure out where to look for someone and to figure out when exactly the training is suppose to happen. The tone and style are on the casual style for a business memo. The whole thing is typed in one paragraph that is not as informative as it should be. The whole memo seems to be very casual and almost rushed. Yvonne should......

Corporate Memo Student ENG/221 February 30, 2014 Instructor Corporate Memo Memorandum To: CIO Jeff Bridges CC: CIO Support Team From: Student Date: 6/30/2014 ------------------------------------------------- Re: Choices for Web Conferencing Software Choosing the Best Available Software There are many web conference choices available for almost any purpose. Our team would benefit greatly from most of them, but their value varies greatly by cost, usability, and resource usage. I have selected three different programs for your review. Software Selection Firstly, all of our onsite users are currently using the Microsoft Windows operating system. Some users located offsite use Macintosh OS X. This would have presented a problem in the past, but luckily almost every choice today allows for use in both cases. Software Number 1: Cisco WebEx This software is excellent. It allows for almost any application that could be desired in a business setting. The price is $19.99 a month for the annual plan, it allows for HD video conferencing, desktop sharing, mobile phone access, remote control, VOIP, and can be initiated by a single host computer. Software Number 2: Adobe Connect This software also allows for basically anything we could expand to use. It’s price is $45.00 a month per host. The service offers HD and SD video conferencing, desktop sharing, mobile phone access, remote control, VOIP, great document sharing support, and like all others listed here, a virtual shareable......

...Final Analysis Brandon E. Knight Bis/221 01/26/2015 Robert Chubbuck Final Analysis Utilization of Social Media to Positively Impact The Collegiate Experience The use of social media in the realm of academia has becoming less of an option and more of a requirement in today's technological age. The current student population on today's college and university campuses is such that they (students) come to campus already well versed and deeply ensconced in social media. They utilize it as a matter of habit as a means of communicating with each other, their family and friends back home as well as many other platforms. I am making this presentation to President Harrelson in hopes of improving the use of social media to enhance the student monitor current issues and trends, as well as impact retention. The monetary outlay and impact on the fiscal resources of the university will be small. An upgrade of the storgage capacity for Facebook and Twitter accounts my be necessary. Revision and upgrading of the campus WiFi has already been completed as a part of the Academic program enhancement project completed at the end of the previous semester. Consultation with the university IT staff is currently underway. The review of the technology needs will be prepared and ready for review in thirty days. The university already has a Facebook page (account). This proposal includes a revision and enhancement of the current Facebook page (account) as well as the addition of......
