Going GrEEN IN THE WORKPLACE

Fndations of Professional Communication {ENGL510}

Global warming has been affected the climate in a huge since the last century. In order to slow down the raised temperature, many climate associations strive to devote their work to balance the environment cycle. The priority task is implementing the green movement into our daily life. Today I would like to introduce one of the essential environmentally friendly—going green in our workplace. The basic concepts for performing the movements of environmentally friendly in workplace are reuse, reduce, and recycle. The biggest waste in office is the paper waste. There is a statistic showed, 71.6 million tons of paper which up to 40% of total waste produced in the U.S having been wasted each year (statspotting.com, 2012). If we can flip the paper for reusing the blank parts to write or to be printed, it will reduce more than 20 million tons of paper waste. Finally, collect those papers could save more than 15% trees been cut. Next part for green in the workplace is controlling the electricity. Inside the office, we can change light switch into sensor switch. This kind of sensor will automatically turn off the light when there is no employee inside.
There is another thing inside the office we have to pay much attention as well—the temperature adjustment. The most comfortable temperature is five more or less degrees of outside temperature. Controlling the temperature not only can save the electricity payment but also increase the life of air condition and heater.

...Week 3 Assignment 1.1 Karen Gassler Professor Evans ENG115 April 26, 2013 In the story, “On Becoming a Writer” by Russell Baker, he shows a great example of chasing after a dream. At such a young age in his life when people claim you have no clue where or what you want to do with your life, he was able to figure it all out. Mr. Baker was able to show that anything in life is possible as long as you stick to it and give it your all. Russell was not someone who enjoyed English. In fact, he hated and dreaded taking English in his high school years; he recalls it as “dull and baffling.” (p 66). When he entered his third year in high school, he would have never guessed that at some point in that year, he would finally realize what he wanted to do with his life. Not only did he figure out what he wanted to do with his life, but he also found out it would be in something that he once in his life hated! “He constantly sprinkled his sentences with “don’t you see.” It wasn’t a question but an exclamation of mild surprise at our ignorance.” (p 67). Russell Baker can recall how everyone would simply made fun of Mr. Fleagle for making such a misunderstood statement. I found this to be one of the most important parts of his story. He makes it clear that even the tiniest statements that someone makes to you can mean so much more when you really understand it. No one ever understood what Mr. Fleagle was trying to make by saying this statement all the time until Russell was graded......

...Week 3 Assignment John Smith INF 336 Professor Smith July 14, 2014 Week 3 Assignment The differences between needs identification and defining commercial equivalents are that needs identification is initial phase of a program/project when the customer comes to an organization with a need and the types of needs are identified for the project and analyzed. Once the needs are identified, these needs are then converted into commercial equivalents. That helps the potential suppliers know why it is needed and what is needed. It is preferable to separate into two stages because every organization really needs to identify why and what is needed. Nothing can be failed to spot during any of these actions. When an early supplier involvement (ESI) is implemented effectively, the value to the organization is improved tremendously. As stated in the textbook, “Early supply involvement and early supplier involvement (ESI) help assure that what is specified is also procurable and represents good value. Various organizational approaches, such as staffing the supply area with engineers, co-locating supply people in the engineering or design areas, and using cross-functional teams on new product development or product or service reviews, have been used to address effective early supply involvement.” (Johnson, Leenders, & Flynn, 2010) One of the advantages of specifying by performance is that it has the supplier with the decision making on how to “provide the most suitable......

Week 3 Team a Assignment

...Week 3 Team A assignment How are the hospital’s revenues and expenses grouped for planning and control? The way of which a hospital’s revenues and expenses are grouped varies from hospital to hospital. The revenues and expenses are grouped will also vary depending upon the type of hospital, may it be for-profit or non-profit hospital. How the patient care is delivered in the hospital affects the flow of revenues and expenses. The different services offered to the patients, the number of patients and their insurance services, the types of services a hospital offers, and the frequency of use of different services are just a few factors that affect the hospital revenues and expenses. Most hospital revenue comes from billing for patient care services. In most cases, this means billing to private insurance companies as well as federal Medicare and state Medical programs. Hospitals maintain contracts with a broad selection of private health plans, with agreed schedules of reimbursement for basically every type of medical services. Also, supplies make up about 15 percent of the average community hospital's expenses. Of course, these costs are offset through billing to patients for supplies used in the course of their treatment. Capital expenditures can be a huge part of a hospital's expenses. However, the amount and percentage of the budget can vary dramatically by hospital. For example, when a hospital undergoing a major expansion or construction......

...Week 3 Tiika Massenburg BUS 508 Dr. Alan R. Tillquist January 22, 2013 Sam Goldman and Ned Tozun are entrepreneurs who are started a socially responsible company. Their main goal is to bring light to the more than 1.5 billion people that are without light In 2006, Sam, now the CEO, and Ned, the President, classmates at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business founded D.light Design . Sam was in the Peace Corps in Benin and saw many children injured and burned by kerosene lamp accidents. He wants to eliminate the need for kerosene lamps for the safety of the children.. The team views kerosene as a dirty, dangerous, unreliable and expensive form of lighting that current technology should be working to replace and eliminate. D.light’s mission statement reads, “We will replace every kerosene lantern in the world with high quality and affordable light and power solutions, thereby providing everyone access to a basic human need: safe and bright light (Toder, 2009).” The owners by virtue of trying to supply light to places where kerosene lighting is the leading source of light are more focused on social responsibly than profit. Many of the intended customers will barely be able to afford the product. That customer base alone demonstrates that profit is not the main focus of the company. Since social responsibility is more important than profits the company management style is different than a profit based corporation. The company values customers. ......

Assignment 3 Week 6

...Week 6 Assignment 3 Research Plan HSA505 Health Services Planning and Management Dr. Point-Johnson, Instructor Strayer University Berlin Boxley May 13, 2012 Alternative health care is a growing industry in medicine. Canada has one of the highest rate of their population seeking alternative medicine in the U. S. According to the National Population Health Survey by Statistics Canada (1998-99) found that 3.8 million Canadians aged 18 and over had consulted an alternative health care provider at least once during the previous 12 months. This is just one state out of 50 for the U.S. Imagine the popularity of this type of treatment being sought as medical attention for sicknesses. A definition frequently referenced in research comes from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in the United States. They define alternative medicine as a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine (medicine as practiced by medical doctor or doctors of osteopathy and their allied health professionals, such as physical therapists, psychologists, and registered nurses). Alternative health care is sometimes referred to as complementary and alternative health care. The terms “alternative” and ‘complementary” refer to using the same therapy in many different ways. That is, alternative refers to using a particular type of therapy instead of conventional treatment. Also......

...Dana Smith HS310-01 Unit 3 Assignment Kaplan University A randomized controlled study is one in which there are two groups, one treatment group and one control group. The treatment group receives the treatment under investigation, and the control group receives either no treatment or some standard default treatment. Patients are randomly assigned to all groups. Assigning patients at random reduces the risk of bias and increases the probability that differences between the groups can be attributed to the treatment, ("Randomized controlled studies," 2004). Like anything in life a randomized control studies has its Advantages and Disadvantages. Some advantages include good randomization, this will “wash out” any population bias, it is easier to blind/mask than observational studies, results can be analyzed with well-known statistical tools and populations of participating individuals are clearly identified. Some disadvantages are that it can be expensive in terms of time and money, the population that participates may not be representative of the whole, and the study may not reveal causation, ("Randomized control trial," 2011). I am going to demonstrate how the study works by performing a RCFT, randomized controlled field test. A randomized controlled field trial is used to test preventive interventions in well persons in the community, (Jekel, 2007). My study will focus on a community based substance abuse prevention program for teens. The goal is to see if the......
