What makes Zero1 unique is it uses only the wireless data links to handsets, rather than cellular voice links. It relies on others GSM network for service. However uses its own network except for last mile. When comparing the PSTN and the Voip network use a different set of protocols. For example, Voip uses TCP-IP, and the Session Initiation Protocol. The PSTN uses TDM frames in multiplexing, in addition to signaling protocols. Which is why, Voip requires an interface to sit at the border of both systems. Also on the PSTN voice is analog with the exception of when it goes thru the switch it becomes digital thru TDM. Most VOIP must interface to the internet for service i.e Zer01, others like ATT Uverse or Verizon FIOS are integrated into the PSTN of their telephone network. There is a case where the call originates and terminates on devices connected to the PSTN but the call’s routing is done over the Internet. This can be done as communication over the Internet is cheaper and typically used for international calls. There can be a case where the call originates and terminates on devices connected to the Internet but a part of the call’s route is over the PSTN. This can be the case when the circuit-switched link through the PSTN reduces the communication delay whereas the end-to-end Internet path may have a higher expected delay. Calls can be routed over the data network internally or over the internet externally, mobile telephony costs can be decreased significantly. There are several ways a VoIP can be attacked, the most common is the DoS attack, VoIP provide good cover for a DoS attack because all a hacker has to do is keep multiple packet streams running. There is Toll Fraud, this is when someone gains unauthorized access to a VoIP network and makes repeated long distance calls. Phishing through email is trying…...

The reason for lower churn rate for Varizon was providing superior quality and customized products. * Low churn rate has enabled the company to grow its subscriber base faster than rivals, which allows the company to better achieve economies of scale by spreading the foxed cost of building a wireless network over a larger customer base. * To reduce customer churn rate and achieve competitive advantage Varizon take several actions. These are - 1. Firstly , the company invested heavily in building high quality nationwide wireless network. That helped it to position itself on differentiation base to its customer. 2. Secondly, it installed CDMA technology instead of traditional GSM, which gave differential advantages over GSM to provide better service and lowering...

Intel’s mindset is toward better customer relations and away from perspective of being the only real competition in the marketplace. 2. Technological Concerned with chip making for PCs but then went beyond it into the production of information and communication appliances as well as providing services related to the Internet. Barrett created a new wireless unit that combined new acquisitions such as DSP Communications Inc. ( a chipset supplier for digital communications) with Intel’s memory operations. 3. Economic Affected by Septemeber 11, 2001 and needed to withdraw investments in new markets (production of network servers and routers and e-commerce service for small businesses) due to direct result of the downturn in economic condition. Intel’s shares also suffered. At $26, were down to 60 pecent compared to their highest over the previous years and get worse after the downturn and fell further to $20 by October. 4. At&T Wireless Case

...AT&T Wireless Case – ACCT 503 1. [10 points] Describe the cost behavior in the wireless industry. What are the implications of this cost behavior for cost-volume-profit (CVP) relationships? Cost behavior is how a company’s costs change given a change in that company’s activities. Variable costs are costs that change proportionately with the changes in a company’s activities. In contrast, the costs that do not change with a change in a company’s activities are known as fixed costs. In the case of AT&T, costs are focused primarily into the fixed category. This means that as the company’s activities shift, its costs remain relatively unchanged. This combination of high fixed costs and low cost variable costs gives AT&T and the rest of the industry a large amount of operating leverage. The high operating leverage of AT&T means that the company utilizes a higher risk strategy which leads to higher profits as volumes increase. Essentially, as long as AT&T maintains a volume that covers at least its fixed costs, any additional volume translates into profit. This works both ways however, if volume decreases below the threshold for covering fixed costs then every decrease in volume yields proportionately equal losses. According to the case, there is little cost associated with text messaging. The case states that text messaging has an incredibly low variable cost, estimated at only a few cents per text. So basically, once AT&T has covered the cost of......

...Graded Unit 1 – Case Study The following answers are related to an "issue" from a practice case study. The issue was based on the following extract from case study: "At least two members of staff spend more than 70% of their time out of the office visiting clients ……………… There is some tension between these two employees and members of the administrative staff, with each blaming the other for not passing on messages or acting upon them." Both answers are regarding the same issue extracted from case study, however the first one is a very good answer (gaining 6 out of 7) and the second answer is poorer (gaining just 2 out of 7). Read through both of them to gain an understanding of what is required, in general, regarding the structure/content/knowledge a student must show to do well. Answer 1 Using ICT to communicate with the staff members that are out of the office (issue clearly identified – 1 mark) The relationship between the staff who spend most of their time on the road and the staff in the office is poor. The tension between the staff has been deteriorating over time and instead of seeking ways of trying to solve the communication issues, both sides are spending a lot of time blaming the other. (issue developed - 1 mark) (One mark is awarded for clear identification of the issue, another mark is awarded for development of the issue.) a. Unfortunately, the customers are suffering because of this arguing, if we do not resolve this, then...

Cis500 Case Study 2- Wireless and Mobile Technologies

...Case Study 2: Wireless and Mobile Technologies Paula Tucker Dr. Howell CIS500 August 22, 2015 1. Define wireless technologies and mobile technologies. Next, determine at least three (3) ways which companies or organizations utilize such technologies to improve business efficiency. “Wireless is a term used to describe telecommunications in which electromagnetic waves (rather than some form of wire) carry the signal over part or all of the communication path” (www. searchmobilecomputing.techtarget.com). Wireless technology has dramatically changed over the last several years, with increasing capabilities and innovations. Some common examples of modern wireless technologies include smartphones, GPS, cordless phones, baby monitors, two-way radios, remote garage openers, cordless computers and equipment, tablets, laptops, notebooks, and satellite television. Mobile technologies or Mobile IT (mobile information technology) “is the ability an information technology (IT) department has to deliver IT services to employees working on mobile devices” (www. searchmobilecomputing.techtarget.com). Many of the above mentioned wireless devices are also mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, and GPS navigation devices. More and more mobile computing with the use of tablets is becoming increasing popular. According to Turban (2015), “wireless technology makes mobile computing and commerce a source of vast opportunities for businesses” (195). Companies and organizations......
