wow 1. Define consumer behavior. Consumer behavior – activities people undertake when obtaining, consuming, and disposing of products and services. 2. Why is consumption a key to understanding why consumers buy products Consuming means how, where, when, and under what circumstances consumers use products. For example, issues relating to consumption might include decisions about whether consumers use products at home or at the office. Researchers have focused on consumption analysis, which refers why and how people use products in addition to why and how they buy. Consumption analysis is a broader conceptual framework than buyer behavior because it includes issues that arise after the purchase process occurs – issues that often affect how people buy and the satisfaction they receive from their purchases. 3. What types of questions are answered by studying consumer behavior? 1. Why did you choose the school at which you are now studying? 2. Why did you buy your clothes from Abercrombie and Fitch, Old Navy, Benetton or any thousands of other retail stores? 3. How do you allocate the twenty-four hours of each day between studying, working, watching television, sleeping, working out in a gym, and watching or participating in a sport? 4. Do you usually cook your food from scratch, microwave it, or buy it already cooked in a restaurant to eat there or take home? Why do you eat certain types or brands of food most often? 5. If you had the choice of attending sports event, visiting a museum, attending a concert, or spending the evening with internet chats and games on our computer, which would you choose? 6. When you graduate and buy a car, do you plan on buying it new or used? Which model or make will you most likely use? Will you lease it or buy it? 7.…...

Formal, or maybe even stodgy? Way beyond my budget constraints? Three words that the company hopes come to mind are “exemplary customer service. Ritz Carlton is committed to treating its guests as royalty, it has one of the most distinctive corporate culture in the lodging industry, and employees are referred to as “our ladies and gentlemen.” Its motto is printed on a card that employees carry with them: “We are Ladies and Gentlemen Serving Ladies and Gentlemen.” And these ladies and gentlemen of Ritz have been trained in very precise standards and specifications for treating customers. These standards were established more than a century ago by founders Caesar Ritz and August Escoffier. Ritz employees are continually schooled in company lore and company values. Every day at 15-minute “lineup” sessions at each hotel property, managers reinforce company values and review service techniques. And these values are the basis for all employee training and rewards. Wow Stock Analysis

...Weekly STOCK & FOREX Report Week 1 Stock - Woolworths Limited Forex - GBP/USD Woolworths Monthly Analysis Since 2000, WOW has entered the stage of performance release, therefore, the share price has been steadily rising. Even in the context of the global financial crisis in 2008, it only had a 30% retracement, forming a shape of triangle consolidation. In 2012, WOW’s stock price broke through the pressure line, achieving a new highest record. Therefore, it is arguable to say that during the recovery process of global economy with undercurrents investing environment, medical, consumer and other fields are is undoubtedly the preferred and sound-based choices for investors. Weekly Analysis Since October 2011 since the formation of the slope of the trend line continues to be valid till today. The current share price is at a historic highest position (horizontal line), the upper edge of the triangle above has strong resistance, while the bottom has been supported. Therefore, long-term investors may withhold the sidelines, waiting for clearer indicators. Daily Analysis If the stock price can break through the record high ($34.9), it is estimated that it will be likely to achieve $ 36. Otherwise it will decrease to around $ 32.65 down to the bottom, seeking for support. if the price continues to fluctuate, it is recommended that investors hold on. Wow Addiction

...The Way of WoW One of my sad addictions is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (mmorpg) named World of Warcraft (WoW). It has amassed over 12 million subscribers. It has addicted many people, killed a few, and yet married others. But how does one actually start playing this “crack cocaine” of the gaming world. I’ll take you thru the basic ins and outs of starting your addiction in this essay. Yes, this essay is the gateway drug to WoW, and I’ll be your dealer. First you’ll need the actual hardware and software. I won’t go too much into detail here. You’ll need a very comfortable mouse as you will be clicking and moving that little piece of pointer magic until your fingers lose all sense of feeling and they fall off. Then you’ll need to make sure your computer and video cards can handle this beasty! You can easily find the system requirements on the WoW website ( www.worldofwarcraft.com). The next portion is the actual software. There is currently the main game and two expansions, The Burning Crusade and The Lich King, with a much anticipated third installment called Cataclysm which is due out on December 7th of this year. Install all that as well as a few gigs of patches and you are ready to start your “noob” status. Noobs is a terminology used by many gamers to signify new players, or players who don’t know how to play well. The last part of setting yourself up for the technical part of the addiction is to set up a monthly subscription with the software......

Zappos - Developing a Supply Chain to Deliver Wow

...Case Zappos Developing a Supply Chain to Deliver WOW! Core Competencies Zappos is a prime example of a company’s end products (the goods sold) not corresponding to their core product (the delivery service). While in theory being a retailer, Zappos sees itself as a service provider. Their core competencies lie in their customer service system (i.e. free calls), their straightforward and useful web interface, their excellent supply chain structure and the extensive return policy. In the following I would like to further explain two of them. Customer Service Zappos prioritises customer service in their business model. A lot of effort is put into finding, hiring and training the right people for their free call centres. These employees then help create an emotional impact with their customers. In order to be able to cultivate the reputation of the brand Zappos they are equipped with a great amount of freedom and a wide array of measures to help their costumers resolve problems. The revolutionary aspect of Zappos call centre? Efficiency does not matter. The focus lies on creating an extraordinary, memorable experience by engaging with people. This powerful marketing tool drives sales and makes customers return. Warehouse System When Zappos started acquiring inventory and managing their own warehouse they were faced with additional costs and challenges. They overcame these by introducing an unconventional warehouse system. A robotic system with movable shelves was put into......

Ritz Carlton Match Up to Competition and Wow Stories

...The importance of “wow stories” in customer service for a luxury hotel such as the Ritz-Carlton is what distinguishes itself from its competitors. The Ritz-Carlton for years has been practicing anticipating the customer’s needs and making them a reality. This solely puts them in a class all on their own. All of this simply put is how they create an extra ordinary stay for their guests. This demonstration helps show people that the company is willing to go above and beyond to make a person’s stay the best one that they have ever had. These memories that are created are passed around in stories to others and have that awe effect to inspire, motivate, and reinforce a company's vision statement and values. Each day during the lineups which are daily fifteen minute staff meetings at the Ritz, someone reads what is known as the "wow story" of the day, (Gallo, 2011). The same story is shared across hotels in 21 countries, so a waiter in Boston will hear the same story as a concierge in Bali; a housekeeper in Shanghai will hear the same story as a doorman in Hong Kong. The stories that are read single out an individual employee who goes above and beyond who offers exemplary service to help create the mystique that turns extravagant travelers into repeat guests. An example of one of the “wow stories” is that a family staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Bali, son suffered from food allergies. The Wow Project (Pm)

...The Wow Project In the new economy, all work is project work. And you are your projects! Here’s how to make them all go Wow! First appeared: FC24, p.116 BY TOM PETERS I learned about the future of work by living in the projects — the kind of projects you routinely do at a professional-services firm. More years ago than I care to remember, I reported to the offices of McKinsey & Co. in San Francisco for my first day as a professional management consultant. At 9 a.m., I started to work. At 3 p.m. that afternoon, I was on an airplane to Clinton, Iowa to work on a project that involved an investment in a $150 million petrochemical plant, and even if you’d spotted me four letters, I couldn’t have spelled “petrochemical.” But that was life — in the projects. Fast-forward 25 years. All white-collar work is project work. The single salient fact that touches all of our lives is that work is being reinvented. The workplace revolution that transformed the lives of blue-collar workers in the 1970s and 1980s is finally reaching the offices and cubicles of the white-collar workers. For the blue-collar worker, the driving force behind change was factory automation using programmable machine tools. For the office worker, it’s office automation using computer technology: enterprise-resource-planning systems, groupware, intranets, extranets, expert systems, the Web, and e-commerce. After decades of wholesale neglect, companies are finally facing the fact of pathetic white-collar......

Bow-Wow Theory

...The origin of language in the human species has been the topic of scholarly discussions for several centuries. One linguistic theory concerning the origin of language is the "Natural-sound source theory", that hypothesizes that primitive language are imitations of the natural sounds which early human heard from around them. This is also called the "Bow-wow theory". Yet, some argue that the theory does not necessarily offers a scientific explanation of the origin of language, and it still remains controversial. The "Bow-wow theory" states that language began when our ancients imitated the animal sounds. For example, if an animal passed by a human and made a certain sound, the human would try to imitate the sound that which the animal did. In fact, all modern languages have some words which seems to echo naturally occurring sounds. In English for instance, there are onomatopoetic words like meow, hiss, buzz, roar and oink, which phonetically imitates the source of the sound that it describes. Nevertheless, it is somehow difficult to see how most of the soundless and abstract objects in the world could have been given names if language simply echoed natural sounds. The theory fail to explain the presence of abstract words, such as love, kindness, evil and etc., which leads the theory to contradict itself. Another counter argument against this theory is that relatively few words in any language are onomatopoeic, and they are not the same across all language. For example, a......

This Is Pow Wow

...This is Pow Wow He stood among the dancers in the grass arena, still and poised, ready to outperform his competition. Finally, the loudspeakers rang out with the beat of the drum, setting the dancers into motion for the last time that year. Slowly, they began to come alive quickening their pace as the singers cried out their song. His steps were perfect, each one placed with meaning, precisely timed with the beat. His feathers bobbed up and down, echoing his movements. Beads of sweat streamed down his painted face and caught at the end of his nose before being thrown onto the moccasin-beaten grass. His bells and headdress shook with each step, the red and yellow colors of his regalia blurring as he spun. His heart raced as the song reached its peak, his hands wet with nervous sweat. He timed his steps, concentrated on the beat, and took a deep breath, preparing for the move that would bring him victory: a complete and perfect handspring. As his feet came down over his body, thousands of Indians around the arena caught their breath. He pretended not to notice, continuing to pound his moccasins into the ground in rhythm with the drum. As the last beat rang, he froze his body in the stance of a warrior, posing as still as he had before the song began. His chest heaved and sweat poured down his broad, smiling face. I joined my family and the crowd in cheering for him, proud to be his niece. Dancers like him and moments like these are what keep our culture alive. This is why I......

Camp Bow Wow

...Camp Bow Wow Corporate Budgeting: Final Project My companies name is Camp Bow Wow, which is an overnight boarding facility for mainly dogs but other animals are welcome. The company was started in 2009 when the owner (Kasandra, myself) decided to become the owner of a dog named Buddy. All was well until Kasandra had a vacation planned and could not find any boarding facilities to meet the standards she was looking for. She had also recently inherited a large some of money in the amount of about 200,000 from the passing of her grandparents who also shared the love of animals with her. Kasandra used that money to find a place she could live and turn into a boarding facility and luckily she was able to find the perfect house with lots of land in the middle of town, so she got to work and the company shared its grand opening with the community in spring of 2011. The company has successfully been around for almost 3 years now offering products such as boarding, bathing, nail trims, and other products to ensure your animal is safe and happy. The location is right in the middle of the town of Appomattox so it’s perfect for people who are traveling in either direction and is known for their non-traditional animal boarding facilities, while targeting mainly dog breeds the facility is open to animals of several kinds. The reason we say its non-traditional is because the animals are not just kept in kennels all day and walked a few times unless requested by the owner, but......

How to Make Say Wow !!

...Making You Say Wow - Ritz-Carlton Question 2 The challenge the company faced in changing the culture was the feedbacks and feelings of the customers who used to have a type of contact with the employees. With changing the corporate culture, the Ritz-Carlton managers were not sure about if the customers would be satisfied or not. It was a risked challenge because of the type of customers the Ritz-Carlton hosts because they are very demanding and exacting. To maintain this new culture, the managers reinforce the knowledge of the employees about company values and service techniques. Employees constantly learn about the company values, during the 15-minute “lineup” sessions at each hotel property; this helps to maintain the company culture. Moreover, the new employees are selected according to their knowledge, their passion, their will to serve other people. The Ritz-Carlton only selects dedicated and motivated employees to represent the company cultures and values Question 3 A person with a friendly attitude and a positive outlook would be the happiest in the Ritz Carlton environment. Someone who is not afraid of change and is dedicated to making the customers happy. The new employees would best learn the culture of Ritz Carlton environment by going through the day-to-day rituals, interacting with other staff members and customers. I also happen to agree with the new Ritz Carlton approach, which is allowing their staff to communicate with customers in a more......

Going for Wow at Notthingham-Spirk

...provide each employee with an outlet to be creative and freethinking while at the same time systematically moving forward towards an actionable solution. The company seems to have mastered the ability for individuals to be free thinkers through their own independent thought process and expertise. This is augmented by the ability for the ideas generated by the individuals to be evaluated by the group in a way that is not critical in the traditional sense, but seems to be empowering in a way that supports the initial intentions of the idea generator and seeks to add value to ideas that the group deems need more improvement. This system of finding new ideas and then voting on where each one stands within the three choices of “so what, nice, and wow” is purely genius. Chapter 8 Question 1: The three main problems associated to teams are conflicts amongst members which lead to inefficiency, inability to focus, and lack of productivity. Conflict amongst members generates from a lack of respect regarding the ideas of all the members, where domineering personalities take actions which disregard the wishes and contributions of others, what this creates is situations where many members don’t get to contribute their greatest ideas and skills, which brings down their productivity and creates situations where those contributions are not a part of the final product, bringing down the overall quality of the project. The next problem is that of lack of focus. Most teams have problems within......

Wow Wednesday

...‘’WOW MOMENT’’! By Dii0909 What is a ‘’wow moment’’? Wow moment for each person is different and is depend from their dreams, feelings and expectations. For some ‘’wow moment’’ is child birth or good holidays, for others is one day in bed. We all are individual personalities and we all are so different, isn’t it? That is a reason why ‘’wow moment’’ for each person will be different. My ‘’wow moment’’ is my honey week in Egypt. Beautiful Egypt First of all, why Egypt is my wow moment it is because I never been in there before. Egypt is very beautiful country and same time very dangerous. I did spend my honey week with my husband in Hurghada, which is a beach resort town stretching some 40 km along Egypt’s Red Sea cost. It’s removed for scuba diving and has lots of diving shops. There are many different restaurants, night clubs and coffee shops. There are water is so blue like sky and sun is so big like beach ball. There are dolphins and very kind, smiling people who can speak around five different languages, including Russian, which is my language. There, every night, are fantastic shows for different taste and age. Real Egypt Secondly, Egypt is my wow moment because a contrast what you can see when you going somewhere out in town. There you can see other side of this country –rubbish on streets, poverty, soldiers and police around. Some houses look like a big scrap yards where everything placed somewhere around.
